Took the Emirates PE from DBX to Houston and had a comfortable albeit long 16 hour journey. Seat 38B was good, with impeccable service, and generous and delectable cuisine
The photo gift to you was so nice. You had the leg room there that I thought was nice. I know I look for good leg space in Premium Economy and I have upgraded to Business Class with points or paying in dollars.
If you stop over at Dubai . I guess ticket price even more. Coming June I paid 5220 for Sydney stop over Dubai to Barcelona and return from Milan and again stop over Dubai . Both way to n back from Dubai on premium and rest economy
I am torn between Qantas, Singapore Air and Emirates. SA is the cheapest when it comes to PE but Emirates does seem to offer more than the other two. Having flown to Peru, USA and India on economy and not really enjoying it I don't fancy UK to Oz in economy.
Personally, I’d go for Emirates or Singapore. (Personally a big fan of Singapore, the service is just so nice. Emirates is a bit of a hit and a miss depending on the crew I find. Has to do with their wide variety of nationalities I think. Price would be deciding factor I think ;) I agree, for years you are fine with economy, then suddenly for long haul you reach an age where you just feel like, enough is enough and you don’t want to put up with it anymore.
I am a terrible traveler with regard to lack of sleep and jet-lag and I noticed you said you got a solid 3.5 hours sleep in...just wondering whether you fall asleep easily on a flight in regular economy or whether premium economy made all the difference?
I would not have slept as well in economy. The little bit of extra recline in PE and the ability to elevate the feet a bit really helps me to nod off. I find putting a pillow under the ankles also helps.
I don't know how you booked P Economy. I have just looked up their site and if I wanted to go economy I was offered my flight from BKK to London I could have chosen several flights around 15 hours. If I wanted to go P/E the same thing turned into a 40-hour flight. N/B All flights were on their A380. no problem I have booked EVA Air non-stop.
No. This flight was in the first week they operated PE on that sector (MEL - Dubai), and it had only been on sale a short time. My flight from Sydney to Dubai in PE a few days earlier was completely full.
Thanks for watching Paul. Oman Air is usually around the $5,500 - $6,000 mark for MEL - MCT. They go either with MH or Thai. Not sure what you mean by penalties, but with Air India they put me up in the transit hotel when I missed a connection on the way to Oman. But with the normal 12 hour transit on the way home you have to pay for your own hotel if you want to sleep.
I am very interested in this product for future travel. We have always flown Emirates due to pricing always being the best for business class. Our next trip in BC will be in September NZ to Amsterdam return which may well be our last in that class so thank you for a great to the point review. I'm assuming the lounge access was due to your skywards membership or is it offered to Premium Economy travelers in Dubai?
I had lounge access as a Qantas Gold FF. The flights I took are codeshare between Emirates and Qantas, and in fact I actually bought my ticket through Qantas.
Looks like you get a little bit of Premium with your economy, but $5k is ludicrous. What was the business fare on the same flight? Personally if PE is more than 1.5x Y then it's better to stick with Y or look at J. If J is 2.5x Y then go crazy. Sorry for the algebra but it is what it is. Nice video :)
I think J was around $10k. I agree the Emirates prices for PE is extortionate. They are the only direct PE offering though from Australia to the Middle East ( I think), so that probably explains it.
I flew Singapore PE last year and they had reduced the meal service on some sectors. SQ give you economy food whereas Emirates give you a more generous meal served on proper crockery. I haven't flown Qantas PE post pandemic, but they used to be pretty good - although I like the emirates seat a bit better.
I've just returned from flying Singapore Airlines PE from Sydney to Amsterdam and return and I'd have to say I was disappointed. We had an A380 on the first leg and no problems but on the second leg we were on a A350 which had seat issues. On the return flight were on a A350 again and had more seat issues (one footrest wouldn't retract and the other wouldn't extend fully) and the many of the passengers in PE had entertainment system issues (we were given a credit for shopping or towards another flight), and on the final leg were on a 777 which I had monitor issues but I could get the system to work using the handheld device. Staff were apologetic and said the planes were old and would be retired soon, but for the money we paid to upgrade from economy it was not good enough. I will not fly Singapore Airlines again unless on an A380.
I'm not sure - I've never asked! I suspect they will give you a second main if you ask and they have availability. Only after everyone else has been served of course.
It was the same amount of recline as all the other rows. Only disadvantage to the last row is that you may hear more noise from the crew in the galley behind - but I didn't really notice much.
Tip for anyone flying premium economy - try and get the front seats as the leg room is almost twice as much as anyone else. Only problem is the headphone cable doesn’t reach your head when the seat is fully reclined, as you’re so far away from the screen.

Great review - factual and informative. Thank you
I enjoy your pacing and editing. Simple, direct, no fluff. Thanks heaps ❤
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your experience, now I will take my flight to Sydney with more information.
Good report, very enjoyable 👍🏼. You made me hungry though 😆😆
I Like The Emirates Premium Economy Best In Industri My Opinion.Great Trip Report
Nice video. I'll be flying JFK to BKK on Emirates business class in a few months. Will contrast it to their PE class.
Great review mate.Very thorough and enjoyable to watch. 5K seems a bit steep though especially how quiet the return leg looked!
Yeah, hope it becomes a bit more reasonable going forward. Thanks for watching.
great review! new 380 cabin is more stylish and than previous !!
Sure is! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing your trip.
That was really nice you had no one seating beside you. So, you had more space for your self on a long-haul trip. Nice!!!
The photo gift to you was so nice. You had the leg room there that I thought was nice. I know I look for good leg space in Premium Economy and I have upgraded to Business Class with points or paying in dollars.
Thanks for the PE review James. It seems to be a great product but horribly priced. I might have to try it on the Syd to CHC route. Stephen ✈️

You’d be mad going on Qantas

There are nowhere near as many PE seats as there are Economy so the best flights will book out first!
Thank you for well explained vlog , i ve noticed that seats are empty ! Is it usually like that for the p/ e?
No. This flight was in the first week they operated PE on that sector (MEL - Dubai), and it had only been on sale a short time. My flight from Sydney to Dubai in PE a few days earlier was completely full.
Great review as always. How much would Oman Air / Malaysian in business cost? Are there lay over time penalties?

you are lucky bro
Great review. Thank you.
I hear Singapore PE is downhill lately. Thoughts?
How does Emirates PE compare to Singapore and Quantas PE?
Thanks

Are you allowed to have both mains or only allowed to choose one?
I'm not sure - I've never asked! I suspect they will give you a second main if you ask and they have availability. Only after everyone else has been served of course.
Hi, was the recline of the seats in the back obstructed or the same as other seats in premium economy? Thanks.

Any thoughts on Qatar economy?
I haven't flown Qatar economy - but I have a Qatar Business flight coming up in a few months. Thanks for watching.
