Thank you for uploading this video (Although I'm late in seeing it). This was a treat to see an extended version of one my favorite scenes in a Bond film. It's wonderful to see the creative process and raw footage for such a great film.

It did happen. In Golden Eye Bond barely used his car at all.

this version missed out on probebly the best part where bond fixes his tie underwater that was fucking classic
Brosnan was actually the one who gave this idea of fixing the tie underwater. The idea paid off!

this was the Director's original rough cut of the Boat Chase. This cut is missing inserts, some important; the tie straightening, the Torpedoes in the water, the electronic map read-out etc... and many sound effects. At 8 minutes it was too long even if it did make the boat's ability to turn corners on land clearer. Once it was decided to move this action sequence ahead in the film, to be a part of the pre-credits scene, they had to shorten it to the 5 minutes you see in the film. Why? The pre-credits sequence clocked in at over 22 minutes and slowed the pace of the film's opening as well as weakened some character introductions. After editing and inserts added it came in at 17 minutes, the longest pre-credit scene up to that time. The 2009 ultimate edition DVD release of this film explains this well with the extensive extras.
Apart from some interesting extra footage around Tower Bridge, I don't think the rest adds much. Also the breakaway pier bit seems odd out of sequence.
One of my favorite sequences of the Pierce Brosnan era, a pity we didn"t have this version on DVD since it contains unpublished scenes that we have not been entitled to and which would have allowed the spectators to savor even more the the intensity of boat chase James on this very sophisticated powerboat.
Thanks for this, it's really interesting to see what they left in and what didn't make the cut. I actually quite enjoyed the extra driving scenes even if the dog thing was a bit weird!

Personally speaking, I think this is the best bond film of the Pierce Brosnan era. Michael Aptd did a brilliant job directing. Great special effects, great story.
Casino Royal and The World is not Enough are two best bond film in my opinion.

1:20 is an awesome spin- should have left that in. That lady in her magnificent boat is just perfection. I'm glad they cut out the police trying to catch a cigarette boat in inflatables.

@ 4:17--you could just see it---Bond is ticked-off. What would one call this... 'River Rage'? I loved watching him tear through London, tearing through a cafe & a restaurant---while 'not' tearing his boat hull.
My favorite gag in all this was watching the London cops chasing that speedboat with those dinky rafts---as if they had any chance of catching her! LOL.

I had no idea those missiles were on the back of the boat, cut out in the theatrical version.
It's not your imagination, I distinctly remember that underwater tie adjustment as well. That scene is not included in this video, I noticed that as well.

That's actually Pierce driving the boat, so bad ass. Besides Christmas Jones, this is a great Bond movie.
Back in the days when James Bond was actually good. Awesome tech, great chase scenes, Pierce Brosnan and a great storyline.
Bond died after Pierce Brosnan was removed.
All we have now is a discount, Jason Bourne.

@@jcwyu Yeah he makes that smile in another scene of one of his Bond movies. But honestly here it doesn't make much sense and he turns that smile in a random dark expression like right after, kinda hard to decipher.
Richard Johnson I have read that the people who wrote the screenplays for the last few Bond movies weren’t as inclined to put in little jokes like that after the Austin Powers films basically took the mickey out of the Bond franchise.
I think it's a bit stupid to say which James Bond movie is the best, and which one is the worst.
In my honest opinion, each and every one has its moments. Even the Quantum of Solace, which because of its action scenes cut into a thousand millions of pieces and a bunch of missed opportunities which could've made that movie brilliant, had really awesome parts.

A really good job. If I had edited it, I would have cut from where the boat exits the boat shed to where it lands in the Thames opposite the Millenium Dome. I never liked all the business of the boat driving on dry land. But excellent job!

This is a pretty old upload now considering it was uploaded in 2009. I wonder if this was an alternate cut, or if the uploaded found alternate/cut footage and spliced it in the cinematic released footage. Either way it was interesting to see the shots that didn't make it, and I'm also glad they didn't make it because this version was an absolute mess. Definitely the best scene from any Bond film. It was great to see this version but I preferred the final edit as I thought the speedboat getting chased by the police cars was just a bit OTT.
Please bring back david arnold to score bond movies..

@HinrichsProductions i saw the comparison-thing on the dvd where they show you the storyboards alongside with the "final cut" of the scenes, and i definitely see now [more of] how the storyboards fit in with the "final cut"; because the storyboards had james bond going THROUGH a fish-market and you barely saw any of that IN the final-cut. the storyboards showed alot more things than the final cut and this extended-scene really shows you more of what the storyboards showed.

It was because there had been a recent TV series called "Clampers" about traffic wardens - the one that got soaked the most was Ray Brown who was a right nasty bastard towards people - even sticking a ticket on people who had pulled over because they had been taken ill!

A better stress relief I cannot think of. I particularly like picking a part of London at night and smashing all the lamp-posts until I cannot see a single light from my chosen location. I can't push it too hard because the game will crash eventually, but still, it's good fun.

Still worth seeing though. The little nods to previous books and films made it for me. And there is some humour. Mainly from the bad guy, Silva, and Dame Judy. The gearstick got the biggest laugh in the cinema.....
