The cheat code answer is the gray suit and then buy a Navy Blazer.
Carl Wilson great idea!
that is definitely the cheat code Carl!
Carl Wilson Appreciate that tip!
Carl Wilson That can work, but a proper blazer really is apples to oranges where the in between really is just a sports coat. I prefer a double breasted blazer with distinctive buttons as it should be which is distinctly casual and different from a suit coat. Having an interchangeable wardrobe is great, but I try to be careful about going too far and making some articles redundant.
Was about to comment the same thing lol
I'm saving up daily for a suit since my internship starts next summer. Slowly but surely, I will get that perfect suit.
I like it Bryan, keep saving Bryan..
Strictly my opinion: The quintessential grown man power suit will always be charcoal grey because its versatility as a statement suit is defined solely by the wearer: you can offset almost any color with charcoal, and pocket squares like the Hugo Boss maroon one in my profile pic or even browns add serious pop. I also have a killer heather grey flannel pinstripe, but charcoal is the main grey.
As for Navy, it tends to be more inconsistent as a darker shade of blue depending on the designer and can appear almost black, especially after trips to cheap cleaners. The single biggest reason to buy navy over charcoal grey: when you get a GOOD ONE, the one you treat as an investment, the navy suit can be an absolute king-maker.
Thanks to ya, O.G., you've done it again, Jeff! Salute!
really appreciate the feedback Kanard!
Everybody is wearing navy and I don't want to look like everybody. Charcoal Gray is the most versatile colored suit in my opinion.
I don't know what your day gig is - but you make a convincing closing statement as a barrister/attorney. I was quite sold on the blue is best until this video. Well done.
perhaps a career change is in order...
In my opinion, the gray suit is the "grown man" suit, that "power" suit. Its definitely the most versatile of all and shoewise, can be worn with every color. I love it with that burgundy oxblood! 🔥 Ps..Lovin' that lapel and fit sir! 🙌
Thanks for your input as always Denise!
The choice of suits depends on the one who is wearing it. Navy looks better on me than gray.
that is true Frederick!
They do say if you're a younger man charcoal grey will make you look older and more respectable while navy adds a more youthful appearance to an older man. And also navy looks absolutely killer on men with a darker complexion
Well said, and by the way, that suit you're wearing fits amazing.
much appreciated John!
I love the grey suit and wear it with a classic style vest that matches with it. Salute Jeff!
Hope your summer is being good to you mate.
Salute Kenneth!
I was 100% sold on the navy suit being the only suit until you mentioned the colors of shoes. That did it for me. Grey suit wins.
Also after watching the television series Breaking Bad, I feel in love with the color grey after seeing the character Gus Fring and the way he wore grey.
Appreciate the input Greg. Loved Breaking Bad
Dang OG! That fit of ur suit is tight ! Good shit.... I see u bud.. salute from Panama ! Ed
Thanks Ed!
I think that a single-breasted Charcoal Grey 3-Piece (vested) Suit is the true "only suit" you need. I think that the vest is the key to maximizing the versatility of uses because, in a pinch, you can wear a dark-colored vested suit in a Black-Tie situation, so you won't need a tux (unless you're part of the wedding party). A dark grey like charcoal is respectful enough for funerals or most of the other few situations that call for a black suit but gives you more options for the shirt and accessory colors. Having a vest gives you one more separate to wear casually, and gives you the option to ditch the jacket and still look 'suited', which if you live in a hot area like I do in L.A. is crucial. You can also ditch the vest and wear it as a 2-piece if the situation is too casual for a 3-piece. IMHO a 3-piece where the vest has a back fabric that matches the front or has very little contrast is the ideal because the vest can be worn casually and not be obvious that it's from a suit.
Appreciate the input Jason!
My first suit was that Navy Suit but that grey suit does it for me.
1. The grey suit can be worn for funerals where black may be a theme.
2. If you need some Navy. Go for a Nautical Navy Blazer with your grey suit trouser that will still give you a formal look for today's standards.
3. The grey suit is a killer night out or date look with a dark colored turtleneck and some black chelsea boots aka John Wick.
Charcoal Grey for the win because most people will describe your suit as black when seen.
great input Rex!
Def. the gray suit. It looks sharp and is more versatile. Looks sharp on you Jeff!
Thanks so much for the information and tutorial greetings from
Chile !!!
Another great video like always. Thanks for the shoutout O.G!
You got it Philip!
Great suit on you, Jeff , I love it , great show as always, I never miss it!
I appreciate that Veronica!
Great video O.G I just got fitted for a grey pinstripe suit from INDOCHINO this past Saturday because gray was the color I was missing. Thanks, OG Keep them coming Salute!!
let me know how the Indochino turns out Allen..
Will Do!!
You know O.G doing a post on Indochino would be great, going in and getting fitted at the store and the un-boxing when the suit comes is just the right style for your channel. and the custom suit was only $369
Cant go wrong with either but the game changer is what he said, versatility in the black shoes. Let me also add that a black shirt doesn't look great with a navy suit although there are some people that can pull it off. A black shirt with a gray suit looks great especially if you want to be more formal.
My man Jeff looking like the next James Bond in this video.
Kind words indeed !
That looks like one of Sterling Malory Archer's suits.
now that is a high compliment!
Grey suits are underrated. On first thought they seem too conservative, but mid grey suits are extremely versatile. Grey pants go with almost anything, and you can add a lot of flair in the tie/shirt/square. Charcoal is the bland suit that you think mid grey is.
Love the video O.G! Great information...#Salute
Salute Huey!
I would have to grey for the same reasons you stated in the video. I love versatility.
appreciate the input Jaws2003!
I just bought my first grey suit! So excited!
Nice York!
My favourite OG video. Thank you. M.
Jeff, I have both suits so I guess I’m set. Thanks for this great video.
You got it Don!
Very impressed with the grey suit I am 50 I only have one suit and it's the suit I was married in it's charcoal and you just gave me the courage to go and get it tailored salute
Salute Ernest!
The Style O.G. hey brother with me being a new subscriber I appreciate you going through your feed and acknowledging me that's what real people do thanks man appreciate it salute
My two cents.
If you absolutely will only have ONE suit for whatever reason, you should pick the gray, specially in a darker shade. The combinations of shirts, shoes and accessories are endless. Then IMO you can get a navy blazer that's slightly less formal than the suit and those two things together will keep you covered.
Big up O.G , video is much informative, thumbs up Mr ,down here South Africa.
salute to you in South Africa!
Great video ! Very classy !
Thanks Orlando!
I got the charcoal grey , I think darker colors conveys moor professionalism
I like it. I bought a grey suit myself. Maybe a video for the larger man like myself. Salute!!!
Salute Fabian!
I will watch this video later but I need to know where I can find good looking suits and cheap. I'm not a professional but at least I should own one.
Salute O.G! You just sold me a charcoal/grey suit! Thanks✌😎🤘
Salute Riz!
I'm going with the grey suit, O.G. Classic and it reminds me of Sean Connery in 007!
Bond....
The Style O.G. I meant to say as "007" not in.
What shade of grey is urs? Im having trouble in choosing from the different shades. Urs is amazing tho.
Going for the grey I can combine better with black shoes and dark brown plus shirts black and white
Just got myself a grey suit. Wondered if i should have gotten black. This video is reassuring. 👌
glad to hear it Raj!
I've always thought it's the best idea to have at minimum a Navy blue suit and charcoal grey before adding a black suit. Just speaking on versatility alone, the combination possibilities are nearly endless with your blue and grey suits. Black...not so much.
That outfit is looking sharp Jeff!
appreciate it Tim!
Will there be a video on how to buy the perfect suit or suit separate?
Great video, Jeff. Sometimes, depending on circumstances, the only suit you need is your birthday suit :-)
true indeed Lou! lol
What shirt color looks better to a medium-dark light shine gray suit? Casual, Thanks OG:-)
Great content! Me personally I vote for the navy. They're so many different shades of colors you can play with when it comes down to navy.
P.s. its been quite a while since I've seen any grooming content. I'm really interested and curious to know whats your beard maintenance routine.
Salute.
more grooming topics on the way..
I agree on the grey suit, albeit the dark grey suit. I bought a light grey suit, and it stained easily
This video got me subscribed love from Dubai
Love !
Mr. O.G! You’re the man, man! Lol Shilom 🙏🏾
Shilom Nehemiah!
In my opinion, you look better on that grey suit. Plus it fits better on a European scenario, like the one I live. Still loosing weight before taking the first step on the way to buy my only suit.
appreciate the feedback Andre!
Hello, I have very dark brown skin, I don't what colorssuits to wear.
Sos style question! Going to a funeral tomorrow morning should/can i wear
a) slightly shiny woolen/silk black suit ( i want but i feel its not appropriatr) or
b) classic navy suit
Classic navy..
The Style O.G. Thank you so much for the feedback much appreciated (:
Hey, where did you purchase your suit from. And I enjoyed your video ! 👍🏽
J Crew Ludlow...Thanks Sigma!
The Style O.G. Thank you 👍🏽.
Hey man!
I have a Interview in a Bank and I have the exact same suit as you.
I have a decently build Physique, can I wear this?
Yes Sir
Why don’t you make a poll for grey vs navy? I’m interested in the results.
I think I will Michael!
Jeff: I am talking about your job interview
me: ok
Jeff: I am talking about your funeral
me: ig I will die in style
😂
Sharp suit you're wearing, Sir! Is it the Neapolitan Cut?🔥
Salute from phoenix az.
What other job you do besides UA-cam influencers
Still believe if only one suit or just starting the navy blue wins out. However if it's a charcoal grey it can work.
appreciate the input Michael!
Another point is that it's much easier to match the tie color. Almost every tie color can work with a grey suit
True!
Grey
Hi!
When you first said that a blue suit should be the first suit, I thought to myself, "That's blaspheme!!!"...and then I subscribed
(I don't believe that anyone should only listen to what they believe in but everyone should listen different views)
However, I still think the grey suit is the best first suit, because you only have to be watching the color combinations on your shirt and tie (without even really factoring in the grey suit)
With the blue suit, you have factor in the blue suit and the color combinations of your shirt and tie.
appreciate the input Genius!
Salute!
Salute mykell83!
" What's your favourite dish ? "
- "Grey Suit"
Hummm I'm not a guy but I love to see gray on a guy. I like the darker gray verses the light. Suit looks good bro ❤ however I think u can pull any color off and still look good. 😊 😊
Thanks Sis!
OG, what do you think about a blue suit? Not a navy suit. More like a royal blue suit or dark on that spectrum.
I like it if you already have the basics covered Damion
Lint shows up too heavily on dark colors. I hate it! With no lint roller always around, gray is going to be the best. In addition, I like the ability to combine pants, jacket pieces with either piece of a gray suit. With the right (self) stylist, even different blends of suit pieces could work with gray as the foundation. Thanks for the video.
thanks for the feedback D_Roi!
I definitely agree that fellas sleep on the gray suit, and I think what you said at the end of the video was something a lot of fellas sleep on with the separates is the weave, weight, and fabric of the suit. I would recommend a lightweight carded fabric or a twill which will dress down the fabric if it needs to be relaxed. Or I would go with a flannel for the fall, you pair those joints with some cords, tweed, or even a sweatshirt and dress shirt up under that bad boy and you're ooo killin em. Just saying. Great video as always fam.
appreciate the input Bro!
Cant argue with that I need both lol
Both isn’t a bad idea !
I remember when I was younger (I'm 50), back then, they said the suit you needed was a black suit. Man, how times have changed.
I've never owned a black suit besides a tux Phillip
That suit is hella tight OG
1:48 yea gona visit my funeral with my grey suit
I'm still confused as to why I have 2 grey suits of the same shade in my closet...donr feel as bad after seeing this video
Gray suit shows you mean business
True indeed!
Grey suit only, Mr Salute
Salute!
How many rakims for the grey suit? That’s all that really matters.
8.5 Rakims! lol
Navy, I’m a brown shoe fanatic
love brown shoes myself as well..
Jason2M’s
If your grey suit is a quality one, wear quality brown shoes, you'll own the room. Trust me.
I still prefer my blue suits first but I do have a charcoal and light grey suits and yes black shoes work better with grey
appreciate the input Bobby!
and again!
notification squad???!!!
OG Squad, Salute!
Salute!
No...I think a diff color.
✊🏾
my man!
I disagree a shark skin made out of light material can only be worn in spring or summer, charcoal only in the winter. Trust me you do not want to be wearing the wrong grey suit in the wrong season.
Could i have a shoutout in a future video?
i'll put you on the salute list!
I think a navy suit
appreciate the input Mark
The Style O.G. Thanks Bro!
My main man.....
Mookey!
Is black shoes with navy suit bad combo? :/
it works but not my favorite combo!
The Style O.G. Thx for answer love ur vids!
I would say it would also depend on your personality and/or your profession. Black shoes are often associated with conservative very formal offices if you were pair the navy with a pair of cap toe black shoes it could be a elegantly formal look. And if you get some extra dough you could opt for some oxblood or cognac brown shoes. If you are working in a more casual work environment like a tech or marketing company black shoes with a blue suit can come off a little pretentious so maybe you could opt for a great pair of classic white sneakers. Just a thought.
1:48 My funeral? 🙁
works there too! lol
Michael Chan hahahaha
Navy suit, if you wanna look like an aging politician
Why mention funeral
People die?
Your funeral
That Lapel are too small for you
I got the charcoal grey , I think darker colors conveys moor professionalism
appreciate the input my g!
