In the realm of iron and sweat, I’ve had numerous delightful exchanges with fellow gym enthusiasts, particularly the women. However, I’ve never harbored any ulterior motives, merely engaging in casual conversation when it seemed appropriate. I’ve always believed that asking for someone’s number in the gym, without any prior rapport, would be rather uncouth. Our conversations usually revolved around gym-related topics. Whenever I witnessed an impressive feat, regardless of whether it was performed by a man or a woman, I made it a point to acknowledge it. This often led to a brief, yet pleasant, exchange of words. There was one instance, however, when our conversation transcended the usual gym chatter. I was engrossed in performing strict barbell overhead presses when a woman began doing a variation of the same exercise on the rack next to me. She had ingeniously loaded her weights on rubber bands, a technique aimed at enhancing stability. Intrigued by her unique setup, I expressed my interest in trying it out. She agreed, albeit with a playful warning that I might need to add a bit more weight. To my surprise, moments later, she suggested that I press her overhead. The prospect of lifting a human being above my head was an entirely new experience for me. Despite the initial hilarity of trying to get her into the lifting position, I managed to execute the lift flawlessly, thanks to my strong pressing ability and her petite frame. Her excitement was palpable as she exclaimed, “You’re so damn strong!” I responded with a chuckle, saying something along the lines of, “Yeah, first time trying that. I’m glad I didn’t drop you!” However, being the introverted individual that I am, I quickly wrapped up the conversation with a casual, “Anyway, I’m out. See you,” and walked away, never to see her again. The entire situation was such an unexpected and amusing sequence of events that I believe both of us will remember it for a long time. In all honesty, I would have liked to maintain contact with people with whom I share such unique memories. But alas, that never happened. Perhaps, years from now, we might cross paths again, recognize each other, and share a hearty laugh about that day. One can only hope.

I talked to a girl at the gym once. I said "yes" when she asked if one of the pulldown handles next to me was available. Are we engaged now?
How dare she talk to you without your consent? She's not entitled to your time. That's literally harassment.
