Had a close buddy form our crew take his life at 24, I still think about him 20 years later. That phone call at night was terrible, his parents were so unbelievably broken. Years later passing through my old hometown heading to Tahoe for the weekend with my 5-yr son at the time to do some snowboarding, I ran into his folks at the market, as a parent myself I could tell they never will recover. I am in my early 80's now like Louie :) jk but reach out to your homies often and ask how they are doing.
I am very happy to see what Louie is doing here. We need this, not only in skateboarding, but much more within businesses and companies as a whole. We're all emotional beings and behind our strong front and ego identity we all need love, support and connection, especially if we fall on hard times, mentally, emotionally or physically.
I suffer from adhd and bipolar disorder. I function put kid through college and married for 21 yrs. Everyday is different and for no reason I lose the drive to continue. I'm glad I have people that understand what I go through. Thanks Louie, much love!
I’m so glad Push created a channel. This! What Louie, Ben, and many other skaters go through, is the reason I created my channel. As a therapist who skates, I just want to make videos that can potentially help someone who is struggling, or give them the confidence to speak up about it.
Louie never stops to amaze me with his worldview. This is such a sweet thing to do. I'm wondering if there is also a barrier in having people even want to speak to a therapist in general. Sometimes people don't know they could benefit. It's almost like it would be great if team riders had an annual or biannual meeting set up with the mental health person regardless of whether they requested it or not. Just an informal 1 hour conversation, can't hurt for those who are doing well, but can be paramount for those who arnt. Sometimes just one convo will help get the ball rolling for someone that is stuck in the mindset of "toughing it out." Sadly, people that hold the attitude that they need "toughen up and get through things on their own" are more likely to have depression and are less likely to reach out for help. I lost one of my best friends two year ago, I remember I heard him crying in the patio outside our window one night (we lived together), I went and just hugged him and went back to bed as he didnt seem ready to talk right then. But the next day, he didnt want to talk about it and seemed embarrassed despite my efforts. We never talked about it and never will. People want to maintain a semblance of who they are in other other people's eyes, it shackles them but grounds them too. I think with these people, having a chat with a therapist be something that every rider has to do (even if just once a year), might make them less shielded when they go into that session. Just a thought. Thank you for all the good times and for shinning a light where others often dont! Let us know what brands we can support to help fund Push :)
Seeing the Jerry chocolate board on the wall made me cry! I always remember when I first say Jerry and Louie always loved them together one of the best duos, I got to tell Jerry I love him in person. Now I need to meet you Louie ❤
I've had the misfortune of being surrounded by this shit my whole life basically, lost 5 friends to it and been on the brink myself a few times. It's so stupid that we aren't able to really talk about it openly until someone you know is gone, but then again I don't blame anyone because it's a hard fucking topic to talk about and most people don't really know how to tackle it. It hurts to talk about, both for the people suffering and those around them. Crazy that a video about such a serious topic can make leave you with such a good feeling though, so thank you Louie and Josh for this one!
I have 3 close (not acquaintances) friends who took their own life during my 20’s & early 30’s (I’m 43 now) awareness is so crucial! 1/2 the battle is recognizing that & then a plan of action can take place…great video Lou! Subscribed to this channel now….❤️🩹
This is such an awesome concept, as someone who has struggled with ideation in the past and also lost a few good homies for the same reason, I fucking love that you're doing this. I've always been a huge fan, Louie! R.I.P. Ben, gone but never forgotten.
Listen Kids, Louies words and perspective on Skateboarding are true wisdom. Thx to such a unique and special Person in Skateboarding. This helps a lot. The most special thing in skateboarding, is the Fun you have with youre Friends. Listen to them, Support them, Help them out if needed and most importent give them the Love u want to youre Heart. Louie - Thx for youre Love to skateboarding ♥
Hey myself like many others have been affected by this. This is really amazing. I could tell you were a stand up guy from that season of KOTR and I instantly became a fan. This was an emotional watch for me but glad I tuned in. Hats off brother let’s make this catch on across the globe!
I love this. This is beautiful. I am and always be a skateboarder. The mind and how I/we see the world is incredible. I haven’t been on my skateboard for quite sometimes now but it’s still with me. It have had a great impact into my life as it goes on. It’s given me so much joy for years until it haven’t given me much joy. The low time happened and it took me a year to go see someone for help, I was about to explode then too. I just want to let everyone know that you’re not alone and if you’re feeling down, so down - I know how you feel. Surrounds yourself with good people, that you can have conversations with about anything, they’re are really important, loving and caring people you can have in life. Thank you Louie, this video will have long lasting impact. So thankful. Send a lot of love and hugs to all
been skateboarding alongside trying to maintain mental health for over 20 years.. have lost dear friends along the way as well.. one thing i can offer for people to consider is the help of mescaline containing cacti like san pedro and peyote, sounds far out but has done more for my and my wifes mental health than anything else ive ever tried, these plants are powerful teachers that can help. This is a great initiative hats off to all involved!! this is the community skateboarding is built on
Thank you Louie for what you've done & continue to do for the skateboarding community. This will definitely make a big impact worldwide & move things in the right direction for those who are need of help ❤ 🙏🏻
insightful video! I grew up skateboarding in the late 80s and all trough the 90s basically , now I am a "used to skate , now I drink beer" type of guy , skateboarding taught me a lot of things that are obvious to me, but not so obvious to people who never skated ... when everything goes wrong in "real life" back then that was school and your parents, in many ways, skateboarding was there for me many times over
And yeah mental health is something that seriously needs to be talked about more. I have hit rock bottom myself and I have never felt so alone, hopeless, and suicidal in my life and thats saying a lot since ive always struggled with it. If youre feeling the same way just know youre not alone.
I'm a skateboarder. I also am in recovery from substance use and mental health. I also work in recovery as a peer specialist and human resources for a nonprofit. Louie has been my favorite skater since 1999. Bonus: lot lizard and sensitivity the opening and closing songs in this are bangers I already had on repeat. I love this so fuckin much man.
Yo Louie, I'm a therapist, I'd love to be able to help in some way. But you can also be that person for your friends/fellow skaters/. I don't think it necessitates a mental health provider-people just need to love each other
Yes I; cause skateboarding is all about having fun... until the reality GOD comes knocking at your door! If you desire a good life, you shall not give it unto the skateGods. Jah is love let us all love
to me it looks staged, like the guy is walking where he was told to walk then do the clothesline. if it was a totally random person they would look a bit more erratic in my opinion. and it saying man down, was probably the point edit: i mean, no shit its staged. you were asking why even arrange for it, right; like what purpose did that scene serve?

Louie is the purest ambassador anyone can ask for
We need more people like Louie in this world. Real shit.

Louie is a special person. This hit home as I imagine it did with most skaters watching. Good to see good stuff happening in the world.

We miss you Ben ❤️.. and thank you so much Louie 🙏🙏
Wish this information was more prevalent when I was younger. Thank you guys for making this subject less taboo. I really miss my friends.
As a retired pharmacist still pushing at 62 I 1000% support this.

Great work Lou! Wishing you the best my man.
Louie is golden. So grateful for him.
I loved this soo hard!! Thanks for being the realest louie!❤
Louie, Marc, and Jerry will always be my favorite skaters. They really made it fun when everything was (and still is) getting way too serious.❤
And yeah mental health is something that seriously needs to be talked about more. I have hit rock bottom myself and I have never felt so alone, hopeless, and suicidal in my life and thats saying a lot since ive always struggled with it. If youre feeling the same way just know youre not alone.
thank you louie
10 years ago I suggested this to someone I knew who worked in the "action-sports" industry and was basically laughed at
Thanks for posting this. This is helping me to put together my own vision of a future for myself.

what on earth was the story behind the guy clothes lining him at 4:23??
to me it looks staged, like the guy is walking where he was told to walk then do the clothesline. if it was a totally random person they would look a bit more erratic in my opinion. and it saying man down, was probably the point

Wonder why he'd kick out a team mate for wanting to be sober.
Wtf all this time i thought that was his real hair!
It is his real hair. He had a bowl cut but also used a wig for a prop. 11:16 his real hair.
This guy is clearly under- carbed
rip enjoi skateboards a big loss in skate history
jacuzzi doin that bad, dam
Poor guy had to skateboard for a living
I bet you are a great listener.
