    Campden tablet probably not necessary since the frozen peaches probably don't have any viable wild yeasts alive on them, if there were, the stronger wine yeasts would have overpowered any bit of wild yeasts, and the purpose of the tablet is to kill yeasts so if you are going to use it you should wait 24 hours before adding the yeast, probably a good thing you added the entire packet or it might have just killed the yeast and got no fermentation. One packet of yeast is enough for 5 gallons of must.

    Where is the finishing peach video?

    • @SustainableDan
      @SustainableDan  3 місяці тому +1

      If you watch my strawberry wine video, the steps are virtually the same and there is even a full timeline to follow. Unfortunately, many of my older videos only include the recipe and steps to begin fermentation. I am working to ensure that all future videos are more comprehensive or at least have follow up videos.

    Your videos are great--thanks!--and I'm watching many as I prepare to make cider for the first time with that same kit. Question, if I may: After you've put the ingredients into the fermenter, do you simply pour it into sanitized bottles?

    • @SustainableDan
      @SustainableDan  Рік тому +1

      One it is finished fermenting, yes. I have been leaning more towards the flip top bottles because they are so easy to use and reuse. If you use Star-San, you sanitize the bottles and then immediately bottle your wine or cider.

      Just make sure it’s completely done fermenting.

      Yeah I have Asperger's syndrome and it actually stresses me when I have to deal with spoken instructions and music at the same time.

    How come on your blackberry video you used hot water but on the cherry you used room temp water? Cause on the home brew Ohio kit it doesn’t say hot or cold?

    • @SustainableDan
      @SustainableDan  Рік тому +1

      While not necessary, hot water can help sanitize fruit while aiding in the extraction of juice. It’s never required, but it can be helpful.

    Cant you just get the juice from the peaches. Add some water....add suger and yeast..then wait a month and rack? Do you really need the other stuff?

    • @SustainableDan
      @SustainableDan  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes you can. You can keep it as simple as you want. It may change the flavor, texture and how it ferments, but it can still turn out great.
