LOL was gunna write here as well. And yes, pre-ordered 11" Air for the wife. She has a 2017 iPad Pro and all is good except the battery. Figured after 7 years it is a good investment.
iPadOS is far superior to macOS, tehy will never bring macOs to iPad, NOTHING has professional software made for touch from the ground up. i mean android is a complete joke just as windows touchtops, thats the mess you get with ancient OS on a touchscreen, the software has "some" touch features but in the end it really is a total mess and brings basically nothing to the table. asking why an iPad needs so much power is like asking why a mac would need an M1 or even a pro or max or ultra series. ofc for the same reason, ppl need more power. the Problem is education, ppl have no idea about iPadOS and iPad in general. they see it as a big iphone to watch youtube. which is absolutely not the case.
I’m an engineer by day, MDiv master’s degree student by night. iPad Pro has been the only computer I’ve used for more than 5 years and it’s met all my needs and then some. It also serves as my library for my books for my courses, makes reading and research papers very easy to read/write. Can’t recommend it enough!!!
@@jr243-r6wwell if you choose the 256gb and 520gb options you’ll only get 9 cores instead of the 10 with the 1tb and 2tb models. So it’ll be better if you get the 1tb option. Hope this helps!
People splurge on TV’s for the display quality alone, no different here. MacBook Air with pedestrian LCD or ‘the most advanced display ever made’ with touch input and ability to detach from keyboard.
Exactly. If I’m not mistaken, LG provided the displays for Apple. LG arguably makes some of the best top of the line OLED tv’s and I have one of them. This year’s LG G4 to be exact. I completely agree with you. If you watch HDR content or play games, that makes this iPad worth it by itself. The deeper blacks, higher color accuracy, better brightness, and higher refresh rate is badass.
Why? I can do everything I want on an iPad without MacOS. Email, web browsing, watch videos, read books, write with both the Apple pencil and with a keyboard, draw. There's very little I can't do on it. I don't need MacOS.
macOS is not touch friendly and if porting when docked to an external display is your solution, that is niche, and no chance that will ever happen as there is zero upside for Apple.
that will never happen ever, NO. iPadOS is FAR SUPERIOR to macOS, just look at windows touchtops or android tablets, which are basically non existant. a complete mess. nothing has pro touch software like iPad. android hasnt even any pro software in the first place so.... there is a 99% chance an iPad can do your specific task better and faster than a mac could ever do. iPadOS is replacing macOS that is obvious to me. i cannot wait for pro, max and ultra series in the iPads, i need more power. and i need way bigger ipad Studios, but so far i am happy with where iPad is, it is apple best device hands down, ppl are just not educated.
I've own the 2018 11inch iPad Pro since it was released, kept pushing off upgrading because it worked fine for what I use it for (content consumption/amateur drawing) but after getting a 14 pro a couple years ago and being able to use an OLED screen for the first time as well as having a 16 inch MacBook Pro with an XDR display, getting myself the new 11inch 256gb iPad Pro was a no brainer for me
Once I’ve finished by studies, I’m exchanging my MacBook for the base M4 IPad Pro with the keyboard but no pencil. Will do everything I used my MacBook for apart from having slightly worse Microsoft apps (which I won’t need much after studies) but is a better option for flights, travel, is lighter and smaller and more. Great for more casual use once working full time
I’m gonna get me an iPad Pro 11”. I personally feel uncomfortable bringing my MacBook Pro to edit photos on the spot, when I can just bring an iPad for that sole purpose of editing on the go, but be more comfortable to where it’s not like having a feeling of bringing a heavier device just for editing. Having a iPad will also make my Apple ecosystem more accessible, but that’s a small reason for it.
@@jamchrista4784 I might do the same as OP. Card reader is not a huge deal since I've got dongle/adapters and I intend to mostly edit off the cloud. Import everything on my PC, edit on the go via Lightroom CC. An iPad is also easier to quickly pull out, edit a couple photos on a bus ride and chuck it back in the bag when alighting. It's not like MacOS has decent file management either. It's usable, but as a heavy Windows user, it's horrible for photo management. It's so bad I have to use Adobe Bridge as my photo file manager. In my case I don't think I'll be doing much file management, just purely editing and maybe exporting/sharing to my iPhone via AirDrop if required. The bulk of the final exports will still be done on my PC.
@@jamchrista4784 as stated before, I feel more comfortable bringing an iPad than a MacBook to edit while I'm out...less space, much lighter, and much more convenient for on the go purposes than the MacBook. Secondly, I carry a USB-C card reader with me when I take photos with my camera (before my iPad broke) to edit on the go. It may not be as good as the MacBook, but it still gets the job done; different devices, same results. Plus, I primarily take photos with my iPhone, so Airdropping them via my phone's hotspot is a simpler process than to have a card reader...not to mention, there's an app that can allow me to send photos from camera to iPad, so having a card reader is more like a backup option.
I ordered the 13 inch 1TB. My current iPad is the 3rd gen. And it has served me well till the last couple years. So I figure it’s time. Got the 1TB because I camp off grid and out of cell range a lot and carry a lot of content with me. And it was crazy expensive! But figure if I get 10 years out of it like my last one then it’s worth it.
I recently sold my M1 iPad Pro to a friend going to physician assistant school, and I was sorely missing my iPad Pro for note taking/planning in GoodNotes; document scanning and signing and media consumption. I have the M1 MacBook Pro 14” and while it does all the same things, I do miss the touch aspect of my iPad as well as cellular connectivity while I’m out of the house and I don’t want to use public WiFi. I pre ordered the 13” silver in 256GB with the Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard.
Same (using it now literally). Only way I'd upgrade/sell it if they put full blown Mac Os on these things. Otherwise I don’t see the point. Because if I was to “upgrade”, it's still running Ipad Os (but now a couple of milliseconds faster? Yay?)😢
Same. Unless they really come up with something game-changing this may be my last iPad (M1 Pro 1TB 11"). My MacBook Pro is more versatile and can run iPhone and iPad apps as well.....
@@bendalessandro2890 I don't have any issue with taking notes on it. It really depends on your personal preference and what you would be comfortable with.
You’re missing the point they used the M4 processor to run the tandem OLED display, and also keep the heat down due to the thin case structure, and also to keep the battery life at 10 hours. they’ve also added copper below the Apple logo to try to dissipate the heat. The M4 will work a lot more efficiently in such a small package. It was not put in there to speed up programs, etc..
I believe that Apple using M4 to reduced the form factor to a very thin slate is great, and the new iPads are extremely impressive in terms of technology. The issue that many users are noting, though, is that almost everything that M4 IPad Pros can do also be done on M1 iPad Pros at close to the same speed. Even the older 2018/2020 iPads Pros are still great, though they don’t have Thunderbolt and external monitor support like the M-series. I’m also suspecting that the performance difference between the base M4s and the $3K version will not be that noticeable. I can understand why people would want Apple to significantly power up iPadOS to justify how expensive they can be.
Hands down best video on the IPad Pro hype. Thank you for making consumers ask the honest question - is it really worth it the cost vs a M2. Appreciate you for being authentic!
In EU, the base 13" without any accessories is 1569 euros, which is just super expensive. I'm on a fence. Going to check benchmarks and stuff before getting it.
not worth that much for an iPad imo. even the m4 chip is limited with iPad os. you will end up spending 1500 euros to watch youtube play some mobile games and scroll big Instagram. trust me i did the same with the older m2 iPad pro and it just sits on my desk while i use my laptop or my phone.
@@theproblem9938 easily worth, no other device can deliver what ipad can, easily apple best product by far, phones are actually completely useless but an iPad, holy hell it changes your life. but most see them as big phones to watch youtube, which is not the case.
I used college discount and ordered the iPad Pro 11 base model in silver for $899. I traded in my iPad 11 pro m2 with 256GB. Down was $85 and. 12 month 0% at $35.
@@makeitrainnaren they don’t verify at all. Doesn’t matter if you’re a student or not. They let everyone use the discount but there’s a limit to how many of each device you may buy.
I ordered the iPad Pro 11 space grey base model from Best Buy today. The cost was $999 minus $50 with my total membership discount and I got a free $45 credit on next order by using my Best Buy credit card and it comes with a 2 year extra warranty. Hope I am happy with it. Wasn’t sure if I should have gone with the base model air and saved $400.
As a content consumer and not a creator, I'm no longer the target market for an iPad Pro anymore. Which is a shame, because OLED would be great for movies etc. But my current iPad Pro is happy because I'm going to buy it a new case as it's going to be around for a few more yearrs now😅
I have the 2018 11” pro, since security updates are ending, I feel I need to upgrade to something, hand it off to mom who doesn’t care about security updates. I very much want the OLED, just hard to justify at that price, especially when I have a M1 Max MacBook Pro, and an OLED monitor is more affordable 😂 I can’t edit photos to save my life with a mouse though. Those photos just get sent to a printer and hung on my wall and make no money, so $1400 for the iPad, $120 for the pencil and $300 for the keyboard hurts my soul.
@@GrigRP I drive a semi. Use a lot of guest WiFi in businesses when I stop for the night and my cellular reception is poor with both att and Verizon, and our entire lives are digital at this point. If the device was compromised, basically every part of me from the age of 12 onward is as well.
Ordered the cheapest 11 inch with the education discount. I’ve been dreaming about an OLED iPad pro for a long time. Reading documents on an OLED is just so much better. Also wanted to have final cut available, which I can’t get on my non M 2018 iPad Pro. That iPad has been my daily driver for 5 or 6 years. I still love it. But this new iPad is a dream come true.
8:19 iPad pro 2018 here, only 4GB RAM, 4G only and USBC limited to 10Gbps. I'd say there is slightly more reason to upgrade from 2018 than perhaps last gen but all depends on the individual.
Have to love a more powerful and premium looking device that weighs less than the previous generation. I couldn’t believe it when I got mine. The keyboard is so light.
I’m interested in the better screen on the 11” pro. I have an M1 12.9”, which I went for purely because of the improved screen over the 11” at the time, but the form factor has always been just a bit too big for my liking. It’s like lugging a laptop around, so I think it will be an 11”er for me.
Went for 11” myself for same reason, excited to see it tomorrow but price is insane, but I will keep it for years ahead so will be my way to justify it. Laptop can replace bigger screen, at least my usage 😊
I’m a high school student, and I preordered the 13 inch M4 iPad Pro with the accessories. I’m upgrading from my 2017 iPad Pro, which started to slow down with my power user student needs. I browse and annotate multiple huge PDFs (300+ MB) of my textbooks, and have ~1000 tabs open across safari tab groups. I also need to have a whole bunch of apps open and need my device to not get all laggy as I use my huge OneNote notebooks! I know it seems absurd to spend so much on an iPad, well that’s because it is. I just hope Apple gives us the OPTION of dual booting macOS when using the Magic Keyboard! This thing is faster than the M3 Pro MacBook Pro…
i have a macbook pro 16 inch , and am ordering the 11 inch m4 ipad base model , silver , with apple pencil . no magic keyboard because i dont see myself using the keyboard when i have a laptop , am getting it to fully use the pencil for notes and ideas and sketching stuff here and there , 11 inch instead of 13 for portability and good value for money as this time the 11 and 13 has no different in specs
I just ordered the M4 11 inch model. I don’t care about the cost. I also have an MBP M3 Max and latest Studio Display. And… I’m typing this on the M1 iPad Pro which I’m gonna flick. I use the iPad almost exclusively to surf the web. Really, I just like the idea of the OLED display and I’m into staying with the latest tech. Additionally, while I have enjoyed the 12.9 inch display of the iPad Pro the 11 inch is a better fit for me.
11 & 13-inch iPad Pro “complete package” pricing is more akin to MacBook Pro pricing, which I think is totally acceptable for those who want the best iPad they can buy for how they use the iPad. If you’re looking to get a cheap, good iPad comparable to a laptop, either of the iPad Air “complete packages” or even the standard iPad “complete package” is a better way to go for most people. So I don’t expect you’ll find that the base model iPad Pro complete package at $1500-1800 is suitable for most people, because it’s not intended for most people. And that’s okay.
Had the 1st ever iPad Pro. Bought this to upgrade it. The old iPad Pro was running just fine, but the storage was running out and not able to get further updates.
Upgraded my 2018 IPad Pro 256. Kept it at 256, my 2018 was just about half full. So I got the cheapest 13” Pro. 100% probably did not need to upgrade, but I am an OLED sucker.
If you need to feel better, security updates are ending soon for the 2018, which is my reason to upgrade. I’m not sure whether to go m4 or m2 though. I really want the OLED though >.>
I see many comments online regarding people having difficulty deciding on the 9-core CPU version. My take on the matter is that since the 9-core version performs similarly to the M3 chip, so it's not weak. If you are considering the 1TB model for the chip reason, you're essentially spending an additional $500 for a single-core upgrade, which isn't really worth it for most cats unless that one core makes a life and death difference to how you use the iPad. Additionally, most people don't need more than 256GB of storage, especially if you already have the 2TB iCloud+ monthly subscription. If you own an M1 or M2 model, the real question to ask yourself is how excited you are for the Tandem OLED. Otherwise, just forget it. The chip gimmick will always make whatever you buy today appear obsolete in a year or two, as seen with how the baseline M4 chips already outperform the M2 Max chip. So, instead of spending any money on an upgrade, it's better to just save it and go with the baseline. Perhaps in two or three years, you can get a brand new iPad with the money saved from not upgrading + the trade-in value.
@@stevenrobertson4190 yep. Most recent version is 17.4.1 and that’s what I’m running. With WWDC next month it’s possible a major update will be released and no telling when they will drop support, but for now it’s fully supported.
Still rocking an iPad Air M1. It has more power than my custom pc workstation. With a USB-C dock, I connect it to my 4K monitor and can do all of my video editing, livestreams, and everything else I need.
The base 256gb and 512gb versions only have a 9 core CPU with 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores. If u want 10 core CPU u need to get the 1tb version.
@@AbdelrahmanAnany This is most likely going to be a bigger difference compared to the lack of one performance core on the SoC. I hate this latest trend of Apple making difference within specific SKUs like this. Just annoying to obfuscate things in such a way. Especially without mentioning it in a more noticeable way upon ordering.
Purchased the iPad Air with 256. I did not want to throw out my $300 Magic Keyboard or go to the trouble of getting a few dollars for it. It was bad enough that I had to buy another Apple pencil. Apple is being ridiculous requiring us to purchase new accessories with each new iPad. If I had a brain in my head, I would have bought the $349 iPad and called it a day.
My wife is a tablet convert. She prefers iPad Pro over MacBook Air/Pro. We are going to replace hers with the new iPad Pro 13-inch. This looks like the most notable upgrade of the iPad Pro in a long time. No more blooming from the mini-LED display when moving to OLED. The Magic Keyboards gets some decent updates as well going aluminimum and finally getting function keys. The only annoying thing according to my wife is the decision of making it thinner over adding a larger battery. She doesn't feel much benefit of it becoming thinner but compared to my MacBook Pro with M1 Pro she does get jealous about my full day battery life. The iPad Pro has never been able to get anywhere close to a full day of battery, and this doesn't seem to change anything in that regard.
Don’t you know, the new 11 is the new mini? 😊 The iPad mini is now in a deep Sleeping Beauty sleep, until a prince awakens it with a ingenious marketing kiss.
If you're an artist, creator, business owner, entrepreneur, multitasker, multi-talented individual, engineer, money-maker, big spender, tech enthusiast, or simply savvy enough to avoid wasting money on a laptop that could fail you due to battery issues - you'll understand the frustration of having to replace the entire device for minor faults, if the keyboard malfunctions or the screen breaks, it often means having to invest in a new device every 2-3 years. In contrast, with an iPad, you only need to consider an upgrade every five or six years, offering a longer-lasting and more cost-effective solution.
My M1 pro is my daily machine for note-taking, sketching, browsing and emailing. I also use it for AI tools and multi tasking in conjunction with my M1 Max. It's an excellent machine. The new iPad pro is perfecting things like webcam placement and weight. I am however doubtful about the OLED screen as i am worried about PWM eye strain.
I purchased my first iPad pro in 2017. It was 256gb and cellular. Purchased the 2018 iPad pro in 2020. It had 1tb and cellular. Then I purchased the M2 iPad pro with same specs. All of them are 11 inch. If the air at the time offered 1tb of storage I would have purchase those instead. Unless these new M4 iPads have some extremely groundbreaking software, I won't be upgrading to them and will keep my M2. I like to edit videos mobile which is why I like my cellular on my iPads.
When I studied my degree in visual communications at the UKs finest art & design university I was taught to create with my mind and not worry about applications, latest tech or software. I don’t care for the latest apple products because my skill is superior and for half the price I can get more - and new chips coming for android will easily compete with m chips if not blow them out the water.
Preordered it. I have a M1 but always wanted an OLED screen on it. The iPad is one of my primary devices for media consumption given how portable it is but the screen was always just ok. Now it seems like it has possibly the best screen Apple makes, so I’m all for it.
I greatly appreciate your down to earth thinking and approach to tech reviews. You might want to do a compare of the iPad Pro 2024 vs Galaxy Tab S9 and talk about how Samsung already had many of the features in there years ago. Also mention how as great as the 2024 iPad Pro is now, its still missing GPS in its base model and IP68 water and dust resistance. I am buying the iPad Pro 2024, but I am still keeping the S9 as a backup for when I am near water or want to do some navigation.
Totally happy with my 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro. Works like a charm for my needs. I sold my M1 iPad Pro 12,9" and got the iPad mini 6 and I adore the smaller formfactor. The big iPad Pro is just useless to me if I have already a good and powerful enough MacBook. I really wish they release an iPad mini 7 at some point, with promotion display. But I guess this won't happen.
5:25 hard agree. I never would've needed a laptop if I could install my necessary work apps along with good window management on my iPad Pro, but here I am.
I sure wish I could use my iPad as a full Mac when needed. I finally ditched my MacBook because iPad and MacStudio work for me 99% of the time but I have to borrow my wife’s laptop for the other 1%. It kills me that my iPad could run Mac software and I would never need a laptop if Apple allowed it. I would give them the additional price of a cheap Macbook just for the privilege.
I will be buying this new version as a digital artist, so laptop is way too inconvenient for doing my digital art, whereas this ipad (ignoring the pricing) is useful for me to all the digital artwork I need to do at any given place.
Yup, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered it. Story time. So what happened was… I bought the first iPad Pro 12.9 and it’s still in use daily almost 10 years later. I it went to my stepfather after I ordered the 2018 with 1TB. But the MacBook Pro M1 was released so upgraded my MBP from the 2012 to the M1 with 1TB and thought I wouldn’t use the iPad Pro so I sold my 2018 with the keyboard and my friend stopped using his MacBook Pro once he received the 2018 iPad Pro and its still uses it daily. I was good with the new M1 MBP, or so I thought but found myself in some cases still missing the iPad Pro. Sooooo I bought a used M1 iPad Pro 12.9 with 256GB storage and keyboard for a good price and it’s been a daily driver but lacking in storage for how I use it. The MBP M1 hasn’t seen much love but in a few small one offs that I could probably just have used my Raspberry Pi 4 or windows laptop for. Things like de-bricking something and local hardware updates with a programmer. The mini-LED display on the M1 iPad Pro is impressive. Unfortunately I think someone at some point in time put a lighting plug into the USB-C port of the M1 IPad Pro and some pins are damaged for the data transfer. I have the part but have not done the repair yet. If I screw up the repair and crack that display I’m done, with the cost of that display would be more than the used price I paid for it. So now comes in the dual OLED thinner M4 iPad Pro with what seems to be a better keyboard. And a change to update again with more storage this time. Once I get the new one I ordered with 1TB and new keyboard I will probably do the repair on the M1 iPad Pro and if all goes well either sell it or pass it on. And now I am seriously thinking about selling the M1 MacBook Pro since it really doesn’t get used often. Selling both will help offset the new cost of the M4 iPad Pro. I also look at it like its an investment considering all my old iPad Pro are still being used daily almost 10 years old, and even my 2012 MBP is still being used almost every day. So hopefully the new iPad Pro M4 will last just as long and my only concern is the dual OLED and how these panels will handle burn in. Hope Apple is driving them with variable refresh rebate in tandem hopefully to help them also last 10+ years. I guess I will just have to wait and find out.
Once again, you're right, there has never been a hardware problem with the iPad ... it's an OS problem. GarbageOS continues to hold back the iPad. There is almost nothing I need from these new amazing pieces of hardware that my 2018 iPad Pro won't do. And I am certainly not spending ONE THOUSAND dollars on an iPad when it's impossible to take advantage of the amazing hardware. -- If Apple would just dump GarbageOS and allow the iPad to go from iOS to MacOS when a keyboard is attached it would be the PERFECT device. Until that day happens I'll keep buying awesome MacBook Airs and hold on to my very old iPad Pro. My M2 MacBook Air is amazing and it was like $1600 (almost) two years ago.
I still have the M1 MacBook Pro and 14 Pro Max and still running like new. I also have the M1 IPad Air but my 12 year old brother’s regular iPad is dying out so I plan to give him my iPad Air and I’ll get the 11 inch pro. If it weren’t for me giving my current m1 iPad air to my brother, I wouldn’t even think about upgrading since it’s still running beautifully.
I got the 2022 model last week. When I heard about this one, I returned the other and got the 13” base model in silver. Main appeal for me is the OLED screen and the landscape camera.
LOL, I preordered the Pro 11, coming from a 2018 Pro 11. Main reason? Battery issues on a 6 yr old Apple device and I guess the improvements in screen, connectivity and ….battery.
I just purchased the 13” iPad Pro for my fiance so she can use it for her therapy sessions since I’m using the only computer in the house. I think it will work great. Plus I can take my hours of UA-cam to something better and better. We all love UA-cam Edit: Also I think all the power is for the future when they come out with larger updates etc. I could be completely wrong who knows
I went 13" 512 cellular even though I have a lot on the cloud as well. Upgrading from an 11" M1 Pro. Disappointed I get a binned chip in it because I didn't need 1TB for $400 more but excited to see what Apple does at WWDC, hopefully we have more reasons to use IPadOS than to watch movies and play games. I do use mine often for sheet music when I play live as well but even the cheapest iPad would handle that.
Great review , the only other update which I might actually be interested in would be the relocated camera to allow better landscape use…..I’m not sure that is worth the two grand though. Thoughts on Apple moving away from iOS on the iPad with a significant update at WWDC?
absolutely agree with you on every point. I'm waiting to see what the new iPadOS brings to the table even then I'm happy with my 12.9" M1 iPad pro. The cost of the new setup just kills any desire for it in my book
I’m an illustrator so iPad is my main device. I have the M2. The only thing that tempts me about the new ones is the OLED display…so it’s tempting but keeping what I have.
3:00 the iPad isn't very powerful. As someone who uses the M2 13" iPad Pro regularly, there is a lot it refuses to do: you can only have a handful of browser tabs open before they start unloading and you are limited on how many apps will run at once before they start crashing.
I am currently using 11” M1 iPad Pro more than my M1 MBA. Yeah! Love the new Magic Keyboard and the thin form factor. Thinking of getting the base model 11” M4 iPad.
I went for the 13" with pencil.. not possible to order the keyboard in Denmark yet. the most important for me is the pencil for drawing, Im really looking forward to that.. why the 13"... well why not, I think the 11" is enough, but I got so use to my 12´9" M2 iPad, so going "down" to 11" ... If you really need a new pro, and don´t have the 12,9", I would settle for an 11". For everyday use, my Ipad is the go to, the Imac M3 (a beast) is "collecting dust"... Im looking forward to wwdc, I think (hope) apple will make Ipad great again, just love it! by the keep up the good work
Magic Keyboard should be available, as it's available in other Nordic countries and we share the same keyboard layout. It looked like it was unavailable to me as well (Norway), but I just had to click save on the engravings on the iPad Pro and Apple Pencile Pro, then the Magic Keyboard became available.
Why? Because it gives you the flexibility of pulling it off the Magic Keyboard and using as an iPad, but all the power of in-between a MacBook Air and Pro. MacBooks don't have touchscreens or Pencil capabilities, but has longer battery life. Why is the iPad mini more expensive than the regular iPad? The portability of that size and the power of the chip. There are always trade-offs -- it's up to the individual user on what they get the most out of, and where to put their money. The use cases are laid out in the event -- ProCreate, new versions of Final Cut and Logic Pro, etc. And for those not needing all the power of the Pro, there's the Air, that also supports Pencil Pro -- which surprisingly didn't get a price increase despite the major upgrades! All great announcements. I'm glad every product won't get every chip for Mx. iMac was the first to skip M2, and now iPad Pro. A relief we won't have to endure that many product announcements if some products skip a generation of processor updates. Of course Vision Pro and recent MacBook Air buyers are probably not happy with that, but it is what it is.
Last generation, I went with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro phasing out a 9.7-inch iPad Pro before that. I wanted more real estate and the better display (mini-LED)...only to hardly ever use it. It was just too heavy and really awkward to use in portrait mode. Landscape mode was great for watching movies as long as the tablet was propped up and I didn't have to hold it. Still, I ended up using my old 8.4 Samsung Tablet much more during the past couple years. This time, I am going with the 11" iPad Pro finally retiring that old Samsung Tablet and Kindle Oasys both.
I agree with the end point you made. As great as it is to make all these technological advances for the iPad, what’s the point when iPadOS (in it’s current form) cannot come close to making use of all the power these devices have? I’ve got a 2020 iPad Pro, and it is still probably overkill for what I use it for lol
Many people do use the power. Are you saying that because you don't, Apple should downgrade it and deprive those who need the specs that they want? It seems a very peculiar attitude. My car goes 110mph, but I never break 70mph. Should car makers only allow 70mph because that is all I need?
My laptop is a Surface Book. I ordered the 13 inch M4 to replace my galaxy tab S7 plus. It will be used for taking notes in the office and as a second monitor when I am at a clients office. I’ll also use it for media consumption, so the upgraded display is worth it to me.I’m thinking I might also use it as an RDP client to log into my server remotely if I can get it to hook up with my other monitors. In that way, it can be a laptop replacement without needing to have full computer operating software.
I love my s7 plus. I have both an IPad pro M1 and the S7+..... I prefer media consumption on the Samsung. Apps and programs for work are all done on my iPad. If I had to choose, I'd keep the Samsung because the screen and sound are better
THANK YOU. I have a 10.5 original iPad Pro running an A10X. I barely run into limitations with it (save my awful battery life) I’ve been combing through videos and contemplating what value I would get by upgrading and I just don’t see it yet. I’m suspecting they have something planned for WWDC. I’ll wait till after that at least.
I’m upgrading from my old 2018 iPad Pro to the 13 in IPad Pro with the 256 of memory. I don’t need all the power but it might be nice as AI becomes ingrained into IOS. It’s not really about need at this point I’m 70 and am in the 4th quarter of life! I have the iPhone 15 pro max the cellular Apple Watch this years model. Also Apple pro ear pods
It depend , personally me as a student who just need to jot down notes , create presentation and small videos editing , i think Air is now the sweet spot for most people , it does 95% of what the Pro does and i only game sometime which mostly only play Genshin and Honkai so i dont need computer for that
I'm going to get the 13" pro model. I do a lot of video editing for the school I work for and my M3 MacBook Pro is starting to get a little to heavy for me to keep carrying it around everywhere. I think the portability will help when I need to move from classroom to classroom and continue editing.
I pre-ordered it. I didn't get the first iPad but did end up with maybe the 3rd gen & upgraded to the. 2nd iPad Air but end up giving that to my brother thinking that I would get another one but kept waiting. Finally decided that this was the one!
I traded in my m1 iPad Pro for a m2 iPad Pro it was a good deal. I already had a Magic Keyboard and pencil so that was a big factor for me not having to purchase those again. I use my iPad daily more than my MacBook and gaming desktop. Will ridding my m2 iPad into the sunset
I bought the cheapest 12.9" M4 iPad Pro. I would have upgraded the memory to 256 GB, but happily that's on the entry level now. I could have gotten by with the 12.9" Air (and I'm happy Apple chose to offer it in this size), but I decided to splurge. And I bought the pencil pro, a case, Apple Care, and am considering getting the keyboard.
As I watched a few New iPad reviews, I've noticed a lot of complaints/comments around price. The same folks complaining likely think that the CyberTruck @ $100k is a real value. Consider: the M4 iPad Pro will last longer between charges, FREE over the air updates, never end up in the shop or subject to recall, world-class fit and finish...and regardless how thin....will NEVER chop off your fingers!
I’m holding off for now because I still want to see what WWDC brings but I am leaning towards the new 13 inch pro. I am looking at making it my only computer. My daughter has my old iPad Pro with cellular and she uses it basically like a giant phone. Doesn’t leave home without it.
if you’re not an artist, an engineer on field, creator, or scientist but just wants to show to your friends and strangers in starbucks, then this is the right ipad pro for you.
I agree about your WHY for the new iPad Pro. I have the 10.5-inch iPad Pro (last PRO model with Touch ID Home Button). Still supported with latest iPad OS. Works so great, even battery is going strong. Excellent Pro Motion display and 4-speaker sound plus 12MP camera. So if my ancient iPad Pro model from 2017 with A10X can smoothly run everything I typically use with iPadOS in 2024, why do I need the expensive new one with M4? My next iPad will probably be iPad Air, maybe iPad mini.
Preordered simply for the camera placement. That alone makes it worth it for me. Bummed about having to replace the pencil and keyboard, but alas, it shall be done.
5:21 you hit the nail on the head .. Apple should have reserved the M series chips just for the iPad Pro and kept the A series chips in the iPad Air and iPad .. then they could activate macOS when you click into the Magic Keyboard .. pricewise they would actually be making more than the MacBook Air and it would slot nicely in price between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro
As a MacBook Pro owner, I’ve never been able to see the value in an iPad. While the latest version is insanely powerful, it still seems more like a gimmicky device to me.
I want all the little niceties that comes with the Pro more than the processing power it provides. I don't need an M4, but I want the OLED screen, the better speakers, the nicer keyboard with fn row. Upgrading from my 2018 11" Pro. Pure unnecessary luxury purchase!
I have the iPad Pro 2nd gen 2020 and I feel like it’s amazing. It’s fast enough for me and I really think anything faster is pointless, I’m sure the OLED screen is probably worth it in 4th gen but not enough for me to go out and spend that money.
EveryDay Dad..one word to justify it all OLED!!! ‘Nuff said. My use is case voice acting. I use Logic Pro to track and mix my work. I’m going to also justify it on the basis of note taking. The RE-Markable and Amazon Scribe experiments are over. I ordered the 1TB 13” version with the nano screen and Apple Pencil Pro. They are giving me almost $700 in trade-in for my 2022 iPad Pro so it doesn’t sting so bad. I’m also hoping that some cool stuff will be revealed at the June event which will make the new iPadOS worth it.
I absolutely meant iPod nano, I can’t believe I said it and then didn’t catch it when editing. 😅
I can't afford an iPad Pro 13; I don't have any iPad, but I do want one because I aim to pursue graphic design eventually.
@@Digital.Done.Right. says the iPad Pro is a waste, then proceeds to order a new Air, which according to your logic is also a waste of money.

@@hammerandthewrench7924 I’ll get right on that just for you
Agreed the iOS needs to incorporate Mac OS system when docked . The M4 is powerful enough to do both os
Maybe a compromise would be bringing in some of the MacOS features that could work in iPad OS to bridge the gap between both OS variant.
The m1 is powerful enough also
I've own the 2018 11inch iPad Pro since it was released, kept pushing off upgrading because it worked fine for what I use it for (content consumption/amateur drawing) but after getting a 14 pro a couple years ago and being able to use an OLED screen for the first time as well as having a 16 inch MacBook Pro with an XDR display, getting myself the new 11inch 256gb iPad Pro was a no brainer for me
Same for me.
how is it working out for you
I've ditched all forms of laptops in favor of tablets and this ipad generation will be my next huge bump up from my ipad 9th Gen.
Looking to do this. Have you ever looked back?
This is me! Not everyone needs or wants a laptop. I've found I use it a lot more than I ever did any of my laptops too.
Not physically possible for me. I’m a graphic designer and no way I’d even try to do all my work on an iPad.
Great for more casual use once working full time
do you have a desktop PC?
I’m gonna get me an iPad Pro 11”. I personally feel uncomfortable bringing my MacBook Pro to edit photos on the spot, when I can just bring an iPad for that sole purpose of editing on the go, but be more comfortable to where it’s not like having a feeling of bringing a heavier device just for editing. Having a iPad will also make my Apple ecosystem more accessible, but that’s a small reason for it.
If you edit photos why would you ditch the card reader and OS that you get with MacBook?
I currently have the 11 inch M1 iPad Pro. Don't think I will be upgrading this time around.
Yeah same. I have the 11 inch M1 iPad Pro too with 512GB of storage and I love it. I won’t be upgrading mine anytime soon.
Would you say that the 11 inch is too small for something like note taking?
@@bendalessandro2890 I don't have any issue with taking notes on it. It really depends on your personal preference and what you would be comfortable with.
Preordered the 13” iPad Pro with keyboard. I just love the look, thinness, the new screen looks great. Yep, excited.
You will like your new iPad mine I play with it 40hours by week
I have the 9.7" iPad Pro and looking at an upgrade with this iPad Pro. Looking forward to the unboxing.

Completely agree. I’m keeping my 13” M1 iPad Pro and keyboard I bought a few years ago from some really cool UA-cam veteran!
That is the sensible take I have yet to see much of today!
Had the 1st ever iPad Pro. Bought this to upgrade it. The old iPad Pro was running just fine, but the storage was running out and not able to get further updates.
I feel you.
My 2018 iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2 still work great for literally everything I use it for. Can’t see a need to upgrade yet, even after 6 years.

No one is talking about how good this is for gaming. Warzone, resident evil, assassins creed, and there’s a ton of games that will get ported
I primarily use my larger iPad for zoom. For everyday use, I LOVE my mini.
I preordered the baseline 11" iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil Pro and it will be replacing my current 11" M1 iPad Pro.
oled is def the one thing you will notice
@@BlizzardWind99 Thats the main reason I pulled the trigger. If the OLED didnt come to the 11" I would've kept my current iPad.
I bought the cheapest one too. Didn't want to spend a lot and still getting the OLED. I like the Apple iPad-mini.
We all love UA-cam
Edit:
Also I think all the power is for the future when they come out with larger updates etc.
It's all about that OLED screen. That's why I ordered it. Replacing my M2 MacBook Air and iPad mini 6 with an iPad Pro 11"
I had the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. For the first time in 5+ years i bought a new one. I think OLED made the difference for me.
You have to get the 1tb for the extra power.
@@andyH_England no, I wasn't trying to say they should downgrade the iPad. What I am saying is that iPad OS is holding the iPad back imo
I barely run into limitations with it (save my awful battery life)
I’ve been combing through videos and contemplating what value I would get by upgrading and I just don’t see it yet.
Is the MacBook Pro you are talking about the 14" or the 16"?
Nano texture glass is actually a horrible experience imagine an opaque film over that gorgeous display
I went wit 11 inch ipad pro 1tb and pencil pro, i have a macbook pro 16 so no need to type too much in the ipad.
There is no 12.9” M4 iPad Pro
There's only 13” or 11”iPad Pro. M4👍🏼
@@lsterl Oh yes, I forgot. ^^ I bought the cheapest 13" M4 iPad Pro.
For gaming and video editing m4 is needed
no, video editing and gaming dont need much performance really, they never did.
@@JohnSmith-pn2vl they do my friend, try warzone mobile or newstate mobile or farlight 84
@@JohnSmith-pn2vl i own m1 and it's bad for these games ;) i use it for streaming on my other channel
excited to see your video on it, dad!
I preordered because I’ve wanted OLED for a while. It’s the only feature I’ve missed from my existing iPad Pro.
This is the model I am planning to buy, but it is by no means the cheapest. The 11" ones are much cheaper and I think(?) with further compromises.
I really believe that the utility of the M4 iPad will be born out when Apple announces their more AI enabled iPad OS at WWDC.
I bought the pro with 512, I travel with an Ipad. I like the screen, speakers and face ID. Its probably a luxury item, so shoot me.
Preordered simply for the camera placement. That alone makes it worth it for me. Bummed about having to replace the pencil and keyboard, but alas, it shall be done.
Thanks to Samsung for the beautiful ipad displays.
They are from LG, because Samsung had some production issues. :)
Samsung only makes the 11 inch displays
13 inches is made by LG
5:21 you hit the nail on the head .. Apple should have reserved the M series chips just for the iPad Pro and kept the A series chips in the iPad Air and iPad .. then they could activate macOS when you click into the Magic Keyboard .. pricewise they would actually be making more than the MacBook Air and it would slot nicely in price between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro
As a MacBook Pro owner, I’ve never been able to see the value in an iPad. While the latest version is insanely powerful, it still seems more like a gimmicky device to me.
I want to feel it in the hand and see it in person before buying for sure.
I want all the little niceties that comes with the Pro more than the processing power it provides. I don't need an M4, but I want the OLED screen, the better speakers, the nicer keyboard with fn row. Upgrading from my 2018 11" Pro. Pure unnecessary luxury purchase!
If you’re a person who never learned computer skills iPads are simple to navigate and make them less intimidating especially with touch and pen input.
