I could cry right now, seriously I am so happy I watched this! I have spent HOURS upon DAYS trying to figure out the workflow to go from procreate to illustrator with sketches! The illusive Vector image from designs I want to keep the edges rough and be able to color everything in separate layers!!! OMG, thank you from the bottom of my heart! As soon as I graduate from school I will buy something on your website!
Great video thanks! I’m old school and have been separating colors to layers in photoshop > Image/trace/expand in Illustrator (but much the same was you did here.) I always felt the ipad wouldn’t offer me the tools and flexibility I’ve been using for years !but you proved me wrong and gave me a flexible tool always from my computer. Guess this old dog can still learn some new tricks! Always appreciative when artists share their tips/shortcuts - especially with the technology changing so quickly.
Adobe Capture on the iPad is new to me. Thanks so much for this video. I’ve started going more in the iPad versions of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. This was great 👍
this is the most helpful video i've ever seen!! literally been looking for a way to do this for like 9 months, and it works like a charm! i used your method but used Affinity Designer instead of Illustrator, and it worked like a charm. thank you so much!!
That is so awesome! I am also using Affinity Designer on Macbook Air, and the software feels so nice and refreshing. I want to get an iPad as soon as possible, because creating complex vector illustration on laptop with mouse, is soo time consuming, This seems to be a great process, Just one thing, can you also do isometric illustrations in the same process?
Hey! Did you need to use Adobe Capture? Or is there an Affinity Product that you used instead? I have Affinity Publisher, but not Designer nor Adobe Capture.
@@andemmet6646 I am not exactly sure how to answer your question. But what I do, is use adobe scan, or simply take a photograph with phone, Airdrop to laptop, and use that photograph as BG, to create vectors, I don't think this is a professional solution, but it works for me :))) Also, I do think you need Affinity Designer to work on vectors, Although Affinity is awesome, but there are few specific actions, that you can do in only one of their softwares, For example, I was editing a photo on Affinity Photo, and just wanted to try glass morphism effect. I created two shapes and just wanted to subtract one from the other, and I couldn't find an option for that, So I had to save file and then open it in Affinity Designer to do that, Same happened when I wanted to add stylised texts in Affinity Designer, I wanted to add texts around a picture/ illustration, and I wanted to them to adjust automatically, But for that, I had to use Publisher, But these are very minor issues, and in such a huge software, doing so many stuff, it's understandable to overlook, hope they get the time to fix it, Also, I think Adobe softwares are pretty seamless. like they support most features throughout, and that is pretty neat, But I don't think Adobe Indesign can be used to create vectors either, I might be wrong In conclusion, Yes, you need Affinity Designer to create vectors Thanks for reading, Hope this helped :))
This is amazing, because the Illustrator iPad doesn’t allow you to merge/flatten strokes in a good/ easy way, so having the whole drawing basically as one is perfect for outlines!
Hey thanks so much for this video tutorial it's actually pretty cool but I don't have the other two products that you use to export the vector file I was wondering you have an updated process?
Helped me out so much, because I needed a video like this with the designs I'm going to be making and this is very simple and straightforward. Thanks again and keep making awesome vids!!😀
Ray, I am just curious why you didn't just use the new illustrator app for the entire project. I am not sure if it is even possible but I was just curious if this is just your preferred method. Thanks, love the videos!
Great tutorial, very straight-forward. I'm just disappointed because the title said "iPad Procreate Tutorial," leading me to believe all of it will be done in Procreate.
so many programmes and hurdles. I'm pretty sure, you could have done everything in adobe illustrater and just saving it as an .ai, .svg or .eps file. Geeez.. soo much work...!
Hi. You will need procreate as well as illustrator to vectorize a drawing in an ipad? Could you use procreate and the Vectornator app to get it vectorized without getting Illustrator?
What color profile is the final image in? I noticed you used RGB in procreate did you change it in AI? Also, is the same result achieved when beginning with CMYK in procreate?
But that way the fun part of making vectorgraphics gone :/ I originally had an android tablet with infinite painter 8 and now I changed to ipad with procreate and I think infinite painter gives a lot more options for creating different types of art so I also like procreate but infinite painter gives the most options even reference pinning without "layering" it so maybe u should try it as well
You should make a bundle of logos about the Wild West , bulls, cows, horns, mountains, sunsets 🌅 etc! I just subscribe to your channel, very good videos 👍
So I'm not a big-time illustrator, but it seems that the entire second half of this video doesn't change anything? It looked just fine in procreate? Ipbiosly im a novice can someone please explain
@@JDMejBen procreate creates pixel based images, he is converting that to SVG file type which is vector based. Meaning that it can be scaled to any size without losing its sharpness.
Way too time consuming and complicated and too many different softwares used in conversion process... But thanks for the info and the effort to make the video.
This is so tedious to get a vector image with many layers. Also you pay for the adobe subscription. On top of all this you now have your file saved 3 times over. Working method just not efficient.
Shouldn’t be this ridiculously insane to just convert a jpg/etc to vector… Seriously… Same process as 30 years ago on my Power Mac…Even some of the Names are the same.😂

No wanting to pay a subscription. Anything you recommend for vector?

This is the best tutorial as i have been searching so far. Thank you.
I’ve watched hundreds of videos this is by far the best explanation ever!!! Tysm ❤️
Such a FANTASTIC trick to sketch on iPad xD

... Or, using Concepts instead of Procreate, Concepts immediately creates vector graphics and you can export SVG.

Thank you. I have text I’d like to change . Each letter alternative Color’s. I suppose I’d need to create a layer for each color ?
Hi, thank you so much for this wonderful video! Question: Is the final vector a merge of all 3 layers into one? Thanks in advance.
Thanks broo 👍... please make another Tutorial Again!!👍🎉
The corner alignment marks tip is ACE
Wow! So simple and concise explanation! 👍👏Thank you! 🙏
Does it work with textures and gradations? Or only solid colors and lines?
Need this badly
Adobe is new I’ll be sure to take a look at it!!! Thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot, this is a great tutorial.
Hi. You will need procreate as well as illustrator to vectorize a drawing in an ipad?
Could you use procreate and the Vectornator app to get it vectorized without getting Illustrator?
I followed all the steps but as soon as i save the images in layers format, it won't give me an option to save as SVG. How can I get over this hurtle?
Can you edit the paths after the fact ?
Super helpful. Thanks
great tutorial!
did you make any adjustments with the brush properties? or is it just the default? btw, this is helpful, great job
But if you don’t have a keyboard how do you copy and paste like that???
My png image doesn’t open correctly on adobe capture, I only see a couple of dots any ideas on how I can troubleshoot?
Adobe capture has a monthly subscription cost. Anything that I can pay outright and have same features? Thanks
How do you export the file afterward? And how do you view vector images on an iPad? Whenever I export it it looks blurry.
How do you save the image after finishing it in adobe illustrator?
Do i have to pay a subscription for adobe capture?
For all the people that want to know how to do this, those that ask countlessly in Facebook groups, I’ll share your link. Thanks.
do we need an internet connection to upgrade?
What color profile is the final image in? I noticed you used RGB in procreate did you change it in AI? Also, is the same result achieved when beginning with CMYK in procreate?
Is there anywhere to get a free or no subscription ai Programm?
Would this also work in affinity designer?
Yes! I just tried it and it works great :)

thank u
Why not save as psd? Honestly asking

@@moomoocowie97 is there a way to vector an image by uploading somewhere instead of having to break down the image into all these different layers?
@@JDMejBen vectornator has an image capture. It works best w clean black and whites/inks etc. it’s the closest thing you’ll find for what you want.
Im confusee when you copy it
Stilo I don’t get Who don’t you sketch directory in illustrator.
Why wouldn’t you just do it in illustrator right away if you have the app?
How can I do this without a keyboard??
Nvm I got it.
Why not make it in illustrator?
I am confused, why would you not just use Illustrator for the entire project
they are different, so use whichever you familiar with
For me personally, I prefer the UI for drawing on Procreate and don't get overwhelmed or lose focus like I do on Adobe programs.
