That's what I call a winking panda, I actually like the exhibition back for the quartz movement, shows its a quality movement. Anyway I think the elephant in the room though regarding this one is it's a subdial chronograph, not a fan of that type here. At any rate another great review. Thanks
This is a nicely thought out design. You have the chrono seconds in a subdial? Then make the bezel have something else than a tachymeter. Great to see that, although I mostly agree with you. In my opinion, just having the minutes on the bezel would have been ideal. What surprises me the most about this is the comparison to the side profile of the Speedy case. The Speedy is so much thinner (at least the flat part of the case, I think the full thickness of the Speedy is around 13. something, so not too much of a difference there) and so is the overhanging 'flying saucer' edge of the bezel. Another interesting difference when compared to the Speedy is the bracelet. This does look quite a bit like an older style 'bullet' bracelet, but it is quite a bit thicker and the tapering is nowhere near as extreme as on the Omega bracelets (at least the contemporary ones for the Speedy). The color choices on the dial and hands are spot on imho. And I think the display caseback is great. I don't think there's anything wrong with showing a quartz movement.
I was really tempted by this one, especially right now during the LIW Black Friday sale. I don't think I would have paid retail for this, but right now they are going for $235 USD. If it would have had a small running seconds, and a normal chronograph seconds hand, it would have had a better chance at winning me over. I wanted my first analog chronograph to look a little more standard, and would have preferred a tachy bezel over the 24 hour scale to go with the bigger second hand (I've been using 24-hour time at work for 26 years, so I really don't need it on my watch). It's a great looking watch, still, and I am in the camp that does like the see-through case back, even if it's quartz and doesn't make sense.
Im in the same camp after looking at the Black Friday deals on Long Island watch.com. I really want to love it but can’t get over the running tick and the two colors on the right sundial. You really can’t beat the value here though.
Display case back on a quartz! Savage 😂 Some Accutrons and GS maybe do that as well but more “elaboré” finished. The overall look is nice, speedy inspired but the chapter ring is too tall.
Hey ast, yeah, kind of a bit awkward to have a display caseback I suppose, I don't terribly mind it myself but def something that others have questioned. Thanks for watchin!!
i saw this review and decided to hit the trigger on it.. It was on sale on their website. I got it this past week and it's even nicer in person. My only gripe with it is the push buttons for the chronograph.. they are spongy and you need to press hard to start/stop/reset. Other than that.. looks terrific on my wrist..thinking of buying a NATO like strap for it as well
@@MirrlyonTime yes you mentioned it in the video and I agree with it. However it's a nice watch and at the price point (Under $250), can't go wrong with it IMO.
@@MirrlyonTime Thank you for the reply! The review is awesome, but I did not catch that bit, sorry! It is one of my pet hates, hence the first question I ask when I see a quartz. I do believe Mark makes excellent watches!
@@MirrlyonTime I have no complaints regarding length or content at all. I just happen to have an unruly 2 years old little girl :) hence I struggle to dedicate my full attention.
I think you're measuring the width of the bezel, which overhangs the case. Beautiful watch. Not a fan of "Amerigraph" (Americans and their American pride 😉).
Unfortunately the Bethpage is no longer being produced. I reached out to L.I.W. to see if it was coming back. It's April 2024. It's unclear at this time.
They did have a sale on them recently perhaps they sold out and they are coming out with a mechanical chronograph with what looks like the st1901 movement or st1900 can’t recall the exact model number but a seagull movement. Or perhaps it’s something else entirely lol, but they do have a pic on their Instagram of the display caseback on it
Nice looking piece. 2nd hand doesn't look on point (could be the angle). Can't see the point of a display case back. It deserves to be 42mm, giving it more of a presence. All Imho.
Well wirh the overhang of the bezel it does measure 42, but I hear ya a little larger would def make a great presentation, and display case back is odd but I don’t mind it tbh….
Islander watches are great. I like the display caseback.
Seems polarizing but I like it too, at least I don't mind it. Thanks pal, watching your omega video soon, whew can't wait to see it :)
Like the display back, not something you usually see on a quartz.
Seems you either love it or hate it with that, I like it tbh

Thanks as always Andrei!!
Thanks for the video. The watch looks nice. For the same money, I would go with the ST19 movement over this quartz. Cheers!!!
Oh yea definitely a good option I have yet to get one of those
@@MirrlyonTime they are about $160 USD for the Phylida ST19

It’s a nice watch but if it doesn’t quite grab you and scream to you buy me than if kicks not be the one.

Yeah great watch but also one of my gripes about it which I believe I mentioned in the video? Can’t recall lol, but very solid watch as usual with LIW

$215 fit the black dial on January 6, 2024. I pulled the trigger.
Congrats it’s a great piece
Does the seconds hand hit all the markers please?
It does, and mentioned in review, it has a lolly pop at the end so can’t say how precise it hits because it doesn’t have a narrow tip…

Good point there, size wise the bezel does make it wear like a little bigger but true the case is 40 but 42 with the bezel, thanks m8!
