ABOUT AYLA TESLER-MABE
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first UA-cam video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of both the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

I love her cadence. It's like a friend explaining something they love to you and wants to get you into it too without scaring you away by overwhelming you with info.
Same. She's so relaxed and makes me laugh. You can tell she really loves what she's doing.
Ayla has the most perfect combination of kind and cool mixed in with awkward, yet on-point humor that makes her so relatable and easy to follow. I love her videos and have learned a great deal from her.
Wow you completely Nailed it! All that plus a positive vibe.
So true!
Thanks Ayla.
I have been playing for 57 years.
Grew up outside Detroit, The ROCK and ROLL Capital.
I have lived outside Nashville for the last 32 years.
I have seen JIMI 6 times.
Led Z. 8 times
Jethro Tull, ect, ect.
I have spent my life always with a guitar close by.
Following the greats and supporting them.
I have been very blessed to have had the privilege to witness the greatest years of Rock and Soul.
I know this era is important to you and I want to thank you for keeping it alive in your own way.
I also want to thank the YOU-TUBE Guitar community. There are a lot of hard working young people out there.
Its a Wonderful thing that the Guitar is still KING
Based on who you have seen in the past, I’m curious on your perspective of Band-Maid. Watch Domination live video for an introduction. Many Zep fans, including myself, are loving this highly unlikely band for carrying the hard rock torch.
Her voice is liquid gold to me everytime
And there was this one time, at band camp…. 🤣🤣🤪
@@nidgeontour257 the cadence of her speech reminds me of that 😂 glad to know im not the only one
@@nidgeontour257 Lol.
it's the Upper Left Coast accent.
This woman is just amazing 😱
I wish i had a guitar instructor like you back in 1973 when I was 13 and first picked one up. I wouldn't be re-learning it now as a 61 year old. Your teaching style makes it easy for students to understand and clear on what we should practice. I really appreciate these videos. Thank you for making them and sharing your knowledge.
Jeff Oregon I agree. My Mom wasted hard earned cash in 1973 paying for my guitar lessons. I was 10 then. Now I am 58 and trying to pick it up and learn it. She is an excellent teacher!
@@randyschmittou8708 DITTO...! From the early 70's to 2020 i progressed about 1 inch on the understanding and moving forward level....then...stuck like glue.. everything I played sounded exactly the same.
Today's lesson i already unstuck myself....THANK YOU for helping me out of the mud and get interested again! One question: what or where would one incorporate positions 2,3&5 of the Pentatonic scale ? If there is a particular lesson Ayla covers this please let me know
Im in the same boat Jeff. Better nate than lever i guess! Ayla is awesome!
I’m still very new, 3 weeks in, but one thing I’ve noticed with the basic chords was I practiced transitioning through them in the same order I learned them. It became easier and I thought I had them down. That was until I picked up songs that required different chord progressions.
So I learned them D-A-E… then I get a song that’s A-E-D. So going back and working on chords in different orders is helping me right now.
I love it, I have been playing guitar for a while but I was trying to remember some theory I forgot. She’s a great guitar player but also has a natural talent for teaching. She’s funny too love her sense of humor and the jokes.
You’re such a great teacher. Clear explanation and you seem very passionate about guitars. Keep on going like this! 🤩🎵
Knows some open cords , scales & modes but don’t know how to connect it
First off, I congratulate you on your tutorials. Really well done! As a guitar teacher myself and a professional musician for over 50 years, I really enjoy your presentation, content, and execution. Secondly, I’ve always felt that bringing up the CAGED system and Cycle of Fifths, etc., actually scares people. It can be confusing, even though the information is not really difficult in itself. The way you use CAGED as a practice and basic learning tool makes sense to me and I’m gonna steal it! Thirdly, I think the major pentatonic scale (and the major scale, in general) gets much less attention than it should. After all, the diatonic major scale is the building block of Western Music, and the major pentatonic scale is the skeleton of it. My friend Justin, a Phd in classical composition, says the greatest scale of all is the minor pentatonic because it sounds good with anything! And, its skeleton is really the shape of both minor AND major pentatonics. Keep up the good work; you’ll have many, many followers in short order.
Well, according to this I'm already beyond beginner, but Ayla just explains things so damn good, clearly, with enough detail not to oversimplify it but not so much that it gets boring to a beginner. One of the best channels for people who are starting out.
She's so monotone and I love it.
We talk like that a lot here but it's just nice to hear it on UA-cam
I love how She talks😍
She's a Leaf.
"Which is Great!"
your explanation of the pentatonic scale excouraged me to order a guitar at 62 years young as a youth I could never stick with it never made it pass my first blister We have the same taste in music .all good have you ever head wishbone ash ?
You teach guitar in a way that doesn't oppress beginners..that is what most online teachers have to learn from you. Thanks a lot Ayla!
Ayla is the only teacher I need. I feel like I should be paying her for these lessons!
Very clear lesson every beginner should watch this top teacher thanks.
I have to say that of all the guitar teachers out there, your method and manner are so approachable and make it easy to understand. I think you made a great point about reciting the intervals as you play. The reason for that is once you know the patterns and relationships (i.e., the location of the 4 relative to the root was a big aha moment for me), it truly makes it easier to navigate. Once you know those intervals and you know how the scales and modes are really subtle variations of the major scale, man... all I can say is this:
it's 160 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes; it's dark; and we're wearing sunglasses.
HIT IT!
I think the first thing I ever saw. was the cover of "since I've been Loving You," and I knew right there that you were a great player. I'm so grateful you share your knowledge and talent!
Ayla is an amazing teacher!
I played an ukulele but after watching this, you gave me an idea of not hold on one instrument. You inspired me to play a guitar. Thank you.
This is amazing! I'm so happy to hear it, Ethel 😃
@@MusoraMedia I am even more happier to got a response from you. wow! thank you so much.
@@ethelsdiary yeah just started watching this channel about a week ago, and I’m subscribed. I’m slightly above intermediate with not much of a foundation. I thought myself how to play, and im trying to go back and really understand what’s going on. These videos have helped me understand the instrument much better. I too started on ukulele then transferred to electric guitar. Now I’ve got too many guitars and amps! 😂
@@justaburgscousin Hello I am so happy to hear someone you have the same desire as me. Yes, this channel helped me. I subscribed with no hesitation. thanks
hey! i went from Uke to guitar too! i found the uke (concert size) gave me carpal issues (pain!) from the too-small neck....now I got the guitar in my hands all the time and only touch the uke once inna blue moon.
Ayla I love your videos. My only criticism is that they are so inspiring that I can't finish one. Before the video is over I am running for my guitar to start practicing! You are a godsend. Thank you ❤️
I.love.this ☀️🎸

I know right
thanks for the info...ive been playing for over 36-37 yrs...i learn something new everyday
These videos are a pleasure. I watch them even if I don't have my guitar with me.
I am Guatemalan, but I like the topics and the way you explain.
Best video to keep me motivated towards practice
Wonderful lesson, as usual! 👍🏻
So glad I found your channel!! You’re an amazing player and great teacher!!
Very awesome video Ayla!
the greatest part of you videos is that they are easy to understand and interactive. i'm sure that you've had dozens of people pulling out their guitars out from under the bed and dusting them off to have another go at playing again.
Thank you! This one of the best lessons ever. Keep it up! 😊
Awesome. Thank you!!
Thanks for another great lesson.
Very helpful, as all your videos are! You have a talent for presenting complex ideas.
Ever since she's showed us the pentatonic scales, I've been looking them all up and practicing them. I've discovered if you stay within the notes inside the scales, you can create lots of cool little tunes.
And yes, she's an excellent instructor.
You are awesome! Congrats!
Good stuff! Love the vids! What helped me the most was playing to a metronome. You hear it time and again but within a few days the timing and confidence that comes with it were obvious.
Just what I needed !!
Your teaching is really easy to understand😀 You are a goddess to me as a beginner of the guitar🙏Thank you so much Ayla!
You're so welcome!
Very good teaching. Thanks
You’re an excellent teacher, great lesson !! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us !
Thank you , I’m learning the notes on the neck, your a great teacher
You are a great teacher! Keep up the great work so us old guys can learn to play guitar!!!
Awesome lesson, liked the bloopers cause your probably one of the best spoken instructors on you tube and I love your how you teach, thanks for all you do!
I learned new things today that will really help. Thank you Ayla!
Seriously. You explain effortlessly (even though I suspect that you put in great effort!!). Yours are one of the few lessons that I can focus on from start to end. Thanks so much 🙂
Hello Ayla, excellent as always.
Thank you.😉
As a less than one month beginner I have been working on the A minor pentatonic and I am seeing a number of patterns for mostly natural notes and where one note is in relation to another both up and down the neck as well as up and down the strings....B and C are right next to each other on fretboard....same with E and F, A+3 frets is a C, E+ 3 frets is a G, all other natural notes are just 2 frets away from each other. D is always above G, A is always above D, etc except when the #2(B string) is involved and then it shifts up the neck, G is above(Higher string number) and catty-corner to a C unless B string is involved for the C......and a number of others. So if I know which note I am pressing down on, I have a good frame of reference for a number of notes around that fret location.
Still a work in progress for me.
Ayla, you’re just an awesome teacher and your videos are extremely helpful. So yeah, thanks so much!
Thank you for your great service ❤❤❤.
This is a nice simple list of things you should learn once you get started with playing. Thank you!
You are enjoyable to watch. You make me rethink what I already know. It always surprises me how well you can play.
Another great vid! Thank you Ayla! :)
Thank you!! 😊
Excellent job! Great advice. You are a very good teacher. You have a new subscriber.
What a fantastic lesson thanks for your knowledge and patience with new beginner.
Your voice is so soothing thanks so much
You are so nice, and smiley. Makes learning comfortable.
Thanks for the tips.
This is a fantastic breakdown all being great fundamentals to build on but also a relating together as you advance into say barre chords
You are a fantastic teacher. Clear, concise and infectiously enthusiastic. Thanks!
Thanks, great lesson! Time to plug in!!✌
I just gave like without even watch the whole thing. Just love your personality and smile. Make a better world. Tks
Awesome teacher 👍👍❤
Hi, great video. A few months back I saw you do a pentatonic scale video and as a beginner that indeed opens everything up. So thank you.
Hello you explain things very thoroughly and great thank you
You're a great teacher. Thank you for explaining things in a way that's easy to understand.
You have such a great approach to understanding the guitar. I remember using the old Mel Bay books when I started. They were boring. You are encouraging.
Great. Thanks 👍
I really loved your video and found it very helpful, I tried learning the guitar or at least getting started a couple times by now and always got discouraged by not knowing where to start and in the end I was frustrated.
But thanks to your video I think I have a solid daily practice routine now from where I can evolve better than before appreciate you a lot !
Thanks for the gems, Ayla! I'm a new guitar player. Your lessons are truly a great find. You're very pleasant to listen to and easy to understand while still maintaining a thorough breakdown. Great job!
Very helpful tips .I have experienced these and even improved my playing by these pantatonics scales . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌👌
I really really appreciate it much. Am kind a slow learner. But once I learn it I do not forget it. Again am a slow learn. So thank you for this free lesson
You are the nicest person in the world! Stay that way forever. Thanks for the good teaching.
Thanks!!
👏👏 As always, great job and soothing voice. Added all up, makes for a great instructor.
Great video, thanks. Alternate picking and learning strum patterns was a big upgrade for me. Maybe do a video on those.
I love the way you explain. Your accent, voice tone is wonderful, so clear!
Young lady you are a blessing!
I really appreciate your instructional videos Ayla! You have been a great help to an old man who has been more than interested in taking my playing skills to a more advanced level. You, young lady, are awesome!
Thanks a lot!! I've been learning to play intuitively for years and i was caught up in a plateau until i come accross this awesome presentation..You're a very goood teacher..keep it up..
She is awesome, thank you.
Your a really good teacher young lady and I appreciate you a lot. Thanks!!

You're teaching is kind and very understanding. This video is helpful to me
Ayla, you are so relatable. Thank you for being relatable and able to laugh at yourself. This vid spoke to me, as I am at this early level. Thank you! You Rock!
I can listen you speaking forever. So soothing!! ❣️❣️❣️
I just absolutely LOVE that beautiful guitar! So nice! That awesome gold pick guard against that black body with a maple fretboard. Is WOW!
I've been playing for 28 years and mostly self-taught. It's time to upgrade my skills. I am very glad I found your clear, strong, inclusive instruction. You are an excellent teacher, and a lovely lady. Subscribed. Thank you!
Also check out her bands, Calpurnia and Ludic. So good.
@@MiesAnthrophy Will do, thanks!
You are very skilled at explaining, teaching. I have given lessons, but lack your patience. I love your gold gaurd strat!
Great primer for the CAGED sys. Every beginner should follow this advice and this channel.
My basic practice is play for fun and warm up %50 then practice technique for the rest of the time.
"A lot of people know the alphabet!" ... lol... Another awesome video. A terrific teacher with a welcoming style and approach.
I love how you speak and pronunciate your words! And how you teach so simply, clearly and effectively. Thank you!!! You are a such a joy to listen to.
If someone cant stretch to do it then their not ready to be playing scales. This is a good guitar teacher however, she is very clear and makes it so a beginner can understand and that is crucial. I enjoy watchering her teaching she is always correct. Their are people on youtube giving bad advice . But she is good. I no , i been playing 37 years i wish i had someone teach me back when i started like her. I had no youtube then only books thst was confusing and was hard to understand.
Hey, Jim here. I really enjoy your instruction. I’ve been playing since I was in 7th grade. I am now 65 years old. About 3 years ago I had an accident with a table saw that took my left index finger off just above the first knuckle. I thought my guitar playing days were over but I’ve slowly begun to figure work around snow that it is healed up. If you know of any handicap work around sir lessons I would be interested. Thanks
You are like the Bob Ross of guitars. You are a great help to me. 👍
Thank you teacher
Iam 58 and I had such a desire to play and I look forward to your videos and iam so glad you do what you do love you
