  • Our first overlanding trip in the ‪@ford‬ F150 has been completed! We got our feet wet on the infamous Apache Trail. After spending a couple of days on the windy shores of Apache Lake, we set off to find somewhere more secluded. It wasn't long after leaving the lake that we found ourselves on the dusty banks of the Salt River. We were able to try out for the first time our ‪@LeitnerDesigns‬ bed rack and GoFSR tent. There are lots of little things we want to improve in order to make our setup more user-friendly and trips like these are awesome for working out the kinks.

    The Woodbury fire was in 2019, not 2009. Loved that trail when I moved here and was sad when the rockslide happened. I have heard it's going to be fixed though. The end is from Roosevelt lake is being flattened and smoothed

      Thanks for the correction! I've heard rumors of it being fixed too! Fingers crossed!

    Thanks for the sharing your experience in AZ.
    FYI this is actually considered central AZ.

    That was the area I was lost in trying to get to Bulldog Canyon because of the road being out. Good video! On my way back to Kansas now having been on the road a year and 11 days. Love overlanding!

    Great video Zack. Best one yet. I loved how you changed the camera view a lot and kept things moving. Music and drone shots were great as well. Also enjoyed the commentary on the different types of equipment and gear you use and why. Well done to you both. Cheers.

    Just found your channel. Great job! Not sure where in Maine you call home, but we moved to Phoenix from Topsfield on the north shore when we retired in 2017. The last time I did the Apache Trail it was almost total washboard and ruined the ride. Fires decimated the area and they had to regrade it in sections. Those blackbirds are great-tailed grackles and are very vocal. The ducks were American coots. Yeah, the Arizona sun destroys everything, which is why we're moving to Tennessee next year... so the rain can ruin everything 🙂 Thanks for the Wish You Were Here and safe travels!

      Harpswell is home back in Maine. Thank you so much for the kind words and information. The trail seemed okay when we went down it. They were actively working to repair power lines and such off the roadway so maybe they graded it for that. Other than waking up early to the grackles, this was a great trip. Tennessee is beautiful, you'll love it. The eastern side of the state reminds me a lot of Maine. Safe travels and thanks for watching!!

    Hey! I was at the dam about a month ago and was parked where you were in the beginning of the video and didn't go any further. I'm going back this week and I own a Mustang. Do you think I'd be able to make it in the mustang down that dirt path at all? Kind of a weird question lol but I've been looking into getting a truck so I can go overlanding soon! Thank you!

      Hey man! Thanks for watching. I've seen some small cars at the end of the road. You should be okay, just go slow and steady. The washboard was the worst of it. Can't say you won't bottom out a time or two.

    Is there a name for this campsite you stayed at. Awesome video , place looks amazing.

    • @PineStateOverland
      @PineStateOverland  Рік тому +1

      There's no real name for it. But if you follow the road down to where the resort is, there is a second road to your left. Take that left and it'll bring you straight to the waters edge. First come first serve but we've often found it to be pretty empty.

    Just came across your channel. Great content man. Happen to have coordinates for that spot by the water?

    • @PineStateOverland
      @PineStateOverland  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much! I appreciate that. I don't have those exact coordinates. I typically find sites by looking at google maps in satellite view and following dirt trails down to the river. That's how we found this one.

    what time of the year did you go? Do you have the location where you camped at 15:27

      I was so new to the area at the time I can't remember what this place was called. It was along the Verde River if that helps at all. We went there early summer, I want to say June timeframe.
