This actually really looks good. The original is a super classic in the French speaking world, so I would be prejudiced, but I have to say from what I see here, the movie is treated with respect and the casting is spot on. Martin Short even conveys Pierre Richard's touching fragility. I'll watch it (never thought I'd say that)
Pierre Richard Gérard Depardieu👍
The movie is treated with respect because the same guy wrote and directed both movies. They were almost exactly the same movie.
Pierre Richard Gérard Depardieu👍
Para nada mejor los norteamericanos
It's hard to beat Martin Shorts passion, Nick Nolte was funny in this movie too even if he's not a comedian
Nolte is the straight guy!the guy pointing out the funny point in a non funny way!
NIck Nolte is a great actor, just watch him in angels has fallen.
That was Awesome ! Great editing on your part.
Great presentation... Did not know it was a remake
The American one is underrated, Martin Short is hilarious. When its the same director and jts almost shot for shot, it almost feels more like a different cast doing a play , don't know why the critics had a problem with them remaking it in English.
There is an Indian remake too called Eena Meena Deeka (1994) Go figure :)
if a remake had to made at least it was done right and the characters choosen were just right
Both brilliant!
The American version for me... the comedy... Martin short 👍
I’m surprised there’s not some of copyright case going on like when people rip someone else’s music off
Because the same guy wrote and directed both movies.
It's a remake, not a ripoff 🤦♂
Wow shamelessly copied and get away with it back in the days
It isn't "shamelessly copied" it's a re-make. Film makers, critics and audiences are well aware of this fact, it's not like they re-made it thinking they were getting away with it and calling it an original. Because it was a French film, it would have struggled to reach a wider audience outside of France or Europe, this re-make is simply allowing more people to see it, more than likely because they thought it was worth doing so.
Yes the original writers get more money so its win win for everyone, same with the 1994 movie True lies
Well, that's because the Director and Writer of both versions of "The (Three) Fugitives" it's the same, Francis Veber, that's why the two versions are too similar.
@@jamesdawson2393 Sorry my comment is 1 year late: Why couldn't it reach a wider audience, I wonder. In Russia we watched the French movies dubbed and they were very popular, especially with the great actors like Pierre Richard and Gerard Depardieu. Why couldn't Americans like a foreign movie? At least this one was well done. But "A blond man in one black shoe" wasn't done justice when it was remade with young Tom Hanks playing Pierre Richard's character. So it wasnt noticed in the US. But the original was a big hit in Russia.
@@Delifine it is what it is but yeah I also wondered for a long time...
I didn't know there was the US remake of this great movie. Gotta watch this for sure. But I think the original is a masterpiece
So this help me why three Fugitives (US) is different kind of comedy. (not an american standard) its because its from a different country. I really loved this movie. and now the french version...
Yeah I always thought the humor was a little unconventional. Now I know why. I personally find it hilarious.
It is a great shame that the original French version has never been available with English subtitles, I have looked everywhere.
So martin short did this and pure luck which is another French movie with these same actors
I never actually knew this was a remake.
Me neither
@@privateprivate1865 Pierre Richard Gérard Depardieu👍
Nick Nolte looks good as Gerard Depardieu. Тhey even look alike.
The fugitives in the movie in dvd is French. The fugitives in 1986 needs to be in the english subtitles in the dvd.
Ohh didn't know the US movie was a remake! That explains why it's SO good and yet never talked about it nowadays.
James Earl Jones using this hand speaker makes the warning even more Vader-like.
Pant-shitting guarantee...
I grew up watching Three Fugitives as a kid. I'm smiling because of how the French version and the American version has a humorous comparison.
I want to see the French version now, I can't believe how similar the 2 are. And I didn't realize that the French one was the one that was made first
@@alvexok5523 The same director/writer made both versions of the movie.
Martin Short with his ear sticking out...🤣😂😁 As much as I adore Pierre Richard, Short could bring a dead man to life with his delivery lol
日本ではフランス版はVHSで出たきりで、以降メディア化はされておりません。
アメリカ版ですらDVD止まりで悲しいです。。。😢
とても大好きな作品なので、この比較はとても嬉しいです🎵
Oui !!!! J'adore ce concept. Par contre là c'est tellement similaire, du bon copié/collé.
I used to watch this movie when I was little. One of my favorites. No doubt.
Me too. Martin short made me laugh so much. Nick Nolte was great too. My only issue is that the music didnt age well at all.
God I love this movie
Bollywood movie eena meena deeka
American Remake is the winner no doubt
Exactly! Its an accurate interpretation of law enforcement here in the United States. I hate our cops and our judicial system.
Italiano
Remakes siempre son los mejor
There's also a Filipino remake
Really?
Martin short was way funnier!
This is fucking hilarious
Me gustó el remake
Nick -my idol!❤
Ito Yun parang Kay vic sotto at Philip Salvador
Am not forget this film first I saw 2005 but now I found again to wacth
Martin Short was the only remake version of Paul Richard to warrant casting in another remake "Pure Luck"(1991), of "La Chevre".
*Pierre
US version has better acting. It's hard to beat Martin Short at touching comedy.
Even though the French version released first...I still prefer the US version
Me too
so obelix was in the fugitives
I have no idea whether there exist French version
2:18 This is probably why it was such a successful comedy, the French have never moved this quickly before, not without stopping for a 2-hour lunch first.
THe us remake was awful
Which came out first?
The french one of couse.
@@zorbeclegras5708 the Americans did it better though 😂 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@travelsphereuk-7090 The american one is made by the same man: Francis Veber. This is why for one time the remake is "not so bad". But watch the french version fully you could discover that it is better.
@@zorbeclegras5708 the facial expressions of the American actors are priceless.
@@travelsphereuk-7090 The play is rougher that must be what you like.
Since when do we take comedy cues from the french!?
long time
El americano es mejor
No 😂😂😂
Ma pauvre fille ,tu dis vraiment n importe quoi
why do Americans take back French films in exactly the same way? can't they make it themselves? 😮 😡
It's the same writer and director remaking it for an English-speaking audience, not some bunch of Americans shamelessly ripping off a French movie.
Yep ! I hope it's true. 😊
This is not always the case, even in the 20s or 30s some French or German films had simultaneous US versions and so on.
