    1. Ukraine 2016: Live it, maybe my favorite winner ever
    2. Italy 2021: Another amazing song, one of the best performances ever
    3. Portugal 2017: I am so happy he won, especially since he revived native language won.
    4. Sweden 2023: Even though I was a Käärijä, this was a deserving winner.
    5. Ukraine 2022: Great song, great performance. I'm definitely happy that it won over Spain and the UK.
    6. Switzerland 2023: Even though I wanted Ukraine or Croatia to win, I can't deny how great the performance and the song were. I wish they picked a better outfit
    7. Austria 2014: Great song, great staging. Definitely a deserving winner in a mid year. None of my favs that year had a chance to win.
    8. Netherlands 2019: A great song that could have been higher on my list, but i have grown a bit tired of it. I wish the staging was better, too.
    9. Israel 2018: Another one that i loved on the first listen, but has now aged like milk.
    10. Sweden 2015: Not a bad song, just a bit boring

Nice top and nice reasoning! ❤️

Duncan is my no 1 too.
But i would rank Conchita higher, and Loreen lower. Loreen's second song doesn't match the success of her first Euphoria, and there was no novelty for me. It doesn't mean her second victory is less of accomplishment. But that's how i feel.

I haven't watched the video yet so I don't know about your rankings ;). I can't put these songs in an exact order from 1 to 10. But my three favourites would be Amar pelos dois (the most special of these winners imo, Portugal can be really proud!), Zitti e buoni and The Code. Arcade, 1944 and Stefania have a special place in my heart as well. I used to love Arcade immensely but I'm not THAT into it any more, and it's the opposite with other two songs, they have grown on me quite a bit later. Toy and Tattoo are the ones that I like the least... And Rise Like a Phoenix and Heroes are somewhere in between then :).

OK I can see Duncan and Loreen in my top three, but nothing can hold a candle to Salvador Sobral. The only song in this decade that made me cry after the first listen. There was so much talk about 'pack your bags to Rome' and he sneaked his way through to win with simplicity. Tattoo is much better than Euphoria ( Euphoria is not bad IMHO).
My top three almost wins from this decade are 'Soldi', Nobody like you' ( AUT 2018), and 'Hold me Closer' I'd be just as glad to see these songs win.

It is very interesting that so many 3rd places are actually so interesting to claim also a victory than some second places... I will probably go also there :D I like to seek the past this way :)

This is a fun exercise! My list would look like this:
10: Toy. One of the two winners from this period that I actively disliked. I have a certain amount of contempt for these sort of 'I'm a woman and therefore wonderful, now listen to my petty whining' type of songs. Is that harsh? Ah, I don't mean it with any venom. Netta herself ended up winning me over later because I thought she was a good and involved champion, and her performance of "Cuckoo" was beautiful and made me recognise some of the skills that I overlooked in Toy because the subject matter disengaged me.
9: 1944. I've predicted a few Eurovision winners in my time. I called Only Teardrops as the winner after only hearing a few bars of it in 2013. This song however, I did not see coming. I saw no merit in it at all on any level, and neither did any of the people I was watching the contest with. If it has any merit, I remain blind to it to this day. But I don't find it actively objectionable, so number 9 it is.
8: Amar Pelos Dois. And already we've gone from fairly cold feelings at number 9 to fairly warm feelings at number 8. This, I think is for me what Rise Like A Phoenix is for you...I get it, I understand why it won, but I struggled with the personal attachment. A bit like with my number 9 I was shocked it did so well at first, only this time I ended up seeing the fairly obvious merit in only a couple of listens. It's beautiful. And bonus points to Salvador just like Netta for doing things like the Fire Saga movie.
7: Arcade. For me this shows how good the list is, because this is one song that I did call as a winner and cheered on to victory. It's excellent on multiple levels, I just love and listen to every other song in this group that's ahead of it more than this one.
6: Stefania. It did my heart good to see the support for Ukraine matched by a legitimately worthy winner. I enjoy and listen to this song on a regular basis. The combination of the different musical elements in this song hits me right in my funky bone. It has lift and spirit and powerful use of rhythm...it's really strong.
5: Tattoo. This and Euphoria are songs whose individual merits are strong enough that it doesn't matter to me that I don't like the genre particularly much. I enjoy this one even more than Euphoria and although I definitely feel bad for Cha Cha Cha losing out to this, it has to be one of the textbook examples of how a jury might sometimes serve to elevate songs of objectively high quality over songs with broader popular appeal. It felt pretty good to have two of my favourite songs of the contest battling it out for first place. I think Loreen is magnificent and I love her style.
4: The Code. It wasn't my favourite song of the contest. That distinction goes to Before The Party Is Over, which didn't even make the final. Then it's Hollow, then Rim Tim Tagi Dim, then The Code. However, it's got this sweeping theatricality to it that I love, combined with very well considered and impactful staging and I ended up cheering for it with reasonable enthusiasm. It has a few clever lyrical touches that I appreciate. It's a worthy winner. And 2024 is a playlist-bolstering year.
3: Rise Like A Phoenix. Masterful from conception to execution, delivered with skill and panache. The lyrics are so much better than they needed to be, and I thought the staging was a masterclass in how you can be big and impactful while maintaining simplicity in a song that calls for both. Always good to listen to, always good to watch.
2: Zitti e Buoni. As you may have gathered by now, I'm what you might call musically intense. So an intelligent song from a real band of actual musicians is something that I'm predisposed to like, and the fact that it's a Eurovision song performed in the native language of the country makes it even better. The thing that surprised me the most about this one is how I loved it right from the start, but I just appreciated it more and more the more I heard it. It might be the catchy chorus hook that sticks with you at first, but the speed and precision in the delivery of those complex lyrics in the verses as the song builds up its pace is just glorious. This is what true quality sounds like.
1: Heroes. For me, this isn't just the best winner of this period, it's the joint best winner of the entire Contest's history. Heroes = Fairytale > Waterloo would be how I'd describe my top 3. The song is anthemic but also heartfelt, meaningful, driving. It has intelligent and varied lyrics, and the staging was and is a genuine delight, it was so unexpected and revolutionary at the time. It features one of the best fist bumps in history, and I do appreciate a good fist bump. Mans' vocal delivery requires no visual help though, having just the right edge in the right places to nail the key moments of the song. It's probably not a coincidence that I also consider Mans Zelmerlow and Alexander Rybak to be the greatest champions of Eurovision, having such passion for and involvement with the contest after their victories. "Love, Love, Peace, Peace" was truly a gift to the world.
I hope you found that interesting. I very much enjoyed your list, and it's fun to talk about this.

    1. 🇦🇹 14 - just perfect imo
    2. 🇳🇱 19- great and emotional
    3. 🇮🇱 18 - still listening to it!
    4. 🇮🇹 21- i miss the days when maneskin were singing in italian.
    5. 🇸🇪 15 - the song was top and the staging was innovative. (Maybe not the most original composition but i forgive them)
    6. 🇺🇦 16- i liked it more during the contest but nowdays less. But still special and beautiful.
    7. 🇸🇪 23 - a deserved winner and a big hit. However it is a bit generic to me.
    8. 🇺🇦 22 - good song but i dont see it in the list of the best winner songs lets say that.
    9. 🇨🇭 24 - i watched the performance(which was good) only once and that was enough for me. I think this will be one of the most forgotten winners of this decade at least.
    10. 🇵🇹 17 - that year was weak so i get why he won. However i cant stand both the song and the artist persona .

    10. Ukraine 2022: Ukraine in my opinion has had better songs than Stefania that didn't even win like Shum or Teresa & Maria. I can't say I'm a fan of this entry but I do like the flute and Ukraine never misses when it comes to staging.
    9. Austria 2014: This could be a soundtrack for a James Bond intro. Great song but I prefer the other winning entries.
    8. Sweden 2015: I was rooting for Jon Henrik Fjällgren in Melodifestivalen so I always had a bit of a grudge against Heroes, but Måns performance was so much more impactful on the ESC stage and the staging of course was immaculate. I'm not surprised he won.
    7. Israel 2018: I wasn't in the ESC bubble back in 2018 but I can imagine a fun, crazy song like this was quite the fan favorite. The "I'm taking my Pikachu home" line would give "Meow cat, please meow back" a run for their money.
    6. Portugal 2017: I'm glad a simple ballad in the native language without any extravagant staging or spectacle could win. The fact that Portugal has stepped up their game in the contest ever since Salvadors victory makes this entry even better in my books.
    5. Italy 2021: I wasn't a fan of this song until the night of ESC when I saw it on stage and heard the energy from the audience. A well deserved and overdue win for Italy who had been sending nothing but quality over the years.
    4. Sweden 2023: While I think Euphoria is the overall better package I still love this second Eurovision effort from Loreen and the bridge still gives me goosebumps.
    3. Netherlands 2019: This used to be my favorite ESC winner in recent years, but it has been dethroned. Still a quality entry and a deserved winner.
    2. Switzerland 2024: Might be recency bias but the genre-mixing with pop-opera and rap along with that gorgeous and creative staging makes this one of the most unique and best ESC winners for me. That shot where Nemo does the Matrix dodge on the rotating disc might be one of the coolest visual shots in ESC history.
    1. Ukraine 2016: This entry has aged like fine wine for me, not just because it's an epic entry but also due to the war with Russia which has given the songs message new life. I love the buildup, the ethnic sound and Jamala herself looking like she's planting seeds throughout her emotional performance, only for the song to climax in the end with a blooming tree. Perfect synergy between song and performance.

    2014. (nothing interesting)
    2015. (yes, worthy winner👍)
2016. (well, it is definitely not a song. I don't know what it is, but a song it is not. The real winner that year is Russia, c'mon👍)
2017. (a real freak, a joke for the contest, there is no quality)
2018. (I don't like the song, if Eleni would have sung like a chicken and been fat, then she might have won also👍)
2019. (another freak, no real hit)
2021. (a freak show made by freaks.)
2022. (well, they won because they needed to win, but if it the song would represent, say, Georgia or Poland, it wouldn't have even made it to the finals. Chanel behaved in a way that everyone in the world could envy and, above all, she did not freak out. She is normal and good, the real winner)
2023. (yes, one of the few normal winners.👍👍👍)
    2024. (🤡💩)
