12:48 - That is the appropriate true boss for this zone. This boss was way too hard as a miniboss in Sonic 3 due to limited opportunities to hit him, along with a tightly confined space which is always controlled by him.
In sonic 3 it was way too easy lol
Not to mention the Act 2 boss theme played when fighting it in the original version of Sonic 3 (though that was fixed in Sonic 3 & Knuckles).
Wdym I suck ass at any sonic game I play and that was probably one of the easiest boss in a sonic game

I just realized that in Sonic Mania, you actually go backwards in Hydrocity to go back to the surface of Angel Island where you left the Tornado. Found this out because of the original background of both acts being swapped + the OG miniboss of the 1st act being the boss of act 2. The attention to detail in this game is absolutely breathtaking.

I’m surprised seeing so many people saying they hate Hydrocity Zone. It was by far my favorite level on Sonic 3. The music is awesome too.

because act 2 boss
People only hate Hydrocity because they’re bad at the level, so they end up on the lower pathway which is slow-paced and filled with water. The reason why Hydrocity is brilliant is because it puts such an emphasis on selecting the optimal pathway through the level.
_ Hydrociraptor _ yeah in act 2 you can avoid 90% of the water if you do the right platforming
The music in these games are phenomenal.
Haven't seen anyone mention this but I like how in Hydrocity Act 2, they teach you how to fight the first phase of Eggman by making sonic touch the bombs. That's really neat game design to show a mini tutorial without having a spell it out for the player.
It's something I love to see in games, and it's not the only situation it's used in Sonic Mania. Press Garden Zone Act 1 they do the same thing, and it's really refreshing to see in a series which has never shied away from hint rings, or audible instructions. I really hate that.
As soon as you hear the music start, you now you're in for some good times.
And as soon as you hear Ice Cap Zones music you know your in for some *Hard Times.*
Then you see the gameplay and realize you were wrong.
Seriously, the composers who created the music for a lot of these early games should've also wrote songs for J-pop artists on the side.
And then you recognise the music, all of your past traumas coming back to you as you realise you're going to have to drown in style again for the next 45 minutes of your life.

I hate the drowning theme so much on the boss for Hydrocity act 2. I wish there was an option to disable the drowning theme. It really interrupts the boss theme.
Literally by the beginning of the Zone I had 13 lives and then by the end I only had four because of the bosses especially the second one
The second half of the second boss fight is actually the original act one boss fight from hydro city zone in sonic 3 and knuckles

At 0:04 that's the Hydrocity act 2 background and at 7:15 that's the Hydrocity act 1 background, but they both look different from the Sonic 3 game.

Bro sonic 3 was my 2nd sonic game as a kid and I remembered I always got stuck at this stage lol but I'm glad they made a remake of it!!

why does hydrocity have its backgrounds swapped
Act style is swapped yet the music isn't which is trippy when you notice it.
In 3&K they're headed from Angel Island to the next zone. In Mania they're headed TO Angel Island, Lava Reef to be specific. At least I believe that's why

Act 2's Boss Gave me a fuckton of Game Overs,But i managed to beat it.
If you don't like this zone why not? First it has awesome music especially if it's remixed and it's not too hard even in encore with ray and knuckles (if you have those)
Bro, just let them play the game for fuck sake. They don't have to be a god at the game to be able to have fun, don't bash on the player for trying to have a good time! Keep playing big man, and I'm sure you'll be able to beat the game with a lot more ease!

Great stage but they could have done a better job with the act 2 boss too easy. They could have tweaked the movement and why does the side wall blow out and not fly through the roof to land on the plane...

Hydrocity zone is my favourite stage in sonic 3 and I don't care if it's a water level because this stage is easy
HydroCity is among the few water levels in video games that don’t feel like a bore. Whoever designed the original & Mania’s version know how to make a water level good.

Something that never made sense in hydrocity zone mania vers. Was why they used the act 2 background for act one and the act 1 background for act 2 background? Hope that made sense..

Hydrocity is harder said than done, it looks hard but when you played it yourself its actually easy

This game had no hint for boss fight, yea ik its a classic Sonic. But atleast give a little hint
In act 2, you are literally forced to damage the boss with a bomb. If that isn’t a hint, I don’t know what is.

It's because they are going backwards, they try to go back to Angel Island zone to get Tornado. Explains why they have the Tornado again in Mirage Saloon Zone Act 1.
