Your cabinet and drawer builds look awesome! You did all of that with only a drill, jigsaw and circular saw and the final results looks great! Cabinet makers have all of the fancy jigs, tablesaws, router tables, etc but you show how it can still be done with basic tools and lots of patience. Well done!
The storage bed base is really good in theory, but most people who made a flat bed like that struggled with damp under their mattress due to having no ventilation.
I couldn't have done all of that with the drawers etc., I would have bought a used kitchen and adapted it, less work and they can be adapted to fit, we bought a used kitchen for a granny extension to our house and of course it didn't fit but was very easy to cut and splice to fit, I truly admire your dedication and hard work, well done
Snugglie...lol love it. Thanks girl!! I am literally moving out of my apartment to start saving for my VAN!! Loading up on great information thank you so much maybe I’ll see you one day. 🙏🏼❤️
Sounds like you suffered but the final product looks real good. I'm almost done building out my Astro, and it's been by far the biggest project I've ever tried to take on alone. It was not very fun. Part of me hopes that I get to do it again someday because the second time will literally go 4x faster.
one way to mitigate the anxiety about trying to cut expensive and thick material accurately with a jigsaw would have been to get close to your lines with the jigsaw, then come back with a router and a flush trim bit with the bearing riding along the template. That way you don't have to worry too much about being super accurate with the jigsaw, as long as you're not going outside your lines.
Hey Kaya! I love your build, especially how the bed turns into a sofa. Can you maybe explain how you did that in the build? Would be really helpful to know :) greetings from Switzerland!
Hey! It's just a few hinges on the seam of the bed. The straps are attached to the back and hooked onto the mounting points on either side of the wall with carabiners. Good luck!
We were really concerned with the weight of the counter top. It's freaking heavy. So we used the 3/4 thick plywood for the supports and the 1/2 for the drawers and faceplates.
I’m wondering, Kaya, if you would kindly tell me if the hinges on your beds concealed compartment are those embedded kind of hinges or flat tee hinges, think you’re blog shows the latter, then the cylindrical hinge part sticks up a little? (rather than sticking out into the joining length of timer). Also, the cross-bolt lock thing on the other end, you have to get underneath to slide it across? (I’d assumed you had ply underneath?) have screen shots & it’s sometimes difficult to tell. Yes I’m copying your bed, I like the design; though I think mine looks smaller at 4ft wide (queen size). You managed to fit a double-size mattress lengthways widthways in your van (does that even make sense). Greetings from Wales & hope you’re having a nice week. K
Looks amazing, great job! Hope mine turns out that nice. Quick question, what is the make and model of your refrigerator, I've been looking for a while and that one looks perfect.
according2plan95 thanks 😅 the fridge is from Truckfridge. The TF130 model! I love it so much. I link to all the things we used in the van here if you have any more questions: www.onechicktravels.com/blog/sprinter-van-conversion-total-cost
Kaya, Don't be surprised if some of those boards you cut from the log split at some point. This will be the result of the lumber drying out. I know what you mean about making drawers. As a woodworker, I hate making drawers.
I make cabinets for a living...thanks for the salute but we order our drawers from a drawer manufacturer...at least our dovetail ones. Just not worth our time when there are companies set up to make thousands per day. We'll make standard ones for a quick job, but we also have better tools than you, so I salute you instead!
No wonder it tears on your relationship. The man works his ass of while the Woman just standing there with a Camera complaining.. and afterwards says ”we” made it..
cant use pre-fab shelves because would lose " precious space" but has lost an inch the entire way around the van so that she can have wood flooring and wood walls and wood ceilings... this shit is just an example of excess in money. i get the idea , but dont act like this is anything other than high end jewelry.
you are the only van builder whose process I can actually follow/understand!! thank you!
You did a really nice job-the wood is finished nicely and the over all look is very pretty!
Really excited to see how you did the walls.
TheRebelEye that's next on my list! Stay tuned for more :)
Brilliant use of old school double hung window clasps for the drawers! Van looks great!

Beautiful love the countertop. Thats what I want to do when ever I get a van.
Very nice work!
Can you do a video of how the bed was made/works as hard to tell how it converts into a sofa.
Beautiful! You guys did an amazing job
good videos ... watching from cape girardeau
You guys rock!!!
Thanks Marcel :) :)
Thank you for the new music though. I love your style. Why don't people ever build bathrooms in these things??
WHERE?

thisgoestoeleven very true. We had a friend route out the edges for us at his cabinet shop... very lucky for us!
Could you please do a video on how that bed converts into a sofa? It kind of looks like it's tied in place, but I can't imagine that's very sturdy.
nice idea

Looks good but why did you go with 3/4 plywood for the cabinets? Seems like 1/2 would be cheaper lighter and plenty strong.

Great vid, you guys are awesome. How did you bolt the 2x4's to the metal frame of the van?
Very carefully. ;)

Is that bed a standard bed size? Or did you get a custom mattress to fit the width of the van?
It's a huge foam mattress that we cut to fit!
Awesome. Thank you
Is the boyfriend still around or did he fall by the wayside
How is it on gas?
Pretty good actually. With all of the stuff in it we get about 25+ mpg on the highway.

What would you cover the insulation with?
Some dumb ass has no clue as to the shape of a Sprinter.
