Today, my vent direction control failed. It was stuck blowing on the floors. Thanks to your video, I was able to get into it deep enough to correct the problem. It seems that the two way cable came off the dial. Reset on to dial.... Whala.... Directional control returned. Thanks man.
I am a novice when it comes to working on my car so I'm glad I found this video... I am installing some lights inside my grill and I had inquiries about how to remove panels to wire everything so that it looks flush and unnoticeable, this video answered all my questions and has planted ideas for where I will add my switch to activate the lights.
Anthony Jimenez awesome man. I'm so glad when people take the time to let me know it was helpful. makes me wanna tear the car down and record it all lol
You know what I love? Whenever a guide on UA-cam doesn't start with "WHAT'S UP GUYS! UA-cam HERE! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHENEVER YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE DASH OF YOUR CAR! FOR THE PAST 300 YEARS, BORED DADS EVERYWHERE HAVE WONDERED THIS FROM THE FIRST DAD THAT LANDED ON PLYMOUTH ROCK BACK IN 1618! [One History Lesson Later...] So that's how I ended up deciding to remove the dash of my car! But what does that REALLY entail??? Well I wanted to install a new radio so I went online and looked up radios which ended up with me going through . . . [One Explanation-of-why-UA-camr-is-removing-the-dash-later...] Ok so how do you do it? Let's FIND OUT! [Minute long Dubstep Intro] Even your request for comments was short and quick. It was like 3 seconds! So I commented. Good job man!
Thank you I have the same model with the airbag and tweeters in my pillars and been wondering what the best to way would he to take them out because I've been planning to plain them black for two years now haha. I've done it with older cars but they didn't have airbags behind them or anything connected so it was easier. Awesome video!
Thank you for this! I just got a sonic and I dont like how the panels are scratched. My car was wrapped and has to get redone, so im matching in/exterior now! Do you have a video on how you did the shift knob? If not can you point me in the direction on how to get it off?
@@coraleeulrich177 so my shift knob itself isn't wrapped or changed at all, I just wrapped the trim around it. I thought I included it in one of my videos, but if not, its actually really simple. Start the car, hold the brakes, slide the shifter all the way back, grab the top edge of the shifter trim woth your fingers and pull towards the center console. The piece will flex outward in the middle allowing g the too edge to come free, from there just raise the top and the piece comes right out, super simple.
Excellent video you gave me the confidence to tackle some parts of what you did. THANKYOU. confidence my weak point. How about upper glove box removal. Too be honest . Yes in 2017 to 2019 they added a second USB but took up space in center console by putting it there. Plus to set you phone etc into the right side dash pocket next to upper glove box your cord has to be much longer and see that and the USB's is ugly. Should have left the USB port part in upper glove box hidden away and shorter cord, even hide your charging phone in glove box. My model still has the upper box door notch and indent in edge of that storage box. So my style USB could be put back there but only if the wiring for my lower mounted area is long enough to reach up to the upper glovebox. If I did that I would then get your older style lower console storage trim compartment piece around gear shifter and install that. Getting BACK they bit more storage space. I know you said you would like it the way my model is. But na. Plus my style you could spill something into the USB or just dust and dirt. So would the wiring for mine allow me to mount USB back in upper glovebox. Question and answers guys.
I have the exact same car (It's even that badass red) only the 2015. The only difference I can see is that chrome trim on the steering wheel. Excellent video - one of the more helpful- Worth subscribing. I think I need to replace my heater core - I'm getting that smell inside. Someone on the forum said the dealership removed his entire dash but all that was really necessary was the center console - it's where the core is located. Hopefully that will be the case. I'm hoping you have more video's - I want to see how you put that vinyl on - it looks awesome. Do you have a list of all the mods you've done?Anyway - thanks for all the work - it's really appreciated.
what Did you put on your door panels? it looks like a cushion on the hard plastic area where your arm would rest? I hate the hard plastic on the panels. I'm also in the gamma fb page. :)
yes sir. I had an upholstery shop make me some little pads there. After a road trip from Alabama to Chicago I quickly noticed that my elbow got pretty sore form resting it there. Si they color matched the body with a vinyl material and put those on for me. Cost me $25 per door. Well worth it too. I didn't want it permanent in case i didn't like it, so they're just installed with a decent strength double sided tape. I think next I'm going to get them to make some little cushions in the same color to shove between my front seats and the center console for the simple reason of stopping things from falling in that crack. It's super hard to reach stuff that falls and I hate removing the seats just to get a good detail cleaning on the interior.
I don't suppose you ever found a way to change the tint of the light up portions of the buttons on the climate control or possibly the instrument cluster so it's not all blue?
well I am going to be installing a boost gauge with the zzp gauge mount that fits were that upper tray goes so this helps although I still need to run the vacuum line can you see under the dash in order to run the hoses or I need to take the top part of the dash off ? I like the fabric you used on yours .......great video thanks for posting
Thanks. And from what I recall, I was able to see into the dash pretty well, but I'm not sure what all is entailed in the gauge installation. Hard to say if only removing trim will suffice. If you don't mind, comment back here when you get in installed and let us know. Good luck.
Brandon Gray I used your video to remove the panels and unbolted the radio spliced into the radio wires for the lights for each gauge ,then ran the wiring up through the rubber boot in the fire wall ....
at 12:08 you see the big white things? I would check to see that they're plugged in well...but as far as troubleshooting AC I'm not really sure what else to consider. Not really my expertise. Sorry, wish I was more help
If I understand your question correctly, those are actual dash pieces. You'd begin underneath the dash and behind the glove compartment and just go to town taking stuff apart. I looked into it briefly when I saw that the Dusk edition Sonic had brown instead of grey and I considered swapping it over. Too expensive though.

Kevin Macdonald right on.
Glad the video helped!

3 years and one day later! Thank you. I just got the zzp gauge pog and was looking for a trim removal video.
Nice. I have the ZZP short ram intake. Love the sound. Happy to help man.
Dude, thanks a ton! AC control wire had come off and I had no clue how to get that dash apart! Saved me $$$!
Right on!
Thanks man. I had to get the dash apart on my wife's sonic to fix the diverter for the hvac. I appreciate your video.

hahaa, right on man. Believe me, I'm over exposed to the screamers of UA-cam as well. My kids love em lol
Awesome video!!! I got all the information I needed. Thanks bud!

Sorry I can't answer that one. I haven't taken that stuff apart yet. Maybe someone will comment and answer you.

Awesome vid. Post one for the steering wheel trim removal. Btw, sick A-Pillars.
I will certainly try. And thanks

What kind of vinyl wrap did you use for the center radio trim?
skurtov
the section around the radio was left unwrapped, but everything else I wrapped was done in Oracal 951

Perfect videos. Very helpful, thank you.
My grandsons A/C switch seems like its not working, only blows hot air.How do I remove the switch to check if its ok.Thanks for the great video.

Any idea where to get just the trim red parts that go on the outside left and right compartment spaces? All I can find is entire dash kits :/
Aaron Mohr only thing I know to try is gmpartsguy.com or a parts yard. if you're on Facebook look for the Gamma sonic group
Brandon Gray right on thanks man! Nice video btw. Decided that's dumb and already painting them in the garage now ha
Thank you.
how do you do the beige panels on the dashboard

Very good video....thank you!
Can I get to my vent controller from the bottom? the wire fell off the knob.
from the bottom I don't think so. The top of that console will block you
thanks, I really need this video!!!
Where did you find your red cover at? I am looking for a blue.
you mean the red trim on the dash?
I'm sorry your cover that you have on your lever for P, R, N D in your gearshift area, did you buy that or spray paint it?
And the trim to. I have a 2013 as well but a sedan version, wanting to customize the inside a bit. Thank you!
it's all wrapped in vinyl actually
How to you take the thing off on the knob???
Where did you get that red trim??
I vinyl wrapped it. Oracal 951
Thanks for the vid man
Absolutely brother. No problem at all. I'm just happy this video has been productive and helpful
👍👏 감사합니다
Thx man
