I'd probably have to call Pinot noir my favourite wine, I'm a big fan of it's delicate and very reflective acidity, as well as pinots with beautiful earthy characters! Healthy vineyards produce healthy land so I'm all for organic and high quality viticulture. Love the channel, when is the patreon coming?
Pinot noir is like the Beyoncé of wines - delicate, reflective, and always stealing the show! We haven't really considered Patreon TBH - do you think we should do it?
Agree NZ has the best Pinot, ie. Felton Road, Ata Rangi etc. But we also have amazing examples ie Bindi, Bannockburn etc.
NZ Pinot flies under the radar huh?!
I used to be a Pinot fan, but then found that it doesn't match up that well with different foods. I've fallen out of love with the big wines like Cabernet and Shiraz. Now I just drink Grenache. The poor man's pinot. It wasn't very fashionable in the late 20th Century, but things have changed dramatically in the last 15 years or so. If you want a medium bodied wine with a bit of spice then look to quality grenache. Way cheaper than pinot, too!
Have you tried Pinot Noir from the Ahr Valley in Germany? In my personal taste they go really well with food😊
Grenache, the poor man's pinot? More like the rich man's hidden gem!
Sadly yes (for my wallet), I do love Pinot noir and Burgundy. Luckily enough, I might enjoy German Riesling equally, or perhaps even more, at least when taking QPR into consideration. Coincidentally, I opened a smashing German Spätburgunder today, Knipser "Kalkmergel" 2018. Delicious. And I only paid 21.50€ for it.
HOW GOOD IS SPATBURGUNDER!!!!
I love me my german Spätburgunder😊.
I've grown up on Ahr Spätburgunder and I love them. While the high end is great. The range between 15-30€ is so much value for money. And even in the range of 8-15€ you can get really nice drinking wines. Well these prices are what I pay in german supermarkets, at the vineyards and in drink stores. I dont know how much import/export adds to these prices.
The Ahr also has some really nice Blanc de Noir made from Pinot Noir (i know and love the ones from Meyer-Näkel,Mayschoss and Dagernova)
Oh boy - WE love Spätburgunder! We're even looking to import some to Australia, because there isn't enough here!
@@wineforthepeople That's cool! All the best for that. I imagine finding good wineries that have enough capacity to export their stuff and good prices is not the easiest when it comes to german Spätburgunder since we do tend to keep a lot of it for ourselves
Would love me some Spätburgunder in the Blind tastings 😉
@@Sayu277 watch this space haha!
@@wineforthepeople oh, I am watching 😉very closely🫡
@@Sayu277 Haha now we HAVE to deliver!
Burgundy has likely the worst qpr wines in the world. The amount of meh wines I’ve had at over $150USD is criminal, however, when you get that magic bottle it’s like nothing else in the world. The allure in not knowing what you’re gonna get is what still has me spending the rare bucks on a hopeful banger.
Burgundy wines are like a risky investment, but when you strike gold, it's like finding a hidden treasure in a sea of "meh."
I don't know if yall can get it but if you're ever in Oregon taste some Johan Vineyards Pinot (and also Chard). Their stuff is some of the best biodynamic wine in the USA in my opinion! God speed boys!
Brendan is actually in Oregon right now - we'll see if he can seek it out!
@@wineforthepeople hell yea! If hes in Portland he should drop by Negociant. I buy for the place and theres some killer stuff on the shelf!
Don't forget Canadian Pinot, Interior B.C has some of the best Pinot I've ever tasted.
NO. WAY. Seriously? Give us some producers!
