I have played Rattle Battle and grab the loot, and one of the comments one of the other players that played with me said is that it is a whimsical introduction into miniatures combat. Since a lot of the dice combat deals with line of sight and upgrades. I really like the fun but complex nature of the game, even if it does get a bit long.

Just got this game and already plan to start with more upgrades or pirates and reduce the adventure count.

I once played a 5P Pirate War game - 3 of them are new to the game - and it took about 2 1/2 hours to finish. IMO it was a lot less 'bloody' than expected, though this may be due to players being passive. Still I think the game lasted just nice enough as long as players got into the right mood. To me the greatest selling point of the game was being able to deck out your personal ship with seemingly overpowered abilities, AND have your ship upgraded visually. It's always pleasing to see what you've build regardless of winning or losing, and after games we would often look & describe what kind of pirates we were :)
As for the expansion, it seems that 1 of the 2 included scenarios would start players with a heavily equipped ship, so I would expect a) less scenario as build up adventures are no longer required & b) harder obstacles, & looking forward to see what they'll do with the loot since (I assume) upgrades are less of a concern.
p/s: 2P game in 45 min is totally doable, though I would say a customized insert to facilitate easy setup & upkeep is necessary. Speaking from experience as I do like this game enough to have done just that :)

I'd love to import this to an online format if someone could scan the pieces in

How did this slip under my radar? Game looks fun. Love randomness in the game. I'm sure there are those that like to plan out things but it's much more interesting to have to deal with whatever outcome occurs while trying out your strategies.Thank for this. Love your Run-throughs. Bought many games because of them.

i'd like to start this with 1 sailor per player or do a draft of sailors to star the game to spice it up or something
