Thank for the video. Note: In 18.5 you will need to add a background node in between your BSpline and merge nodes. This will then make your mask visible like in the video.

Ive made similar effect few years ago, but back then there was no Proto so ive done it with build in neon effect. I have to do it now with Proto xD As always great tutorial !!

To get everything to work with davinci 18.6 you need to do your polygone or BSpline into a background node then into Proto v2 then into the merge node. Hope that helps
Can we track this mask or should we manually adjust it
I have 18.6 and didn't have to do this at all. I'm on MacOS though if that matters.

My proto has a resolution of 1920x1080 and when I use it in a 4K timeline i have hard edges where the 1080p resolution ends in the 4K footage. Can I resize proto v2 to 4K also?

Select the points to be transformed, then do one of the following:
Hold T and drag to twist.
Hold S and drag to scale.
Hold X and drag to scale horizontally only.
Hold Y and drag to scale vertically only.
Hold O and drag to offset the points perpendicular to the tangent.
by one pixel at a time by using the Ctrl+Shift+Arrow keys left and right and the up and down arrow alone for up and down.
Hold Alt and klick nearby take poits next.

In my case the protov2 effect and colors look perfect in the fusion tab but in the timeline the effect shows all weird due to color grading done (adding the clip to a group). If i reset the color grading the proto effect looks fine and so its glow. Any possibility to fix this ?

Great videos. Newbie to DaVinci. I don't have the paint mode when in fusion. Does that only come with paid version? Either I'm blind or it's not there lol.
The key bit for me, so far is when you clicked on the key frame icon to record the current shape of the spline. It didn't show it, but it's just a single click on the bottom key frame icon.
Thanks, I made a fun video of my cat as a super hero. Your instructions were great, also very useful info about using the arrow keys and setting visibility, that has saved lots of messing about. I made some manual adjustments to get the effect to follow the camera movement, but will use the planar transform to track the background next time. Using it to track a cat is a nightmare, you would not believe how a cat's shape morphs around 😀
