Enjoyed your wine tasting and good to see a South African Pinot Noir coming out on top. You should try and taste the Pinot Noir from Bouchard Finlayson and Newton Johnson which are next door to Hamilton Russell. That area has some great Chardonnay as well.
I've finally worked up the nerve to try some actual Burgundy here lately - not terribly expensive ones though - and I'm impressed with the complexity. I also like the lightness compared to most Rhone wines. Can't wait to try some of your recommendations!

Willamette is pronounced “will am et” not Willa met and Chehalem is pronounced Shaw hay Lem, not Shay Halem. Love what you do. Thank you!

For my part, I generally prefer PN from Burgundy and Oregon - and really pretty much just Oregon. The fruit in California PN is just too “bright” for my palette. I don’t know if the region is too hot or what, but I rarely get the earthy notes that I’m looking for. I’ve also tasted in New Zealand, and although they’re very proud of their PN for me they lack the round mouthfeel that separates good PN from the pedestrian. For many NZ producers, I’d be hard pressed to even identify the varietal. It’s just that different down there. Burgundy is obviously the quintessential region for good PN, but they’ve priced me out. It’s very difficult to get a QPR that works in the affordable range. For that reason, Oregon PN is my jam. You have to be selective, particularly in that midrange price point. You can and do get bad PN from Oregon. But, there are a number of producers in the Dundee and Yamhill Carlton AVAs that are making wonderful affordable PN. Especially for me in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Oh… others have commented on the pronunciation of Willamette so I won’t. But I will say that Chehelem is sha-HAY-lem not SHAY-huh-lem.

California for me can be drastically different, Mendocino, Russian River, Carneros, to my personal favorite - Santa Barbara County. NZD there are some excellent ones to be had but the best stuff generally stays in the Oceanic and Asian region.
Coincidentally, I am drinking a Martinborough Te Tera, 2019, PN, this evening - started yesterday. Very good. My favourite is, of course, Burgundy but it's definitely not the best value. I buy it en primeur and am currently drinking the '12 and '13 Villages.
The French did such a perfect job that even cheap, or should I say average price (cheap pinot noir doesn't exist) average price of 11 to 15 dollars absolute minimum... Still tastes good enough. While Red Wine from all countries except France, the cheaper ones, you can taste a HUGE difference! I always buy regular price or slightly expensive red wine because the cheap ones are blackish blue and disgusting. Trust me, you want your wine to be smooth and only a little bitter. Not way too much bitter.
Burgundian Pinot can be a real crapshoot; producer variation and bottle variation from the same producer. FWIW, Pinot I've made at home showed the same kind of bottle variation, so it may be the grape itself.
Sorry man. I'm disappointed with the video. When you mentioned "Expensive" I was expecting a range of 70 to 100+. The most expensive go from 140 to 200+ specifically for rich and wealthy people. My personal expensive one was from Italy sold in Harris Teeter. Original price is 90 dollars but I got it on sale for 75 dollars. From my opinion, it didn't taste any better than red wines that costed from 22 to 30+ wines but it did felt really nice drinking from rich man's bottle.

French Alsace produces some of the most affordable high quality Pinot Noir. Love the burgundy premier cru too as well but need to age a little.
I do like Alsatian Pinot Noir too!
