I don’t know what the British Army do now but I remember my grandfather, who fought with the Devonshire Regiment during WW1, Passchendaele and other battles, telling me they used to march for 50 minutes then take a ten-minute break every hour.
Ah down ere in Dorset you! When we get back to normal you might enjoy the Purbeck 16 (actually 17.2 miles) does the coastal route then inland onto the escarpment with a 3 mile climb
Before you get to Pcoy you’ve got to focus on entry level standard. 11.6 bleep test as a minimum, regularly do 4-5 mile tabs (15min miles, 12 if you’re ready for it). Getting your body used to weights. Get some AKU’s, great boots for training, they’re also British army issued.
I get that ache with some rucksacks even when cycling. Change your rucksack, if you can. Otherwise, your gait/stance. It might be a case of leaning back more.
@Craig Hollman, what would you think would be an acceptable target time for tabbing a half marathon in helmet+body armour+daysack (total weight roughly 20kg +) ? CFT pace? Or faster?
Hey Craig, Just finishing up at ITC Catterick in the next 2 months then will be based in Chepstow. Do love my Weighted runs and Tabs and wondered if you ever met with any of your followers to do workouts?
@@user-pq9he5bh1c Take it week by week, day by day, hour by hour. There are some great parts to training that are super fun, but there is also some really crap parts also. Just always remember no matter how hard it is it will always finish just keep pushing through. Hope that helps
Hi Craig, I have 20kg and 16 miles in Dartmouth coming up. Is it normal to feel pain / back ache during? I have been strolling with 10kg as a test with cast iron weight for 5km and my back kills afterwards! 🙈
Currently at Harrogate struggling with tabbing as I’m only 5 ft 8 and 64 kg but running and everything else I am one of best in platoon. Any tips for someone so small like me to improve?
Hey i have a question about deployment and then how that county’s laws affect us. I was more wondering about the homophobic laws like with afghan as its a death penalty “crime”
Jack morgan it’s complicated with Afghan law. males are quite close to each other. They hold hands and stuff. And it goes down every Thursdays. Elders are allowed a young ‘un to dress up as a woman and entertain ( don’t ask, think you know). Saudi Arabia is more ruthless with man love. Don’t know about other Muslim countries.
Craig. what bag would you suggest buying to tab that will still come in usefull when i join? Been following your workouts ready for selection and im seeing a huge difference already

Didn’t even know the Uk had beaches like that
We have loads of nice ones like that
does the pain between your shoulderblades ever go away during tabbing?
I've never had that pain before
I get that ache with some rucksacks even when cycling. Change your rucksack, if you can. Otherwise, your gait/stance. It might be a case of leaning back more.
Fantastic
Have you ever thought about doing your AACC?
Yeah went to do it years ago but my regiment wouldn't let me move to do it
Nice video fella 👍. Quick question please, would it be better to increase mileage or weight first.
@Craig Hollman, what would you think would be an acceptable target time for tabbing a half marathon in helmet+body armour+daysack (total weight roughly 20kg +) ? CFT pace? Or faster?
Doing it with that anytime would be acceptable, it all depends on your fitness level

Question to put out there; is their a comfortable Army rucksack?
I really like Camelbak they have great daysacks
Cool vid but making 40kg for the new CFT is gonna be a pain

Try not to use a dead weight bud. Sleeping system and other normal kit should do.

I was the opposite mate, junk at running ~ 10 min bft, but enjoyed tabbing whilst the decent runners suffered lots on cft. Just how it is i suppose???
Train strength
Anyone else find it funny that the advert on this video was for sparkle girls
18th october intake at ITC anyone?
can anyone recommend a good backpack that dosnt look military?
hiya craig, great video as always. im 32 ive sent ff application for regular soldier. you think its passable being the age i am?
Age doesn’t mean anything mate, as long as you got the fitness and mental resilience you’ll smash it👍🏻
Just did para selection with a 33 year old. Im 20, I failed and he passed. Age means nothing if you work hard brother
@@splinterz_0z152 cheers lads gave me a massive mental boost now
@@shmached cheers lad, you gonna try it again?
@@tommyboy4989 unfortunately not mate, that was my second and final crack. Start date october 18th for the royal anglians though 😁
