0:00 - Intro
Every guitarist should know these eight chords because they are used forever in your guitar-playing life.
0:21 - E Major
The first chord on the list is the first chord many guitarists learn to play.
0:49 - E Minor
All you do is remove your first finger from the E Major shape, and you have an E minor chord!
1:19 - A Major
A is the starting note of the chord, so you strum from the A string down.
1:59 - D Major
There are many cool ways to play the D Major chord. Once you’re comfortable with the shape, try adding your pinky on the third fret of the high E string and taking your middle finger on and off.
3:30 - C Major
The C Major chord is one you’re going to run into A LOT.
4:05 - C Major7
Take your first finger off of the C chord shape and you’ll get C Major7. It’s a richer and fuller sounding C Major chord.
4:50 - G Major
There are different ways to play this chord shape that only uses three of your fingers, but in this G Major shape that uses all four fingers. It’s good practice to play chords that use all of your fingers.
5:59 - G Major Special
This chord is a great stepping stone for when you begin to play bar chords.

Great tutorials where you're always guaranteed an outstanding choice of guitar and outfit color combo.
Ayla, you are just pretty darn COOL, THANKS !!!!!
thanks for doing videos like this for beginners! i've been struggling with getting used to playing f major and barring in general so i love that g major special it's definitely gonna help me a lot! plus when you threw in that those first chords make up back in black i loved it, i think stuff like that really helps keep motivation up for beginners and makes us feel like we can already play a song with what we're learning. you have a beautiful day too!
Awesome lesson and thank you for sharing your video 💛👍
Beautiful absolutely beautiful

Very nice, simple and effective.
this video used to seem out of my league but now it's going to attainable. been trying to figure out since 2019 and I am finally getting it.
I liked the ones in the back in black set. I am a self taught drummer, trying to become a self taught guitarist, and this video was very helpfull, so thank you, and keep doing what you do!
I just knew the g special. Thank you so much sis for the lesson. I love it:)
I am again not very sure where I would have started without theses videos bigtime shaht aht
Hi, Ayla your videos are clear and easy for me to understand. I'm just a beginner but it's a lot of fun to finally learn how to play and not just "bang" on my guitar; thanks :)
Ayla, your videos have been beyond helpful! I’ve already learned 6 songs with the chords in this lesson and am looking forward to learning more. Keep being awesome!
hey!! Thank you so much buddy❤️
I absolutely love your videos. I haven’t played in 17 years. I just bought a Martin GPC X2E and am going to learn guitar again as I wasn’t that far when I had to stop playing do to my 1st son being born and his mom got daily migraines for last 17 years. It’s time to learn again and go play daily for next 30 years as I’m retired at age 48
I really like the G Major and E Major. But also appreciate the others and try to combine with the minor chords as well. You really make learning guitar and theory fun and easy. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
I'm a beginner and this helped so much. since i started guitar Ayla has been my idol and these lessons really boost knowledge because I enjoy the video.
D with the additional specials is 🔥👍🏼going to add that to next practice
I always feared playing the guitar until I found Ayla's videos. She's such a great teacher. Now I can play all these chords and even play bar chords. You are a godsend🙏
My favourite chord when I get right 💓
Matching sweater and guitar.👍🏻
Picking your favorite chord is like picking your favorite child among your children. I favor them all, and they all have their place. 🎸🎸🎸 Great lesson, thanks, Ayla!! 👍💖🎸😎
I understand all the guitar chords this time👍I am looking forward to the next time😄
This is SO cool to hear!
thanks your are super!!
Thank you
Always learn something from you,,,.Thank you. I pretty much use all the basics of the seven out of eight. But that special cord had me doing yoga to form it. First cords I learned were C,F, D and G7. . It was good to start there because I could play a million songs with it. I thought G7 was the prettiest sound.
I like the look of that guitar, what make is it although I'm not over keen on the colour, thank you for this lesson is a couple of cards there that I didn't know and they are the special and the C7, I am a complete beginner though and I do have sight problems so thank you very much for this very valuable lesson
I think my favorite guitar melody was way back a long time ago when Mickey and Sylvia did Love is Strange. Other musicians tried to get near it ,like Buddy Holly" Words of love ( he said so ).. Also Tide is High by Blondie was a perfect harmony melody to Love is Strange.
It's more interesting. Thanks
I like the D to Dsus to Dsus2. I wish you were around when I was just starting.
The favourite (from this lesson) is the special shape chord, you can move up and down the fret. My first Ayla lesson involved barring, and I always practice it.; so though it's not easy, it's pleasant to me. My bestie chord, also used as reg. practice (I still don't know what it's called!) - Yet! Once discovered, never forgotten and I can vary it with an open string strum.
: )
My favourite is the G Major Special, thank you
Your Teaching Voice and manner remind me of Carl Sagan the scientist in a great good way I think your A very Good teacher and you get my attention that Easy soft draw me in voice and instruction.
I like your vids your so laid back 👍.
A very good starter pack for a beginner guitarist, open chord is the best to learn for the first time
WHAT!!!! that's awesome! I been practicing those 3 chords, so sweet how you just let us know about those ACDC chords! !looks pretty easy!! BTW I asked a question before about first beginner pedals I should buy?? didn't get back answer!!!
superbe merci. A quand un tuto pour apprendre le blues ? PLEASE
Thank u thank u thank u!!..my credit goes out to you..,my guitar just made it’s first nice sound...🤓
Goodmorning, I have lost the lesson you gave of the riffs of Eric Claptons You Look Wonderful Tonight, please could you tell me where I can find it, I have subscribed. Thank you so much for your brilliant lessons, and you way of explaining helps so much, and now when I play, You Look Wonderful Tonight, I can pick up exactly where riff is.
Have a wonderful day.
Regards Conway.
All the way from, Durban,South Africa
Brilliant
Great lesson. At 2:12, for a D major chord do what she shows you, not what the audio says (third fret of the B, not second fret), although, in keeping with the spirit of her approach, try both and see what happens!
Can play midnight adlantis and a few others!! Colin UK
Went out and bought a Fender yesterday,
BTW my daughter’s name is Ayla too!
😍. G, G. I love the G chord.
Ayla as usual you rock and sure play so great and the chords you showed, ohh yes so very important to learn and try and master, there used in so, so many songs. Girl you are so talented and you play superb. God bless and thanks for helping out new guitar players. With suck important chords. Love forever Ayla. Mitchell Magee stafford Virginia.
Cool Ayla
Thank you so much 💖🇳🇵
I was always the biggest fan of E minor. :)
My favorite : C maj with extra note
Rock on Ayla yeahhhhhh baby you rock that's right beneath a harvest moon sky......
Love C7
When it comes to chords for me it's almost always Bar chords. I need to learn more of the Cowboy chords.
Can you help me I know minor 5 patterns but struggling to put it together. But I can play the lead on some of the shadows songs from the UK ??!!!
This is for real beginners. haha Very friendly tutorial. :)

E Major, my favorite chord from this lesson
Good choice!
@@MusoraMedia thank you
Darn, I was going to say that! I will go with Em then, I am forming a personal relationship with that one, I think. Great lesson, thank you!
I'm forming a relationship with Em too
@@markdavidjabez2018 I am hoping to replace G as Em's related major one day, once that relationship has diminished.
Waiting for more beginner lesson ✌
Great lesson and a cool guitar but as a visual learner and being a newbie, it would be helpful if you taught using a guitar with fret markers. Love your work!
There’s literally a diagram alongside the actual video… come on…. she can’t play it for you.🤦♂️
E major
Never heard the open G barre chord in E shape position ever referred to as G maj special lol
C maj 7
C I think it’s the prettiest chord
CM7
I have it all wrong, I can play the bar chord but struggle with the G special... Go figure.. 😖👍🇦🇺
Why do we avoid the A string in the D major chord? Isn't the chord
D F# A?
I believe it’s because a “regular” D major chord will have the root note - the D - as the lowest pitch note in the chord. Playing the A string would mean the A note would be the lowest pitch note in the chord, which would technically yield the second inversion of a D chord. Yes, still a D major chord, but it sounds different from a regular non-inversion D major chord.
@@wifi-YT thanks!
@@mahela1993 You’re welcome!
Good job, but isn’t it incorrect to call each of your two variations on the D major chord at 2:41 - 3:00 a “D major chord,” when both variants lack the major 3rd note? Aren’t they in fact D sus2 and D sus4 chords, which aren’t technically true D major chords?
Love from india ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
G Maj diagram is wrong, you might turn into a pretzel and have to grow a second ring finger. :)
I’ve heard for A chord, people put the second finger on top and the first in the middle? So 2,1,3 vs 1,2,3... which is it 😭.
Typically, people either use fingers 1, 2 & 3, or 2, 3 & 4!
@@MusoraMedia I play A chord with my middle finger as a 3 string barre.
Are you just this chill or is the THC teaching me these chords
I just enjoy meditating!! Haha
She's Canadian👀
how is G major a beginner chord ? i need to dislocate my shoulder and left knee to get even close...
