I absolutely want to see this - a 10 second quarter mile in a car is extraordinary, but with a near instantaneous 0 to 100 mph on a drone I'll bet you can EASILY beat the quickest production cars on the market. If all they need is 5 seconds at full throttle, they're probably not even murdering the battery or motors. All competitors spec out and build their race quad or compete with their own gear... and may the most optimized build win! There are some INCREDIBLY quick quads I've seen posted on UA-cam... I imagine Vanover, the ridiculously competitive guy that he is, would just build a deviously overspeced monster 200mph quad.
@@tilgare Agreed, but are there ESCs that can handle peak power at that level for that long? I mainly fly micros so I wouldn't know

I used to run a 5 inch race drone that was fast as hell, but got six minutes plus with those old school 5040 bi blades. If I were showing up for this race, that's what I would bring.

I have an idea for the next FPV 2 mile race. Since the longer range drone won, it moves on to the next race. Replace the Bubito with Driblet 2S, replace the DJI Mavic with the DJI FPV drone, and replace the racing done with a long range FPV RC build (maybay a Deer RC Tachyon on 2s or 3s, or Aarma Kraton 6s. Thoughts?

man I think all the quads needed a fair chance, get everyone some high gain antennas and let them choose a battery
I would have liked to see the 5 inch equipped with walksnail too. I wonder if the walksnail was stepping on the mavic signal. Pilots could have stood further apart.

How did the mavic lose video less than a mile out? I've gone 5 miles out and back. Somebody sabotage the mavic to cause JB to lose
Also we had to switch off dual band because on previous attempts the Mavic vtx blew the other drones out of the sky almost immediately.
Mavic had to lock on 2.4 GHz because it was blowing out everybody else's video. And it was too close to the ground. During other runs (not included in the video) I was able to reach the gate at the end of the runway, but when I descended to go through the gate, I lost video.
@@JoshuaBardwell I heard the 2.4 lock but it would have been funny if Drip did it because he never wins. 😂

try a 2" toothpick instead of the babito, I think that would be more interesting. there are 2" toothpicks that can do 10 minutes on a battery.

Just now getting into FPV and I feel most comfortable using mode 4 - Throttle-Roll (left analog) and Pitch-Yaw (right analog). Will this hinder me in the future when I become more advanced? Please help!
Nah chief your good, most people use mode 2 but if you vibe with Mode four you shouldn’t really need to change anything other than the settings on your transmitter, if you ever end up flying someone else’s quad you could just ask them if you can change the setting kn the radio to mode 4 and it should be fine but realistically people aren’t going to be sharing the quads that often and having all your set ups set to mode 4 won’t be a problem. In almost every sim you can calibrate your radio to any mode you want depending on your preference you’ll be fine.

Great Vid! I wonder how the Chief 5" with the APC Bi-Blades would stack up? Reduce the motor kv down so it only goes 80-90 mph at full throttle and use an 1800mAh 6s.
Dji fpv might have won it all easily. Even only on sport mode.
...why? Against a 7 inch? If nobody's battery had made it, then yeah, but the 7 inch didn't have battery problems.

My first build just flew away into the abyss, hoping to save up and get flying by the end of the summer 😅 currently trying to choose between 4s or 6s if/when i build a new one
This video is f*&#!%! perfect for illustrating the very different styles of quads, but what I'd like to see is each of you fly each of the quads on the same exact track. It would be interesting to see if you use what you learn from each race and each other to ultimately overcome the weaknesses of the different kinds of quads.
This was thoroughly entertaining but feels unfinished!
i feel like drone drag racing would be a legit more interesting and easier to watch sport for most people then the current drone racing. would also help drive the technology forward as its focused ore on the drones performance then the pilot.

If you wanna do real drag race competition with drones you actually need to do it indoors where is no wind. A quarter mile (402 meters) indoor drag race could potentially be a serious competition... Are there halls larger than 500-600 meters ?
or the wind speeds may only be a certain limit and the wind direction may not go in the same direction. One could define a maximum angle of the wind direction. From the front and from behind would not be ideal wind direction...
what antennas do I need for my walksnail goggles to get a mile?
60mph is a mile a minute. The race drone will probably make the distance with battery to spare.

Man the Bubito made it pretty far, that's amazing!
