As a former mechanic I do ALL my repairs. Might hurt for a few days afterwards but I'm saving money 💰. If you can't do it yourself definitely shop around for best prices.
@slowridersmotovlog201 just ordered a new windshield for my scooter...getting ready for cold weather. Hopefully I'll have a bigger scooter by then. Looking at a Silver Wing
The 400 + one was probably for getting the valves checked also. My wife’s pcx had its break in at 600 miles. That’s oil, valve clearance, and some other odds and ends being checked. It was over 400 bucks and they had the bike over night.
Yes please make more videos like this. I just got mine on Tuesday already got 60 miles on it. Even went out in the heat on Thursday it was a hot one here in central PA!
@slowridersmotovlog201 i was looking into getting one and was watching a lot of videos on them but it was your videos that convinced to buy one. Thanks for videos!
I use AMSOIL in everything I own be it my truck or my chainsaws. As for my scooter I like using AMSOIL 15W-40 Diesel oil. Even at $15.50 a quart it's still cheaper than paying a shop to do something I can do myself. Since it's an air-cooled machine with flat tappet cams the extra added zinc helps over the stock 10W-40. It also helps out with the extra stress the hilly roads put on it too. Oil is cheap engines are not. I have a friend that used to own his own mechanic shop. He said other shops charged $100 per hour of work done because they have to follow what the regulations book said. So it doesn't matter if they did 5 minutes of work polishing your taillight lenses they have to charge for a full hour of work. He on the other hand didn't care what the requirements were he only charged people $80 an hour. He always gave my friend and I "friend pricing" so we always got a good deal. But we always threw in some extra even if he didn't ask for it. We didn't like the idea not giving enough especially when he was dealing with working on our rusty vehicles. :)
You are right. 15 to 20 minute oil change is absolutely ridiculous at a dealership. Even if they checked the valve clearance no way should it cost that much. Checking valves is almost as easy as changing oil.

Isn’t that the truth. You can hear getting off the garage floor
