Tokyo looks fantastic; the market looked amazing, and the footage of Ginza and Shibuya is great. That hotel room was really cool! The shopping trip was a nice touch- I didn't realize Abercrombie is still in business. They closed in Amsterdam. This makes me want to visit Tokyo again!
omg I wish The Wing Cabana (ones with bathtubs) do face the tarmac, that'd be amazing hahaha. I am steering away from CX's vegetarian unless I know on that particular flight, they are offering that with a well-known chef haha. Abercrombie is definitely getting smaller. Only one shop in HK. Cathay Pacific is the often airline which i flew in during 2024. It's really memorable exprerience transiting in HKG especially visiting the SkyBridge one.
Great to get a comprehensive look at the new Cathay PE product. It certainly is a major step-up from the previous offering, seat recline button aside. I think Cathay now has one of the best PE offerings available. Thanks for posting Jayden.

Ah, B-KPF. I've flown on her twice already - once in 2009, when it had the dreaded herringbone Business Class and the non-reclining Economy class seats. It was painted in the Asia's World City livery back then. My second time was in 2018, when it had the (just superseded) Business Class product. But these new refurbishments make it almost unrecognisable. It looks so much better than before.

Both J and PE look such an improvement on the old 773er products. I haven’t flown CX since 2020, but was very disappointed with the 777 PE hard product (soft was fine). J was fine back then (I had both excellent and very average service on different sectors) but those new seats look even better. I may go with CX to Germany later this year, especially with MUC coming back.
So glad PE finally got an update on the 777. The old PE was introduced 14 years old ago! So happy that they announced MUC, loved my visit to MUC last November and am keen to return soon
Def one if not the best premium economy seat I have ever seen then again SQ is coming up with a new pe and business class seat later this year ...but I doubt their pe can beat this though ❤

Nice flight on the plane with that "new car smell". I have a little tree air freshener hanging in my 39 year old truck. It is scented with "new car smell" scent but it hasn't fooled anyone. 😂 The food in Tokyo looked exceptionally good to me. I really would like a lounge, maybe in Hong Kong to be named "The Golden Coat Huke", to acknowledge your superior flight review channel. I flew Hong Kong to Sydney on Cathay premium economy and quite honestly this was one of the worst flights that I’ve ever flown. Whilst this is a generally a really good product, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re short or have short legs. Let me explain. I am quite tall for a female but in proportion to my upper body my legs are really short. I booked premium economy seats thinking that it would be more comfortable for me on an overnight flight as the seats recline a lot more than normal economy and it had leg rests/foot rests making the seats similar to a comfy recliner. The problem is, as I soon discovered, it is that it is not short people/ people with short legs friendly. With the leg rest extended, my feet could not reach the foot rest and resulted in my feet being stuck between the leg rest and the seat in front. I could not move my feet at all with the leg rest extended. To make matters worse, I usually like to sleep with my head resting on the back of the seat in front. Because of the extra room, I couldn’t reach the seat in front but there wasn’t enough room for me to rest with my head down on the foldout table either. Food was great and service was excellent but I would have been much more comfortable in normal economy. It’s business or nothing for me now. I know it’s a “me” problem but it’s something that you should consider if you are short or have short legs. Save your money and shell out for business instead You’ll be so much more comfortable.
Props to them for improving the camera. One question - is this leg rest setup better than the 350 with the footrest that extends? I had the opportunity to try the PEY on the 350 on a free upgrade - and the leg rest that flips out is really comfortable in my opinion (except that the plastic extending rails felt a little bit rough on the edges on the 359).
IMO it’s a lot better than the 350 leg rest/footrest combination. I have big feet and with the A350 footrest, there’s no space for my feet and my toes with be touching the seat in front😂
Those planes are flying to London only now :) they did short haul for a few months for crew familiarisation and to see if everything is ok. They were broken doors and stuff when it began flying.
Finally! Great to see the new premium economy on the 777-300ERs! Jayden, do you know if Cathay will utilise these planes from Australia to HK? Flew CX last October and it was honestly very impressive. Staff were kind and the food was delicious - there was so much! Now I'm looking to balance CX and SQ flights! Haha. Thanks for the video :)
Hi there! Cathay only has two of these refurbished 777 and they are flying to London only. Singapore, Osaka, Tokyo every now and then. I would imagine when they refurbish more, they’ll fly them to North America first before Australia. Similar to the introduction of A350 ten years ago.
Hi Jayden, enjoyed your video. I was in Tokyo from late December till mid January. Interesting that you commented on a previous experience of a long wait in immigration at Haneda. Japan has recently introduced an online entry form for immigration with passport and personal details. You would think this would speed up the process at entry to Japan. My flight from Singapore arrived first thing in the morning and there was a room full of long snaking lines. It was a very, very long wait, which was really frustrating. My partner is a Japanese, and he was processed in a matter of minutes. Plus, not all immigration counters were manned. I was annoyed so commented on this at the counter when I finally got there and was told that several flights arrived earlier than expected. Afte4 leaving Haneda in mid January, we flew to Changi and prior to arrival, completed an online immigration form similar to what is required y Japan. Everything is automated at. Hangi, and we were processed in a matter of minutes. Grumble grumble, Haneda! Looking forward to more if your videos this year!
it was my first time taking off from that runway since years!! And today again as I flew to Qingdao China. Very different view of HK from that takeoff pattern

The new Y+ looks great! Recently flew on the Cirrus III J seats on Cathay and also felt extremely comfortable but I'm sure the Aria Suites would be great too. Also, just go bald (voluntarily) like me and you'll never have to worry about a bad hair day ever again! 😂

haha there’s only two planes with Aria so it’s not easy to get on one unless you’re super flexible. Worse they could swap them to a plane with old J last minute. I only had the opportunity because mum and I were actually planning a Tokyo trip 😆
I wonder what seat model Cathay uses this time. Looks like Safran Z600, but I can be wrong. Anyway CX's new cabin definitely looks sharp. Hopefully they can also improve their soft products as well!

Aerolopa is usually quick...but Aerolopa can sometimes be inaccurate (e.g. they mentioned Scoot's A320neo seats as Recaro SL3510 when they're actually BL3530 and BL3710, then they forgot that some of CX's 777 feature Recaro CL3710 seats)

Business Class meanwhile is the Collins Elevation seats, same as the one MAS used on their latest A330neos. Jayden what are your thoughts on singapore airlines economy product? I haven't flown in them in 2 years, but I recently took a flight from SFO to SIN a few days ago. Kinda disappointed with their economy product because the seats and IFE look downgraded plus the cabin crew forgot our special muslim meal which we pre booked before the flight (they forgot on both round trips). Anyways, Cathay's premium economy looks really good.

What was in those boxes that made the overhead bin drop down, twice? GOLD?. And those buttons to recline the seats. Unacceptable! Did no one try them to see if they worked smoothly. Hi Philip! Probably bags full of headphones or other small equipment. It was for crew only but not crew personal bags. The buttons might eventually ‘smooth out’ but still not ideal right now.
Amazing. While some features on this premium economy may not be better then SQ, I totally agree with your verdicts! I still say bith are good. I recently flew SQ last week on the 23 and 24th. I flew the A350-900 regional from Manila to Singapore. I had a 7 hour layover and then flew SQ231 on an a380 to Sydney. Still love your videos❤❤🎉🎉
2:06 looks like this Lounge is much better than the business class section of the pier Lounge which I want 19 years ago with my father had he been a Diamond status I would have been able to go inside this Lounge in the older configuration. 5:20 Same seats as Starlux A350-900 Business and First Class and if you have to choose between them and Q suite which one will you put on top you should also try economy class section. Because CX will throw in Aria Suite planes on HKG-TPE/HKG-MNL. Impressive trip overall and in terms of one world Alliance services on Hong Kong to Tokyo NRT (成田国際空港) & HND which one would you put on top between CX and JL? Happy Chinese New Year to you 5:50 in previous comments you have in Chinese text both traditional and simplified they're telling you to take Eva Air 长荣 big rival to Cathay Pacific 国泰. Does it also come with alternating current plugs
Definitely an upgrade compared to what’s already an amazing business class lounge. CX and JAL are as good. In economy probably more comfortable on JAL if you get the Sky Wider seats but limited to one choice of meal.
Why do you fly the Cathay Pacific 777 premium economy instead of the Greater bay airlines 737 economy on a short flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo Narita?
For me, Service is number one, then product. Based on my experience CX need to fix and improve their service, compare with SQ service is away far from excellence. SQ is still the best in term of service; ground and onboard.
Hi, I just flew BC, Madrid - HK- TKY- HK- Madrid two days ago. Unfortunately, the soft product I rate at 4/10 and the hard at 7/10. The food was dreadful, and the service was noisy and disjointed. However, the lounges are good. CX, please ask your staff to work in silence and not talk about operational procedures, slam doors and be more proactive. Please look to Starlux, ANA and JAL standards for BC and First. Sorry to say, I won't be back.

I always wanted to try the Aria Suite but the aircraft never meet my schedule.
Also 2 Broke Girls is such an easy and comforting show to watch while in the air.
haha there’s only two planes with Aria so it’s not easy to get on one unless you’re super flexible. Worse they could swap them to a plane with old J last minute. I only had the opportunity because mum and I were actually planning a Tokyo trip 😆

Soft products are definitely improving (finally). The meals (main) we got were from business class.
Most likely Cathay went for the ZIM ZP450 seats, thanks to Cathay's strong ties with HAECO and ZIM acquiring HAECO's Cabin & Seating division.
@l4zr_boy : Maybe. I'm not sure what they use in Economy and Business too. Aerolopa is usually quick...but Aerolopa can sometimes be inaccurate (e.g. they mentioned Scoot's A320neo seats as Recaro SL3510 when they're actually BL3530 and BL3710, then they forgot that some of CX's 777 feature Recaro CL3710 seats)
@@LoneStarFlightReviews Economy is the same CL3710 on the previous cabin version, just refreshed. Business Class meanwhile is the Collins Elevation seats, same as the one MAS used on their latest A330neos. Tbh the world of Aircraft Seating is surprisingly obfuscated, you don't really know which is which unless if you dig really deep or talk to someone who's in the industry.

Jayden what are your thoughts on singapore airlines economy product? I haven't flown in them in 2 years, but I recently took a flight from SFO to SIN a few days ago. Kinda disappointed with their economy product because the seats and IFE look downgraded plus the cabin crew forgot our special muslim meal which we pre booked before the flight (they forgot on both round trips).
Anyways, Cathay's premium economy looks really good.

What was in those boxes that made the overhead bin drop down, twice? GOLD?. And those buttons to recline the seats. Unacceptable! Did no one try them to see if they worked smoothly. First world problems i know. Older travellers could not work them without hurting their hands. Me too. Anyway, lovely trip report.🎉
Hi Philip! Probably bags full of headphones or other small equipment. It was for crew only but not crew personal bags. The buttons might eventually ‘smooth out’ but still not ideal right now.

Amazing. While some features on this premium economy may not be better then SQ, I totally agree with your verdicts! I still say bith are good. I recently flew SQ last week on the 23 and 24th. I flew the A350-900 regional from Manila to Singapore. I had a 7 hour layover and then flew SQ231 on an a380 to Sydney. Still love your videos❤❤🎉🎉

2:06 looks like this Lounge is much better than the business class section of the pier Lounge which I want 19 years ago with my father had he been a Diamond status I would have been able to go inside this Lounge in the older configuration. 5:20 Same seats as Starlux A350-900 Business and First Class and if you have to choose between them and Q suite which one will you put on top you should also try economy class section. Because CX will throw in Aria Suite planes on HKG-TPE/HKG-MNL. Impressive trip overall and in terms of one world Alliance services on Hong Kong to Tokyo NRT (成田国際空港) & HND which one would you put on top between CX and JL?

Definitely an upgrade compared to what’s already an amazing business class lounge. CX and JAL are as good. In economy probably more comfortable on JAL if you get the Sky Wider seats but limited to one choice of meal.

For me, Service is number one, then product. Based on my experience CX need to fix and improve their service, compare with SQ service is away far from excellence. SQ is still the best in term of service; ground and onboard.

Hi, I just flew BC, Madrid - HK- TKY- HK- Madrid two days ago. Unfortunately, the soft product I rate at 4/10 and the hard at 7/10. The food was dreadful, and the service was noisy and disjointed. However, the lounges are good. CX, please ask your staff to work in silence and not talk about operational procedures, slam doors and be more proactive. Please look to Starlux, ANA and JAL standards for BC and First. Sorry to say, I won't be back.
Cathay new A321 neo is bad, there's barely any legroom, their old A330 had much better legroom.
yes I avoid them in economy unless I get bulkhead haha.
