A "White Elephant" which the majority of Christchurch ratepayers did not want. Globally Rugby is a dying sport so the CCC thought fit to build a stadium at huge cost and overspend. Come on, you dont have to be a fan of it. And the way its being funded by CCC is irresponsible. But its a lie to say the majority of people didnt want it. It had the most public submissions of anything in CCC history and was like 83% in favour. Obviously that doesnt mean that 83% of ratepayers support it but its a pretty overwhelming number

The cathedral isnt funded by the CCC (they gave a little bit of money way back, but the vast majority of the funds come from the Anglican organization) Hospitals are not something that the council can fund. Assuming you are complaining that we are getting this instead of a bigger hospital or something. It does sound like you are saying that the new hospital infrastructure is a waste of money too which is asinine.

There is more to this stadium than just rugby, I personally think this stadium is perfect for our city. I've certainly missed having a stadium here.
