I’m just now learning that James Cameron is a repeat copycat. He stole True Lies from this movie….AND, he stole the Terminator idea from Sophia Stewart (she lost the lawsuit because as you know, it’s impossible for normal people to win I court against major studios & corps.)
Claude Zidi sold the rights to James Cameron to do a remake. That's the Hollywood business plan: to buy successful foreign movies and readapt in the american way. Almost all american blockbusters (Marvel, superheroes apart) come from an existing movie abroad.
@@pawnoir his film may be a remake but the level of quality, ideas, execution and overall quality is about 500% better. The original film looks like a high school student project with a $5k budget. Hollywood does indeed often rip off European flicks but Cameron has made perhaps the best comedy/action film ever. None of the continental losers would ever would be able to make something as good as True Lies ( and I say that as a central European )
@@tanatonaut870 If you say so… Anyway I wasn't talking about this movie in particular because I saw none of those versions. I was referring to the concept of buying and replicating successful movies. Lately I came across Goodnight Mommy with Naomi Watts, yes another copycat. I could talk about hundreds of american remakes, almost 99% are trash.
So this was the original "True Lies" movie.
The husband almost looks like Fox Mulder.
Arnold saw this film and brought the tape of the film to James Cameron… ===> true lies
