Kouji Mori got through so much emotional pain that you can see how much he knows about it in his mangas. Once Berserk is finished, we can expect Miura's assistants debut with their own mangas with the same level of artwork.

So you're saying Griffith gets to write his own ending. But in seriousness he seems to be the perfect person to finish it with Miuras intention in mind. I don't know if he can be the philosopher that Miura was, but I trust your endorsement Spirit, having vouched for his ability to comment with depth on the nature of existence and humanity. Great video as always. Your Berserk commentary has no peer.
I've read Holyland and Suicide Island. Always forget to check more of his work unfortunately. What I can say, is that both of what I've read are based on growing up filled with pain and misery, being unable to care for others or yourself due to that pain and fear. However, if you ever wish to leave that misery behind, you need to let yourself be open to others, be mindful of the way you are, work on yourself and care for those around you. As that is the only way to grow up into a happier person. Which is in a way, the journey of Guts as well, minus the apostle killing of course. So while Berserk by Miura died, I still wish to see and read Berserk by Mori.
he doesn't need to be a philosopher to finish the story, when now we know the story of Guts and Griffith is largely based off Miura and Mori's complex friendship. Mori is literally the opposing half of the story that has been told up to this point. and it's the unique dynamic in their relationship from both of their perspectives which made the story what it is. in a way I am reminded of the ending of Lord of the Rings, when Frodo passes on the red book to Sam to finish the last few chapters, as it was just as much his story to be told as it was Frodo's.
Damn you took the words outta my fingers bruh, the philosopher that miura was will never ever return, and it could be transparant in the upcoming chapters of the manga, but we could expect a more gutsy guts than ever. The one which miura was lookin upto. Although the philosophy is one of the best in berserk.. So thats lost forever.

But after Mori’s letter and watching this video, I realize this tragedy really adds to the beauty and majesty that is Berserk. Continuing life through loss and struggle. Friendships endure. I’m overjoyed Miura’s best friend Mori is going to finish the manga for him. Even in death, Miura is still giving back to his dear friend to keep writing and drawing manga. Everyone should have a friend like Miura or Mori.
It makes sense why berserk is so good it's because even though it has a lot of fantasy elements it draws a lot on reality like with people's relationships and I think all great art reflects reality in some way.

Well he’s did a great job on the 2 new chapters that were just released, I was literally shaking the entire time reading them, amazing return for Berserk.
Its almost scary how poetic it is that not only there are so many parallels in their lives and the manga. But mori, miura's best friend for life, now picks up where miura left off. They are truly "one" as miura said. Miura had said how he wanted mori to draw a story about their lives one day... after miura's death it was almost like a last wish for the both of them. And now just as berserk ended on this poetic chapter where griffith & guts are together one last time. Mori continues the story for his friend.
I mean really, this is the best of both worlds. If you're a Miura purist, you can say Berserk ended on that "final" chapter, with the "ending" being the "Griffith sheds a single tear" panel. If you're a Berserk fan in general, you'll still get to enjoy seeing the true end of the story, even if Miura isn't around to do it himself - he's left enough info and trained an entire art team to give us the next best thing to "Miura lived long enough to complete Berserk himself". Either way, everyone gets a satisfying conclusion.
So poetic, like how Miura said sometimes he's Guts and sometimes he's Griffith. Really shows how he was aware of his surroundings, himself and his bond with Mori
The fact that Mori is the only one who knows how Berserk ends and was told the entire storyline of it by Muriru again shows how much the two meant to each other.
It'll never be a Miura ending, but listening to this story, I don't think he ever intended for anyone else but Mori to end it. Who better than the man who inspired Griffith, to decide his fate at the hands of Guts? What divine poetry.
I don't think Miura had an ending in mind. He kinda struck me as not knowing quite what to do but setting stuff up for a general goal of having Guts become the new leader of the band of the black swordsman and taking down his best friend.

I'm not crying, you're crying! This really does speak volumes of the relationship between the authors, Guts and Griffith. What a beautiful collaboration of friendship. I will be reading on for Miura and Mori.
So they were 2 sides of the same coin... Sometimes I notice moments in my life where I'm more like Guts, or more like Griffith.... I thought their was something wrong with me, but I was just pushing past my suffering. I'll keep pushing towards my goals of strength. Struggle on, Brothers and Sisters. Always Fight the Pain, never surrender your Life.
Mori seems like a wonderful human. He also wrote another of my favorite manga, HOLYLAND. Everyone should read that to get an idea for how well done of a story this man can bring together.
I never thought i would cry for a stranger death outside of a sad movie, but Miura got me hard, Berserk is a jewel of humanity and must be protected at all costs.
Great video man! Seeing a closer look into both of these mangakas lives is so interesting. I’m really excited to see how Mori treats the rest of Berserk now
The more I heard about their friendship, the more faith I in Berserk continuing. The letter about it was really heartwarming and amazing how much respect there was for Miura. I love Holyland and Suicide Island, I have no doubt that Berserk is in the best hands possible.
Gotta admit, this is a heartfelt video! I'm glad that Koji Mori can collaborate with his childhood friend Kentaro Miura from beyond the grave. And thank *YOU* for laying bare the influence of their friendship on their respective mangas. It's quite inspirational! 👏
Thank you for making this video. Your telling of Mori and Miura's relationship brought me to tears. You have a wonderful talent for telling human stories.
I have no doubt Mori-san is gonna ensure and follow his friends vision through Was super apprehensive at first, when I first learned of Miura-sans death (R.I.P.) but when the next 4 to 8 chapters started coming out, after 364, I was pleasantly surprised with how it feels like Miura-san is still there...after watching this video and learning of Mori-san and their friendship--I'm 100% confident Miura-sans masterpiece story will be finished exactly how he envisioned it
Yeah! Of course, it won't be what Miura envisioned 100%, but it is going to be pretty close! I am grateful that Mori took the helm to finish his dear friend's life's work.
Damn. That feels like it would be really emotionally challenging to do. Finishing the story your best friend wrote about your rivalry. But he's the only person for the job.
When it was first announced Mori would be in charge of finishing Berserk I didn't think much about it; I thought, it makes sense, they were close friends after all. With a bit more context now, having Mori's story as well in my mind; I'm glad he's the one doing it and I can't wait to read what's to come.
I already wrote it somewhere but it is another testament of full life Miura have lived - not only he touched many people with his stories, inspired many other artists, inspired people who found some echoes of their own lifes in story of Berserk and Guts struggle, but also he left a friend, a person who's life he affected same as he affected his, and in the end person that will be able to deliver his full work and completing it. Truly a mark of a remarkable life and career.
I mean, the only real positive use of jealously is to let it motivate you to improve yourself, but it's still more noble to be happy for a friend's greater success.
What an ending you put in here. I couldn't help but cry. Yuu's feelings when he was about to jump hit me so hard since I have similar experiences. You want to end it all and then you wake up and realize what you are doing. To think that Mori has been there as well... And now he is doing his old friend a favor to bring Berserk's journey to end. I have no words anymore. I'll support him until the very end.
Damn.....it just occurred to me how much this story relates others besides me. I guess all of us have a friend that is like Guts, Griffith, or both. And sometimes we're both as well. That hits in a such a weird way
"In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of god hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control, even over his own will" I for one see it as no coincidence that true creators of art become the art they create. It is beautiful that Mori will continue Miura's work.
I kinda relate to their relationship. I met a friend in middle school that shares the same passion as me. We used to draw together a lot at school. when I saw him draws better than me i would immediately practice hard to be able to draw better than him. I too would get jealous seeing him doing better than me. But we also encourage each other to move forward everyday.
I think I’m started to understand that manga creators expressed feelings and situations they’ve been through and want you to feel comforted and grow from it
I'm glad that Mori is honoring his friend by helping to complete his Magnusm Opus. I didn't know much about Mori before this video or just how deep their friendship was. The part about his motorcycle accident brought me to tears as it's an experience that I similarly have been through almost to the exact situation
I was skeptical and I am still numb and in shock to this day with Miura's passing, still grieving over his loss. But upon watching this video, all of that just came to an end, as of about 15 seconds ago. As one who is also writing and illustrating their own manga, this was beautiful. That line resonated with me: "If you can't write a story based on your own life, then you can't write a good manga." Thank you for making this
This video is fantastic! I actually did some research at the time of hearing about Kouji Mori honoring Miura's legacy and even reading the manga Mori did for Miura and this video sums it all up perfectly! Keep up the fantastic work man
There's something very poetic about Mori finishing his friends' work. I know we all wish Miura would have finished it ,but in a way, Mori carrying the torch for his childhood friend is a special kind of beautiful.
Not sure what chapter but i think he was embarrassed that he said "Do I need a reason every time i put myself in harm's way for you." I think Mori might've defended Miura from bullies or fights and when asked about it, Mori said that
This revelation makes the story of "Berserk" even more amazing, and to that sad fact of Miura's passing...to have his best friend finish his magnum opus? It's bitter sweet. No matter what happens from this point on with Berserk, I'm just happy we all as fans and artists got to see Miura's work and have it affect our lives. He will be greatly missed.
I feel so much better that it is Mori, carrying on his friends work. Berserk is so close to my heart, unlike any story before it. Amazing story. I will look into moris work as i have never heard of it before.
Thank you so much for your video. After i heard about mori and his relationship with miura i immediately read holyland and loved it. Currently reading suicide island. Tbh this development with berserk being finished by miuras best friend and sometimes rival is itself so poetic that it seems to be like the most appropriate thing to happen
I didn't realize that the two creators were connected on such a personal level. It makes me look forward to the new chapters in a way that I didn't before.
I had no idea they were friends. As a kid I started with Berserk but later enjoyed Holyland greatly. Hearing this makes a lot of sense, especially with the stories Holyland had and the life the author led.
Berserk is everything to me, and if I were to speak honestly, I truly don't think I would have been able to make it out of my darkest moments without it, nor would I have had the courage to survive like I did. It speaks to me, I feel the book, I understand it. God bless you Miura and Mori, I myself have experienced similar events like Mori, and those were the most horrible and painful moments of my life. Things still aren't the best, but I am doing very well now.
Didn't expect to cry, but when you told the story of them sneaking into the abandoned building and professing their dream. Yeah, that hit me. Remember everyone, the only one stopping you is YOU.
Thats really interesting considering issue #364 ends with the arrival of griffith to elfhelm. Its like griffiths arrival coincides with the man who inspired him.
This is so eerie, yet amazing at the same time... This makes me think that Miura may have had the idea of entrusting his story to his best friend for a long time. It was the same way Kaoru Kurimoto entrusted Guin Saga to her family. Both Miura and Kouji Mori showed traits of Guts and Griffith in their anecdotes. It's amazing how close their reality was to the underlying themes of Berserk...
Jealousy can make people either succeed in life or actually fail. To make u succeed you gotta twist your self into thinking you can do better and actually do, But if you do the oposite then that would rather become negative and make you fail
Damn. This hit deep. I mean it’s like their graphic novels say so much about them and what they been through and much more else. It’s beautiful really. I can see full well why Miura and Mori stayed best friends for so long and how they helped each other out so much. This is really something so uplifting and enlightening. Thank you Kentaro Miura and thank you Kouji Mori and thank you Spirit of Fiction. I always get the feels train with Berserk content which is why it is truly glorious :)
If this story is true. Then no other artist is quite as close, or could truly understand Miura like Mori. Whether directly or indirectly, both of them had a hand in making Berserk. I think it is fitting for his best friend to take up the mantle of his work. Miura left his best friend something truly special. I can respect that. I have high hopes.
Band of the Hawk being loosely based on the authors college friend group really shows. That was one of the greatest cast of characters ever! It was incredibly sad when they all died.
I normally don’t post comments but I had to here. Thank you so much for sharing this story! A truly beautiful, touching story of friendship and dedication. One chapter ends and another begins… Stay lovely y’all!
This wouldn't be the first time I've seen an author that has died have their work finished or at least continued by someone this close to them... so close that they are truly worthy of the task. I believe in Kouji Mori and the legacy that he was already a part of from the beginning. As the old saying goes, _if you stare into the abyss, it'll stare back at you._
Beautiful said! Berserk continuing in the current circumstances is deeply important to those working on. It's a bit more than just seeing the end. It's about finding closure.
Fingers crossed that he somehow is able to foresee and perfectly show the world what Miura-sama was trying to achieve with Zerk. Anyone who hasn’t experienced the manga it is easily top 3 ever inked. What an absolute talent he was, and his loss was felt.
Another work of Moris I want to bring to peoples attention is "Destroy and Revolution", which is by far Moris least popular series, but in this series 2 completely opposite teenage boys becomes best friends and take on the world in rebellion, the two MC's are also an extremely strong parallel to Mori and Miura.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this story. I had no idea who Mori was other than that he somehow worked alongside Miura. I felt personally impacted by the story of their friendship. I myself have wanted to make comics, but in recent years I've only been working (manual labor stuff), and creatively I am in a dark place. Mori's story gives me some hope that I can get out of this slump . . .
Extremely poetic that the guy who inspired griffith in some aspect now wants to carry the dream of his friend.

What a beautiful collaboration of friendship. I will be reading on for Miura and Mori.
Isn't that the skadoodle quote from the finals when cloud9 triumphed?
So they were 2 sides of the same coin...
Sometimes I notice moments in my life where I'm more like Guts, or more like Griffith....
I thought their was something wrong with me, but I was just pushing past my suffering.
I'll keep pushing towards my goals of strength.
Struggle on, Brothers and Sisters.
Always Fight the Pain, never surrender your Life.
This some real "Stand by Me" shit. Thanks for putting it together.

"An idiot can only recover once they die."
What a great piece of advice.
Thank you for making this video. Your telling of Mori and Miura's relationship brought me to tears. You have a wonderful talent for telling human stories.
I have no doubt Mori-san is gonna ensure and follow his friends vision through
Was super apprehensive at first, when I first learned of Miura-sans death (R.I.P.) but when the next 4 to 8 chapters started coming out, after 364, I was pleasantly surprised with how it feels like Miura-san is still there...after watching this video and learning of Mori-san and their friendship--I'm 100% confident Miura-sans masterpiece story will be finished exactly how he envisioned it
Miura and Mori’s friendship honestly sounds like something straight out of fiction. It could honestly get a movie or documentary.
the sentence of Grittith about true friend who needs to be equal is more understood and has more meaning.
This was a beautiful retelling of their brotherhood and friendship. Thank you for sharing.
This reminds me of Yuu and Shougo’s relationship too! It’s crazy 🤝
When it was first announced Mori would be in charge of finishing Berserk I didn't think much about it; I thought, it makes sense, they were close friends after all.
With a bit more context now, having Mori's story as well in my mind; I'm glad he's the one doing it and I can't wait to read what's to come.
To have a friend like that is amazing. Makes berserk an even greater story of brotherhood
So, its his brother from a another mother. There is no other person who i trust more to continue the story now. Rip Miura, Good luck Mori.
I cried alittle at the end there. Thank you.
This I feel is Mori giving the biggest thank you to his best friend, almost brother like figure, for what he did and represented in his life.
Damn.....it just occurred to me how much this story relates others besides me. I guess all of us have a friend that is like Guts, Griffith, or both. And sometimes we're both as well.
That hits in a such a weird way
Don't worry you are the main character if your life was a movie
"In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of god hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control, even over his own will"
I for one see it as no coincidence that true creators of art become the art they create.
It is beautiful that Mori will continue Miura's work.
Great insight! Thanks for sharing my rendition of Guts Theme!!
As a Berserk fan, yeah, I can completely agree with you saying that this story changes the way one can see the relationship between Guts and Griffith.
I was really excited to hear that Berserk is continuing but after hearing this I'm over the moon!
That line resonated with me: "If you can't write a story based on your own life, then you can't write a good manga." Thank you for making this
wow I can't believe this is the legacy behind Mori. This... has a lot of hope behind it. We miss you Miura. We are praying for you Mori!
Their friendship is actually really beautiful and I don't what else to describe it as other than just very human
I'm not crying, its just raining, inside, on me and my computer...
Now I understand why Berserk! is so relatable.
Beautiful storytelling. Just listening to the lives of these two Men makes me respect them so much more
This video is fantastic!
12:58 that has to be some of the monologue from chapter 14, bonfire of dreams. Probably the parts about fighting.
He will be greatly missed.
didn't know I needed to hear this, thanks for sharing it.
I feel so much better that it is Mori, carrying on his friends work. Berserk is so close to my heart, unlike any story before it.
Amazing story. I will look into moris work as i have never heard of it before.
Thank you for this. An excellent video.
Such an honourable friendship they shared. I believe Kentaro's legacy couldn't be in safer hands.
Dang both of them are a year younger than my dad. How come my Mexican dad didn't become a manga artist smh
Oof... With Kouji Mori alive after that and his friend dead, that must really hurt...
Didn't expect to cry, but when you told the story of them sneaking into the abandoned building and professing their dream. Yeah, that hit me. Remember everyone, the only one stopping you is YOU.
Bruh that moment when griffith gets to write the ending.
4:52 Chestnut Puck is one of my favorite side characters, man!
Kouji's berserk will be a fun ride
This wouldn't be the first time I've seen an author that has died have their work finished or at least continued by someone this close to them... so close that they are truly worthy of the task. I believe in Kouji Mori and the legacy that he was already a part of from the beginning. As the old saying goes, _if you stare into the abyss, it'll stare back at you._
GUYS THE MOVIES ARE COMMING BACK W NEW SCENES LIKE THE BINFIRE OF DREAMS AND REANIMTED SCENES. THEYRE ALSO PLANNUNG TO DO CONVICTION!!!!
What an absolute talent he was, and his loss was felt.
that was great, sometimes you are Gutz and sometimes you are Griffith
Another work of Moris I want to bring to peoples attention is "Destroy and Revolution", which is by far Moris least popular series, but in this series 2 completely opposite teenage boys becomes best friends and take on the world in rebellion, the two MC's are also an extremely strong parallel to Mori and Miura.
Griffith always fascinated me, what his thoughts were and how he felt about his bond with guts. This video was very insightful. Thank you
Beautiful video, I’m glad Mori can help Miura finish this saga
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this story. I had no idea who Mori was other than that he somehow worked alongside Miura. I felt personally impacted by the story of their friendship. I myself have wanted to make comics, but in recent years I've only been working (manual labor stuff), and creatively I am in a dark place. Mori's story gives me some hope that I can get out of this slump . . .
What a wild friendship. It's poetic that Mori would be tapped for this role.
chapter 365/366 are GREAT ty mori
Mori is keeping his friend's bonfire lit. Casting his own flame into Miura's fire you could say...
I can just imagine the grieving process Mori must be going through while drawing the Berserk series.
