“Everyone wants to be an elk hunter, till it’s time to do some elk hunting chit!” Great job fellas, way to be patient and fill the freezer. Ready for the next adventure from you guys, these have become the hunting videos I can’t wait to watch every time one drops, you do such an amazing job capturing the hunt and the work it takes once the fun is done.
I've gone out scouting for elk, but never hunted them. We have the Roosevelt elk where I live. When I was hunting Black Tail deer many years ago I went over a small hill, and down in a small clearing by a river was a heard of bulls. Believe it or not there were 2- 7point, 2- 6point, 2- 5point, 2- 4point, a spike, a 5 point rag elk, and 1 cow! If it was elk season, and my wife and I had elk tags we could of shot the 7 points! It would of been an easy 100 yard pack up a small hill. I will never see that many big bulls again! I wish I would of had a camera to prove what we seen!
You got that right! And it's why a small percentage kill most of the Elk each year.

Nice job guys. I have hunted my whole life. I always dreamed of hunting in the Backcountry, Gritty style. My family never backpack hunted. I always had an urge to do it, but didn't have the gear or know how. I slowly acquired the gear and spent a few nights here in there, but didn't really know what I was doing. You guys have given me the know how and vision I needed. I have done some gritty style hunting now. It is hard to find partners, no one will hunt that way with me except my amazing wife, best hunting partner ever! All hunting is an adventure, but I really enjoy the added adventure this style brings. We are blessed from above to have the want, ability, and means to hunt this way 🙏! Thanks!

You, Lampers and a handful of others have had a huge impact on my life. I grew a successful business over 10 years in my late 20s - late 30s then found myself burnt out and not having much personal purpose. I was getting fatter by the year and out of shape spending more time in the office that I like. If it weren't for buying a bow and the influence of you guys I know my life and my family life would not be what it is. There are few representatives out there that display the true hunting tactics that I now find so rewarding in my life. The next time you have 130lbs. on take a step for me! Thanks ALL!
Most people wouldn't think of going out hunting as hard work, or of hunters as hard workers, but I'll bet they'd think different if they lit out with you boys. Glad to see your perseverance paid off. I've never been elk hunting, but I've ate some from friends and family, and it's worth the effort. Thanks for taking the time to break everything down at the end. It's always great.

That is a heavy pack! I helped my brother on a sheep hunt. He ended up with elevation sickness and I had to buck up and take a lot of weight from him. 120-130 pounds for 12 hours is no joke. Great work guys love the videos. The quality and stories are top notch, I can even get my wife to watch your hunts.

When I was a kid, I used to hate hunting and freezing. That's why when I discovered archery, I was all in. Got to hunt in warmer weather and at least at that time, very few other hunters! These cold weather hunts make me cold just watching.

I think I might ask Brian Call to make a "celebration of life" video for me for my funeral. These videos always have me tearing up at the end over people I've never met having adventures I wasn't a part of. You, sir, are a master of your craft.

Thank you John. I’m guilty of bad shots in my younger days. I was like many new hunters, I got overexcited and I choked. Thankfully, I rarely make shooting mistakes these days. I hope others can watch and learn from our films nowadays and save themselves from the same heartbreaks we suffered when we were young. Thanks for the support! 🙏🏼

When it's cold, and the air is dense and transmits sound better..... they will hear your snow footsteps from easily three hundred yards. And if they point their ears right at you, maybe five hundred or more yards. That's not even factoring in scent. I'm a human, but I have superhuman hearing ....and I figure they hear ten times better than me, and I can hear a mouse fart from a hundred yards. 😂
Your best bet is to run radios and leave a man on a spotting scope who can tell you when to move, and only move while they move. So their own sounds cover your footsteps. If they aren't walking or chewing, they hear you.
Twas the night before the hunt and o what a chill, I didn't sleep not even a spell, I awoke to more snow and hiked like hell, at last I saw him a legal bull, then I got in position and gave the weatherby a pull, and with one well placed shot the bull did fall........great job guys....love the content......Nate

Dear Gritty team, Brian and Ryan! Wanted to say how impressed and obsessed I am with Your films. Your videos have reached me, a Young man from the Baltics, who has never hunted a day in his life, but who has kept mother nature close all the time. We will never meet in person most likely but now that You guys were the reason for making me work for my own hunting licence and to step foot on my first hunt this spring.

Awesome video! Eli is an absolute beast. Sorry to hear about the freezer fiasco, I had a similar situation this year and lost 20-30 pounds of caribou and black bear. It’s a painful feeling to loose game meat. This hunt looks like a ton of fun.

And so here's my poem. There once was a man from nantucket. He would all ways go fishing and say fuck it. Because he never caught anything.But what he always thought. its not the fat sally's you put in the bucket. Its just getting out in the country and remembering time you had .

Great video as usual from you guys . It's awesome seeing the kids along on these hunts . I can remember how special it was as a kid to be included on really special hunts with my dad or grandpa. This is where awesome memories together in the woods come from ! Stay safe out there, and congratulations on creating another great memory out on another adventure together.
Another great video from Gritty. Any bull is a good bull especially when you need to fill the freezer, which is the name of the game. I know how cold it was, I was hunting during the same time period in MT and it was -21 (no wind chill) when I left the truck in search of the mighty wapiti.
Another great video! I was cold watching you guys crawling in the snow and waiting for so long. We had a few days like that this fall. Freezing cold watching elk all day. Cold, but a pretty fun day!

Your videos remind me of missions in Afghanistan where we had to pack a ton of gear, our pack outs were lighter though because we were out of water and had shot almost all of our several pounds worth of ammo. Y’all go hard, love it.
I showed a jiu jitsu of mine one of the spring bear episodes, he's never hunted before, and now he's as excited as I am to hit it hard this upcoming season! Thanks for the inspiration to get out on our own adventures!

Applying patience in your approach, glassing and shot set up to name just a few. You set a great example, and it’s an excellent reminder for myself as I must admit I’ve been guilty of not consistently prioritizing patience!

Glad to see a meat hunt. A beginning hunter might watch UA-cam and come to think it's all about shooting epically large animals in the top 10% class of their specie, rather than the essential truth of why hunting came to be, which is food for survival. And it's still a great experience. This pack kind of averages out some of those primo water-assisted pack outs in Alaska!
Thanks Brian! Glad you appreciated this one. At the end of the day, we hunt for sustenance. When the freezer is full, we hunt for more than just the food. But when the freezer is empty, you realize real quick how important this meat really is.
