This is the best walk around the future factory on the UA-cam. Thanks. I’m so sick of watching videos where someone just plays the pedal and calls it in-depth. Thanks! This is the way all these videos should be!
So: -One delay can be used as a Modulation pedal and the other as a Delay (likewise Eventide TFactor) or ... May be as a looper: Does it have a Freeze function? - The soft clipper is apparently placed in the feedback path on dly#1 which suggests that the feedback path is indeed analog. -Sweeping the time seems to glide the pitch accordingly: outstanding if it’s made via DSP, even more exciting if it’s made via VSR (like Eventide Rose) -I you set one delay to 1 mSec and kill the dry sound you have a Vibrato an a Flanger that can be triggered by your playing dynamics (envelope detector) and judging for the mod depth display you can go from Mild2Wild. All this with a 3 band semi-parametric EQ... ah! This gotta be xpensive in Japan and more so in Europe, damn.
Thank you. I feel like I could pull this out of the box and at least get some sounds out of it after watching this. It drives me nuts when someone does a demo of a delay pedal and immediately goes to the craziest sounds it can do rather than actual usable settings.
Amazing review Ryan! Can I ask you something? I'm using FF-1Y and AS-1R, and wanna make it stereo. As I have Victory V4 Kraken Amp pedal, so I'm gonna place my delay/reverb after the amp pedal and go to mixer directly with Walrus Audio Canvas Stereo. In this Situation, should I adjust my Free the Tone pedal's input level switch to "line level"? By the way, I'm gonna connect this pedals with XLR-TS cable(Kraken Cab sim -> FF-1Y) and TS cables(FF-1Y -> AS-1R -> Canvas). I'm not sure this is a right way :( could you give me some advice for this?
I don’t think you have to change to line level. And sadly I’m not familiar enough with the victory pedals (though I do have a dp40) to be able to say for sure what to do there!
Current I run a dual pick up system on my acoustic guitar. I was considering buying this pedal. I’d like to run 1 pick up into A and 1 into B, come out respected outputs then into separate channels on my amp. Could I still designate separate delays and stack them in series? Maybe one dotted 8 and other 1/4. Would it create an ambient wash like when you stack two different delay pedals? I’m assuming to get through the 4 presets you’d have to hit that button multiple times. Thanks. Great job
When you went to Series, it was still in stereo, correct? Wondering if I can create a mono tremolo effect (while still wired up as stereo) and drop my trem pedal.
Can you use both the series (delay A into B) and stereo (delay A and B in parallel) modes in mono? Also, would I be able to recall each modes through MIDI (PC)? Thanks for the great review!
I believe it’s a “yes” to all of these, but I’d check the manual to be certain! You can definitely save and recall presets via MIDI with any setting you want stored in them; and stereo vs mono is just a matter of how you hook up outputs I think.
I did check the manual (no info to be found) before asking you. Could you try running both modes in mono when you get a chance? I'm not to confident about the series mode working in a mono setting... Thanks for your response Ryan!
I only had it long enough to demo, so I don’t physically have one anymore otherwise I would. :( But I’m pretty dang certain that series works in mono - otherwise you’d have to run stereo to get like a galloping delay, and that’s not the case with any other delay I’ve tried either. For what it’s worth! You could also try emailing them directly about it.
You didn’t cover what I think is the best part of this delay, the invert phase function…you can reverse the phase of one delay, which produces a huge, psychoacoustic spatial effect….The old TC 2290 did this…..Seems like with the panning and reverse phase, they really took notes from the 2290,which is really cool……Great video though…excellent sounds..
Great question...I don’t think it has to run in stereo for anything. It’s just that some of the effects only work on one side (delay A or B) and not the other.

Thanks for the kind words, man!
One of the best sounding delays I’ve ever heard besides the 2290 that I used to own. I’m so tempted to buy one of these.
Good review... Functionality and sound quality sold me... Can't wait... Thanks... ☺️
Thanks man!

Pro Tip: The Parameter knob can be held down while turning to change values faster, similar to the Boss 200/500 series pedals.
Some interesting features on this delay. Pedal
God knows I dont spend time tweaking the multiple delays I have already, but this just LOOKS ultra cool and I want it haha
Hahaha. Totally!
Great video. Can you pan it so Delay A only comes out 100% left and Delay B only comes out 100% right?
Yep!
Would a selector switch for easy preset access work with this without going the midi route? Also, is there a place for external tap tempo?

How do you access factory presets?

I think that would work!

Yeah, as long as both outs are plugged in you'll get signal to both sides, so it should work in theory!
Could you, in theory, set the delay time to zero, and the mix to 100, and use it as an EQ pedal? Strange question I know. Thanks for the video.
In theory yes? Haha. Same theory behind using a delay as a chorus
@@kiesshauer Thanks! I figured! I was just hoping there wasn't some stupid thing I'd forgotten. :)
Thanks for this! What is the maximum delay time?
You’re welcome! ...aaand I’m not sure. 😬
@@kiesshauer hehe, says 10 sec in the manual, but I wonder what if 10 sec is set on both delay units and in series...

Sounds good Ryan. I'll double check with them. Thanks for the feedback!

@@kiesshauer yeah..try it…it sounds like the delays are coming from all around you…
Do you know if there's a college course on how to run this thing?
Hahaha. Kinda needs to be, doesn’t there?
@@kiesshauer No kidding.
FT-2Y vs Future Factory… Wich is the closest to the 2290?
I wish I knew, haha
I can’t find this pedal anywhere 🤔
Yeah It’s not widely available for some reason. :(
@@kiesshauer I learned today that a fire in a suppliers parts factory has set production back. Extended back orders with no availability date.
Dang!!
FYI - Free The Tone announced yesterday they have resumed manufacturing on the Future Factory. Dealers should be receiving stock soon.
