- Don't see this every day, young lad lost control, he didn't know why, probably loss of concentration, a lucky lad, no injuries and missed the Nissan on his inside. M6 Toll heading south.

Glad the sunbeam was unharmed 🙂

Yes thank god ! 😂
No fun to crash them, all a bit sharp n foldy, speaking as an expert in that field.
He paid to crash here, there are plenty of roads you can do that for free on.
Brilliant.
depends on if that was before or after the toll. I don't think you have to pay for the car on top of a flatbed.....
You have roads where you have to pay? Wtf :D
@@mixlllllll It's pretty much the only road in the UK where you have to pay. There are also a few bridges where you have to pay to drive over them. But that's nothing compared to some other countries, try France to start with. Plenty of their motorways are toll. I think Italy has quite a few as well.
@@ArminGrewe Okay now i remember hearing about those toll roads. Shocked me first because i had forgotten that those exist 😁
Good to see people stopping to check on the wellbeing of the individual/individuals.
Luckily the young lad driving the Polo was okay.
@@stevezephyr that's good to hear.
Can't stop on a motorway....£100 fine...😂😂😂
@@professorplums722 This isn't stopping for convenience. we have hard shoulders for a reason.
@@professorplums722 - unless you have good reason - technically all the vehicles that stopped were involved in the incident in some way.
I'd crash too if I listened to what the cammer was hearing on the radio.
As the cammer this had me howling. I must admit I've no idea what I was listening to, when I was truck driving I just had the radio on as background. Great comment 😂😂😂😂
@@stevezephyrIt astounds me that this stuff even gets in the air waves. What station was it? I'm intrigued. I drive a coach so it might be handy incase I need to put all the difficult b*stards and w*nkers to sleep. 🤣🤣🤣😉
@@1ns4ne1d10t more than likely Radio 4 Extra, I used to listen to plays and podcasts. I'm not that much better now I've retired, I listen to Audiobooks now, usually sci-fi. There's plenty of boring shite out there on the airwaves, good luck with those passengers 😂😂😂😂
@@stevezephyr I dont know anything much past Radio 1, BBC Berks, or Capital. Maybe BBC Radio 2 or BBC Radio Solent? I havn't listened to stations for donkeys years because I just can't stand radio. I stopped radio ever since being a PCV dogs body. All they ever do is ask you to turn it up to a volume that'll cause a coach crash. So it's best never to have it on and keep the journey simple. So your not driving artics anymore?
@@1ns4ne1d10t sadly not, my last HGjob was working for United Utilities chauffeuring tanks of fresh water to bursts, topping up reservoirs or scouring mains pipes. Such an easy job covering the northwest of England. I had reached statutory retirement age and intended working another two years before I actually retired. Unfortunately I had a stroke from which I have recovered well but I was not allowed to drive HGVs for twelve months so I decided to retire. I've got my hobbies in particular motorbikes as you'll see if you look through my channel. 😁😊
For those wondering what's going on with that bizarre radio broadcast playing in the background, it's about the introduction of the penny black, the world's first adhesive postage stamp in 1840.
I was compelled to google some of the words myself. I think it's from the program "The People's Post: A Narrative History of the Post Office" by Dominic Sandbrook.
All i know from this is that there isn't enough time in 100 lifespans to learn everything.
😂😂😂👍🏻
i don't think anybody was particularly wondering lol
@@eriksipos373 24 people were lol
I'd say he was on his phone texting, not looking at the road causing the car to drift to the right, he looks up from phone and realizes he's drifting into guardrail and gets a fright... over corrects and the rest is history.
Definitely sounds like what happened, luckily everyone was okay, especially the Sunbeam as somebody pointed out.
i am happy that i have a lane assist. haha
@@The_JailerYh tbh I have an older car too. Just takes a few seconds for you to start drifting when at high speeds

At least the sunbeam was not harmed anything else there are all plastic cars now nice looking sunbeam

Felt bad when first thought is not the sunbeam. Glad everyone was ok.
There’s always a classic car in these videos
That's...why I'm here.
@@integralhighspeedusb Hello there
Photoshopped in!
It's actually pretty funny having this road crash juxtaposed with "the satisfaction of slobbering over Her Majesty's back" and "You will actually kiss little missy's behind!"
Lol i was thinking that
Sunbeam Alpine is lovely. Hope nobody was hurt here
Even on a nearly empty motorway there are still people who hog the bloody middle lane.
If you pull into lane 1 going through a junction, you’ll usually have to move back to lane 2 with cars joining from the slip road, so it’s pointless
I really like how everyone stopped to help him. These are good people.
Brakes were good on that classic Sunbeam
Yeah, not driving like a twat helps too. It’s the little cars that think they’re driving Ferraris.
Phew, the sunbeam is alright 😅
I can't help but notice that the sunbeam's numberplate has 666 on it lol. Coincidence maybe???
So glad the Sunbeam Tiger was not taken out in the crash .
Driving like that takes its toll
He was actually providing a valuable public service. His mission that day was to get that pain in the arse lane hogger into lane 1. Well done lad. I owe you a pint.
As a Honda Civic owner I’m glad the Honda wasn’t hurt 😂
❤
I don't know why this suddenly appeared on my home page as it seems to have been uploaded 4 years ago, but looking at the dates of the comments, they are also recent views.
Anyway, this was a good capture of the incident. I don't know what the accident record is like on this road, but for me it is one of the best motorways in the country. It is worth the toll for the smooth ride and lack of congestion and that makes it feel safer than the horrible smart motorways. Well done to all those who stopped to assist.
Same
It's UA-cam's algorithm, happens all the time
are there any cameras? lol
The man in the red car pulled over and got out like was on patrol good job
Wouldn't have parked the sunbeam that close if it was mine 😊..
Looks like he realised he was drifting and panicked. Probably the worst thing you can do is jerk the wheel at national speed limit.
Beautiful Sunbeam, as for the accident, ehhh...
Alpine
Oh look, a hard shoulder, how useful that I didn't have to spread the crash out over a mile and a half.
I bet that Sunbeam driver was shitting himself with his brakes borrowed from the Titanic. Glad he wasn't involved though.
So glad the young lad was ok from this smash.😊
I had a similar even in my smart car in proper TORRENTIAL RAIN. I have traveled that road thousands of times going to work on the M4 - I thought I knew it? I was in the middle lane and GENTLY moved to the nearside lane then, the car suddenly aquaplaned on, what I can only describe as a small 'river' running across the motorway (IT REALLY WAS DUMPING DOWN) Then - BOOM - the car span 6 times and bounced into the central reservation Armco - then BACK to the nearside Armco then BACK into the 3rd lane! On my dashcam it took less than 10 seconds but it felt longer. I just shut my eyes and waited to die there were no other cars around. When I opened my eyes there was a Merc heading towards me like 90MPH (why in the outside lane no idea) but he saw me and swerved into a tank slapper. He stopped and pulled me out of the car. We discovered one of the rear wheels was GONE.......... hanging on by a pipe. The good old Motorway cops arrived followed by the Highway Agency guys . They close the M4 to clear the wreckage (but this was 3 am so EMPTY) ...very quickly and the cops told me I was lucky to be alive as they 'RARELY pull LIVE PEOPLE' out of crashed SMART CARS!!! 😮😧The car was a write off and my wife made me PROMISE not to but another. I usually drive a Volvo (bombproof) but I bought the Smart car as cheap tax and petrol! I learnt my lesson. DONT by a Smart car - all plastic and it will end badly.................. all it had was one tiny airbag - my Volvo has EIGHT hmmm.🤔 They have now modified the road in that spot as apparently it caused several crashes due to standing water! Dont think Ive seen rain like that before or since proper 'Biblical stuff' the kind the Ark was made for! DRIVE SAFE PEEPS.
i drive an austin metro which is even more dangerous in a crash, no airbags and made of very thin metal, i had some aquaplaning that scared the shit out of me but luckily it turned out okay, i was also having issues with the wipers at the time
@@ambivalentonion2620 I can relate from being in Minis with the same running gear. Heavy rain (on motorways in particular) is not fun at all.
Was the rain really TORRENTIAL whilst you moved GENTLY etc. What's with the CAPITAL letters ?
Scopex please answer me
Looks to me like he didn't pay attention (generally, phone, whatever, doesn't make much of a difference) and slowly drifted on to the rubble strip in the central reservation. That upset the balance of the car, driver overreacted and overcorrected with the outcome we've seen. I'm not sure, but I believe he didn't initially hit the barrier, I think that happened as a result of an overcorrection.
The value of the motorway crash barriers.
Indeed - and how useful hard shoulders can be. No shortage of all lane M ones now - such as some of the other M6.
Hi there, can I use this clip in my compilation? Any comment what happened? Thanks
The Rootes Group Sunbeam Alpine expensive in it's day and much respected. The demise of the Rootes Group was a sad day for British Motoring.
The red Qashqai did so well to avoid that.
Blowout or something on the road, it was a rather sudden change of direction?
Seeing the thumbnail I was worried the sunbeam was involved too 😅
as long as that sunbeam alpine is ok... phew
Oh dear, drifts to the right then harsh inputs cause a classic loss of control? I was really relieved to see it didn't stop on the carriageway though, that could have led to all sorts
Over corrected his first error
I'd like an explanation over what the hell is playing on the radio of the person recording!
A Radio 4 documentary about the post office.
What was that audio book? Sounded riveting.
Little Vicky behind . What radio station's that lol
Haha, I've no idea, possibly a recording, I used to listen to downloaded stories when driving, I don't work for that company now so don't do distance work, but I did listen to some oddball stuff at times lol!!!
How do you crash on a straight road where everyone is going in the same direction. Unbelievably poor driving.
@@bobbelsekwol Anything could have happened dude. Iy could be driver error or mechanical, until you know don't assume.
@@bobbelsekwol the car he passed saw him weave as he approached them, as he came passed he was reaching for something on the passenger seat. The young lad driving said that he was distracted.
Put the subtitles on. They're hilarious. 😁
Hey Steve! Is it okay to use it please ? Credited of course. Thanks in advance.
And this shows that the sunbeam even came over a little too early.. no harm in going up ahead further before coming over in front of the truck.
I got a car insurance ad before this video
Jeez crashes on the quietest motorway in the UK.
Bizzare cosy radio bedtime story accompanying a motorway pile up. Hope they were ok. Well done for stopping.
@Steve Nichol Hi, could I use this clip on my channel, linked and credited of course
Hi, yes absolutely, no problem 😊😊😊
@@stevezephyr Cheers mate 👍
Hi there buddy, good catch. I hope the driver was okey. Would you mind if I used this clip on my channel WP Dash Cams completely credited to you of course 😃👍.
Clearly using their phone, explains the drifting to the right
I'm just glad there was a hard shoulder for everyone to pull over on. "Smart motorways" don't allow for these kind of mistakes. 😕
You can read the program on the transcript 😂😂😂 btw what camera is that? Quality is great!
Are we just going to ignore the radio 😂
Good of you all to stop and help.
Baring mechanical failure I'd say this was a phone text accident. Just a guess, hope everyone was ok.
I think they were seriously hurt, there is a big round shatter on the windscreen where the head has hit the windscreen that can only happen if they were not wearing a seat belt 😢
The windscreen is perfectly intact.
Hey Steve Nichol, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) :) Cheers, Felix
Watching this early in the morning, my phone had closed captioning on by default since do not disturb was on. Ha! The text was pretty entertaining, as well as the video.
What a beautiful and sweet old car. Glad it was not involved.
Looks like another careless driver caused an accident, but nice to see some good samaritans pull over.
Smartphone in hands, i bet. Driver license = gone 😂
When you try and do a scandi flick at 80mph
That has to be fake! Well according to Ashley Neil that only happens when undertaking.
Please tell me you had your 5 year old in the passenger seat and they were listening to the story
That sunbeam number plate 666
What is this driver listening to???
"He didn't know why".
I'd be willing to bet that he knew perfectly well, but wasn't willing to admit that he was looking at his phone/otherwise distracted instead of paying attention to the road.
Nice to see people stopping to help.
Using a phone in the righthand lane. Please ban this person for life, I don't want them kiling innocent people
Amazing how useful the hard shoulder is when you need to get off the motorway in an emergency like this.
Quick thinking from the civic driver Masha Allah. Plus good thing it didn't hit that sunbeam or that would have been catastrophic for the occupants. Hope the polo occupants are okay...
To be it looked like he panicked because the Honda was coming up his arse, probably distracted looking in the mirror, realised he was drifting to the right, jerked the wheel to the left and lost control.
How did they crash?
Lost concentration or distracted, by the looks of it, possibly an inexperienced driver. Drifted right, brought back to reality by the rumble strip, overcorrected left, then OVERCORRECTED right, dynamic forces were too much combined with the short wheelbase of a Polo at 80-90 mph, and it spun out.
@@Murph9000 Spot on description Murph ....
What the hell were you listening to???
Radio 4 Extra I think, I used to put it on as background noise 🤣🤣🤣
That audio was just perfect 🤣
What the hell was he listening to?
Wot is this guy listening to
How on earth do you crash on a relatively straight wide road🙄
How the hell do you lose control like this?
distraction
Stupidity probably 🫣
It looks like his offside wheels drifted into the gravel by the central reservation, which then causes the cars momentum to slow on that side, putting him in a spin, and the rest is in the clip. The gravel and or grass edges on a motorway are there to aid slowing and stopping a vehicle, to prevent it causing further damage. Unfortunately, if you clip it, this happens, or worse. Everyone was thankfully lucky here.
@@andrewhaines3259 Surely that would pull his car to the right?
@PaulMaceOfficial if you slow the clip down, the car twitches right, then he must have reacted against that, which has resulted in the inevitable spin. I spun on black ice on the motorway a couple of years ago. When my car hit the grass verge, it was very unforgiving! Whatever the driver did, he wasn't concentrating on driving. Just fortunate no one was severely injured or killed.
Suddenly hitting the central reservation.. Gotta be using a cell phone. 😮
What’s more shocking is the crap this driver is listening to on the radio.
None of your business.
@@barrysteven5964 .. You made it everyone’s business posting this rubbish on social media you dumb ass. Lol 🤡😂
They'll have to put speed cameras on that section of road now.
I bet they won't.
One moment of inattention, and your day is bollocks.....
That's one way of not paying that blasted M6 Toll.
Polo....the car with the hole in the middle....
😂
Good of him to park his totalled polo on the grass verge
Wtf was on the radio
A radio documentary about the post office.
How do you oversteer a little polo 😂
So relieved that the Sunbeam wasnt involved but these little foreign cars are a bloody nuisance ! Hopefully written off . ( I am Sunbeam owner too ) and find that lesser cars are driven by people who are hell bent on showing me that there little pesky foreign car that they have gone into debt for and propping up some foreign car workers job ) is faster than my 60 year old Sunbeam Pisses me off !
The UK has foreign car plants, bmw mini, honda, toyota to name a few. It's our own fault that we don't have Triumphs or MGs to sell anymore. The 70s sorted that.
And the car in question is definetly not financed. It's a polo, which was probably worth less than your Sunbeam.
Wish you the best and your wonderful Sunbeam ❤
Looks like a Tyre blow up or some kind of steering problems
I played it in slow motion, no sign of a blowout that I could spot. Notice that he slowly drifts towards the barrier, over the rumble strip, then suddenly overcorrects.
You can see all the tyres are fine as he crashes.
Almost certainly a lapse in concentration (likely a phone) followed by a panicked overcorrection
At least he parked it out of the way, at the end
The radio💀
He got off lucky
Of course they crashed eventually, everyone's driving on the wrong side of the road!! 😱
The quietest motorway in the country and still a driver is incapable of paying attention to the road ahead.
Wtf were you listening to?
Radio 4 I think, just noise really lol!!!!
Takes some doing crashing on that toll road, after all it’s always light traffic!
