Storyteller, jester, living statue... there is so much to Hoid. It's the casting that could make or break things for the whole Cosmere.

His interactions show (to anyone familiar with the way he moves chess pieces within the Cosmere) the fact that he is interested in not only what is happening within the SA, but also with the primary POV characters we've come to know. He has spent time talking to Kaladin and Shallan...etc over time from the first book on. Anyone who can show up and lightweave without actually having a spren yet to lightweave, should probably be a point of interest. 😅

Signing a contract to act as hoid basically means lifetime of maintaining same weight and being willing to go to facial surgery to keep yourself looking young after you've played Hoid for 30 years and start getting old.
At least by the time Dragonsteel would be filmed the actor would have 30 years of experience playing Hoid in all his various disguises and be able to do the character justice.
Hoid could easily be played by several actors of several different races. Each planet he lands on he can use a different disguise to help him blend in to the culture.
It's definitely important that the same actor plays Hoid in all the small roles. But honestly, once he becomes a more major player, and even the non-book fans know who Hoid is, that's when you can replace the actor because we'll know this is what Hoid looks like now. The actor getting old is a real concern for a large role like this. Edit: Although honestly, but the time the actor's age becomes a problem, I think our deepfakes will be good enough that Hoid will be a permanently digital character. And then any actor can play him because he'll always look the same.
With the way AI is going, Lightweaving will basically be an irl thing by the time we get to late-stage Cosmere adaptations. So yeah, aging probably won't be a problem.
Hoid`s presence is so brief in most Cosmere stories that the actor can probably film it in a few days and move along to other projects of his choosing.
Also tbh, with disguises imagine we just get someone with the “hawkish features”, and it makes looking for Hoid in the films as hard as it can be in the books. We have to speculate about whom Hoid is! Haha

And it probably wouldn't take theatre producers long to twig to the fact that if they ever cast you in a role, however minor, hordes of geeks would descend on the production just to watch you and then wait by the stage door with flutes for you to sign.

My idea would be to follow Wayne's advice, and have a disguise that distracts from the actual person underneath, so they can use multiple people for it, so long as the disguise remains recognizable? (This was Wayne's advice, right? I'm not 100% sure where I heard it, but I think it was Mistborn Era 2...) Like some facial prosthetics that you can glue onto anyone you please. Also, maybe go for generic-looking actors, so it's easy to find replacements.

Hoid uses disguises so we could just get a bunch of similar looking actors play him in different movies. All we really know is he is tall skinny and has angular features. His hair changes between white and black, and he has light weaving so, infinite different looks

Hoid changes appearances all the time. Shallan changes everything about herself and she's a newborn compared to Hoid. Although I would like to see the actors have similar mannerisms, so the faithful can understand Hoids machinations.

I know it probably wouldn’t meet a larger audience, but I would love if the cosmere were adult animated features / shows. It’d be way easier to find a replacement for a character’s voice than their voice AND body. Plus I think some of the magic systems would be cooler animated than CGI. But I know there are a lot of takes on this and in the end I’ll take what I can get.
To be fair he does use disguises a lot, so we could have a series of actors playing Hoid - you'll never know who is Hoid until the post credit scene 😛
