A fully qualified electrician that's up to date with current regs shouldn't have to be registered with anyone, we've went to college and done the hard the work, now we have to pay them, it's bollocks
You don’t have to be registered with a CPS scheme to do your thing, if your experienced, competent and hold qualifications where applicable such as 2391 for PRS scheme you can crack on! Brush up on what is notifiable and what is non notifiable and provide the certification accordingly, if a notification is required for such as new installations, consumer unit upgrades or work within bathroom domestically then you can contact the council, other wise extending circuits to include more accessories, EICR’s repairs and maintenance and all commercial works are non notifiable 👍
Great video, I tried to get back with Napit’s after leaving them for a few years, when I tried to get back with them they told my qualifications did not meet the current criteria and would have to pay for and go on another course with Napit’s, I qualified around early to mid 2000, so I was a bit surprised.
Same here, loads of qualifications C&G installers & AM2 in the late 90's, mostly worked in industry so CompEx etc etc, recently did 18th Edition and Part P as I wanted to do some domestic stuff for a change and just get 'computer says no' from NAPIT & NIC, told to go and do a L3 NVQ... nope lol
Bottom line a great electrician is not the aim of his or her knowledge. Qualifications and work experience rather it is the work ethic to continually work hard to deliver great outcomes and continue on the lifelong continuing education.
I failed an assessment last year and was told it would cost 300 for revisit it turned out £480 total rip off firm. Was with Elecsa but NIC retired it over covid..thinking of leaving for Napit 👍🏻
NICEIC, Napit. Load of bollocks. What do they actually do for the monet they charge? I'm not a member of any of them, when I was made redundant in Sept of 2021 I tried to join them, they told me that I couldn't because all of the criteria fo membership had changed on the 1st September and I would need to take additional Qualls to be able to join as a domestic installer. Looking back I'm glad I didn't as the majority of the work I do is all non notifiable anyway, so I might have wasted my money. Seems to me that you pay a lot of money for them to do nothing for the majority of time.
NICEIC are a joke, As a time served Apprentice JIB Electrician with 236 Part 1 and 2 and the AM2 I couldn't join their domestic scheme, whilst NAPIT said I could join theirs!

@@davidfrith6066 all a bunch of theives as far as I’m concerned.
Used to be able to do a blue flame with them and that got me thru early days.
Agree with all of it lad! Use to self-certify and that’s that.
