    I had this surgery in El Salvador in 2008/2009 and it did not work.
    In 2011, I had it again with doctor Won-taek Choe in New Jersey and it worked flawlessly. A month later I had the same surgery in the other ear and it also worked. Life was back. It's been 10 years and my hearing is just like the day I got out of the operating room.

    Hii everyone, on 6/03/2024 i had a stapedotomy surgery.. from surgery day to now before 1hour I had fullness and could not able to hear properly due to dressing present in operated ear, also dizziness sometimes... Now 3:45 ist on 14/03/2024 after removal of dressing... I hear better... I said wooowww... I feel good..
    I had 53 db of hearing loss in right ear... Now Iam happy 🎉...
    Always go for good surgeon like 25-30 years of experience in that surgery... 😊

    Hi Andrea, had the surgery on my left ear last week and just went back this morning to get the packing taken out. Oh my gosh! I nearly cried there on the spot, after worrying all week whether the operation would be successful or not all my fears were proved unfounded as she removed the packing from my ear. It was as if I had been under water and just broke the surface, in fact everything suddenly just seemed too loud and hyper sensitive.
    I know this will no doubt improve over the coming days as my brain adjusts as throughout the day it has improved somewhat. Only trouble is that now my right ear seems much worse and that was my good ear. I was offered this operation over 20 years ago but turned it down due to fear of risks but knowing what I do now and what a difference it is going to make to my life I wish I had done it then! Anyway thanks for your video blog an I am glad to see you are doing so well 6 months on.

      I'm SO SO SO happy for you!!! I had the exact same feeling when they took the packing out after my first surgery! I literally told my doctor, "Now my "good ear" is my worse ear!" It took a week or so to adjust to it but like you know, with your surgery ear, the hearing will come down so it won't be as drastic in comparison to the other. Ah! I'm just so happy you decided to go through with it and had such a positive result! Thank you for sharing and happy hearing!

      Pretty Redd It was a year last November that I had it done and it has made a big difference to my life! I spent many years deciding whether to have the operation or not but am so glad that I did finally find the courage to do it. If it’s really effecting you’re daily life then I would say be brave and have the operation done! Good luck if you decide to do it!!

    Andrea I am having my surgery for my left ear next week, I find it interesting that the left ear seems more common. Glad you decided to post videos on your experience, it really is encouraging to know you are doing better than before surgery and recommend it. Who doesn't need to hear that when they are about to go through it themselves? Thanks for being brave and putting yourself out there to help others.

It has been 3 months and it has not gone away. I’m about to have my second surgery but very apprehensive about losing taste on the L side now. I did read a blog that said it could take up to a year. Hi Andrea (and friends)!
    Want to thank you for your videos! They really helped to calm my nerves and to let me know what I would really be looking at in terms of post op experience with the surgery.
    I had my right ear done a week ago today and I have mixed emotions on the surgery. I am definitely hearing a lot better maybe too much has the sound seems a bit overwhelming, but still a strange hearing not completely clear almost as if I’m in a tunnel. I am also still quite dizzy which I’m not sure if it is normal after a whole week. Has anyone else had this experience? Thank you!

    I had a stapedotomy on September 2, 2022. Today is September 21, 19 days later, and I still have brain fog or some dizziness when I move too fast or bend over. Did you have these symptoms prolonged, and if so, how long did they last for you? I am hoping that I am just needing more time to heal since it has only been not quite three weeks.

      Hi i hope you are doing great! did you get your hearing back? I had mine on September 22 last week and the packing was removed today butci didn't feel any improvement. I still can't hear anything except whooshing sounds when the doc scratches the packing in my ear is this normal?

    • @nathancooper1013
      @nathancooper1013 2 роки тому +1

      @@imhoodie3578 it will take time. There is a high success rate. Around 93%. I called the doctor and they said the dissolvable packing they use will move around and that makes my hearing go in and out. Give it time and be patient. Don’t be overly nervous. The hardest part is waiting. I go back for my followup October 4 so I will find out more then. Today makes four weeks and my taste is still off and my head is “fuzzy” when I bend over or walk too fast. Take it nice and easy and don’t skip your ear drops if they prescribed them for you. Twice a day it’s very important!

    How do you originally find out if you qualify as a candidate for this surgery? I'm extremely hard of hearing, but how do they determine if your hearing loss is caused by something this surgery would fix?

    • @khgotch
      @khgotch 4 роки тому

      J Law, I had to get a hearing test and a CT scan to be diagnosed with otosclerosis. If you haven't yet had a hearing test do it! They suspected I had it because I was hard of hearing for higher pitches which is typical of otosclerosis. They then confirmed this with a CT scan and were able to see the extra bone growth and diagnose the disease.
