First heard this song back in 1987 bought a cassette tape if Sea Shanties from a place called Flagstaff Hill a Maritime Museum and recreated 1800s Fishing Village in Warnambool Victoria Australia! Loved it ever since especially love the line "Where The Girls Are All Pretty And The Beer Is All Free And There's Bottles Of Rum Hanging From Every Tree"!🤗😂🎻💚⛵🐟🐠👩🍺🍻🍾🥃🌳
Love this song. Reminds me of my Dad,Brothers & uncles that have gone on to be with Father God. I come from a Irish family of farmers & fishermen. Galgorm,Ballymena,County of Antrim, Northern Ireland. At one time my many Great Grandfather owned Galgorm Castle. John Raphel (Raffield)." Fiddlers Green" the perfect song for a ole fishermen that his roots came from Ireland. To go to a place like that. Yea Heaven sounds good to me !
I agree, as long as the songs go on, the Dubliners will be alive (though I'm merely 33 I've managed to see them live 10 times, and it has been a fantastic experience... rest in peace Barney...)
A wonderful musician and a real gentleman. I remember O Donahue's back in the 70's, you are greatly missed and your humour and kindness will be with all those who passed your way,
This song is playing in my head for weeks now. I guess I have to go to Fiddler's Green.
My dad was armored cav in ww2, he is home in fiddlers green with his battle buddies drinking and kicked back relaxing. 30 years career, HUA!
greatest gentleman ever lived in howth
I like Barney's hand gestures. There's a certain innate elegance about him. I don't know much about his life but he must have been a delicate soul.
A true legend, such a massive loss RIP Barney, banjo brilliance

I am from the Caribbean, but irish music makes me want to drink a lot
This is not Irish music. It was written by an Englishman from Grimsby
Me too. Im german
i am belgian but in drinking beer just the irish are better than us love an peace ireland an a never ending river of beer
then let it be a useful path to your own shadows, get conscious and set yourself free! Don't let either the music or the drink be your master!
The Sandman brought me here.
A wonderful musician and a real gentleman. I remember O Donahue's back in the 70's, you are greatly missed and your humour and kindness will be with all those who passed your way,
