It’s so wonderful (especially in these times where the future of the world is being threatened by psychopaths), to see men and animals doing honest work. Thank you Robert for this dose of sanity and reality!
Bless their hearts, these horses are so willing to please. They are beautiful and gentle souls. I hate that while the gentlemen working with them don't appear to be super harsh in working them, they do treat them like they are just a machine. The way the driver directs the black horse over the logs each time, you know that horse has bruised pasterns. They are living creatures. Treat them as such.
My grandpa did this in the 1940-50 in Hackney Ohio. Very cool to see. I always imagined huge logs.. and steep hills.. lol like stright up a holla . Thanks for posting
Klaus Karbaumer Cutting tails is forbidden in Belgium since 2001, but because horse growers massively got around that rule, the Constitutional Court reaffirmed the law in 2018. As a result horses with a so called "block" tail may not be inspected and cannot participate in competitions and exhibitions.
@@horatiohornblower868 Thank you for this information. I live in Missouri, USA, and unfortunately here in the States many draft horses are docked, too, albeit not quite so short. I have had horses for 57 seven years, in Germany and here, but never found it necessary to have them docked. But it is not easy to find drafts with long tails here.
Klaus Karbaumer Most Belgium draft horses live in the USA. In fact the breed would have long been extinct if it was not bred massively by American farmers.
No it’s getting rid of exotic tree species from a nature reserve. English is not the makers native language but if you feel you have to be a dick because he used the wrong word then so be it.
This really angers me , some geek cut the tail off the brown & white horse , now in the summer it has nothing to swat the flies with ! In fact all the horses have their tail hair cut clear off ! The hair of the tail should only be cut short enough to keep it out of the snow ! I know these things cause l logged with horses, in the 1950s in Canada summer & winter
@@donaldvanvliet9039then hook 2-3 logs then and stop walking around with a embarrassing load when you have a8-900 kg horse..I can pull that log myself…But what do I know I only have 16 draft pulling horses.
Yes, it is a Belgian horse. 30 years ago, yje black coat color was rare in the Belgian breed, but now it is common. Look at my horse Gloria on UA-cam. She is also black.
The collars are so different than the collars that are used in the US. When I'm looking at old pictures of working horses, I know immediately when I'm looking at horses from the UK. because of the collars. In Australia, a lot less leather is used in the harness. It woud be interesting for a Belgian horseman to discuss the attributes of the collars. Then, I guess it would be interesting for horsemen from all over the world to share their viewpoints on traditional harness.

Stunning collection of heavy built thick maned beauties.
and the horses are lovely, too........................ boom boom

Aren't thes horses fantastic? Who else but they who enjoy working and getting a project done well. So effective and reliable.
Beautiful clever gentle giants. Pleasure to watch man and horse working together. 💕💕💕
Absolutely beautiful animals
Such beautiful horses. Although I would not call this a difficult forest. In North america we call this a nicely manicured park.
Saved to favourites, beautiful horses. Good work
beautiful happy horses working with pepole in peace , what not to like !?
Big and beautiful horses 😯❤️
Nice video Pretty horses well mannered
absolutely stunning 🐎
Love the power they have!
These horses look like women .....bad beauties. Beautiful.
Great job guys.
5:00look at the muscular power of that old boy he is riped
Great horses and very willing. In the future I hope to see that their replacements will be allowed to have long tails. The handlers are good, too.

@@horatiohornblower868 I know, I had four Belgians. Now I have Percherons. I farm with horses.
Handlers are really dumb! Anyone knows you get on and ride back up for the next load! Those great tough horses would hardly notice the weight.
👍👌🇨🇦❤, new sub, gr8 video content
Such quiet workers, some without blinkers. All well fed and cared for.🐴🐴🐴🐴😷👍
My Mum would say that... flash back
Beautiful
Très beau cheval, bien dressé, très gentil. Hij gaat zonder hoefijzers?
Great to see this. 👍😁 Is that hornbeam or oak? What will the timber be used for?
Какие красавцы !
Is it dangerous to stand behind the horse cuz it can kick? I feel when your un chaining the horse can kick you your like right there
It depends on how the horse trusts ya
Which country
I have no idea how they steer with a single pull rope and no body contact
For explanation of driving with a single line, look at ua-cam.com/video/DxU_KN3vjiY/v-deo.html
Do u think horses know they are helping?
Probably, but with animals you never know, their emotions aren’t easy to read.
I wish I had the lugs, heart, thighs, legs and hooves of a horse like that.
Gee where is your cart. What will you do with that oak over there, girdle it?
First minut like matches fire sticks

Logging? . . . looks more like gathering firewood . . . very strange video.
*snap* and walk away .... just enjoy the video, rod!

I can't believe how much they can pull !! joke.
Not very smart or thoughtful of the horse to have them trying to pull up onto a pile of logs like that way. Good way to injure the horse
😍🤗💋💋💋
A lot of that look like dog wood , meaning a dog could pull it .

irony: the final sequence shows a horse with no tail - while the lady wears her hair in a ponytail...........
You did? Well people over here have logged with these horses and chopped tails for centuries, what do they know eh?
Those loads are very much embarrassing.
It’s not a competition, just a job that needed done.

No, they're not. And I don't like to see tails bobbed off right through the bone. But good horses and great work.
Is the black horse a Belgian, too? they are both stunning, and such well trained logging horses.
