Flying QANTAS A380: Should You Upgrade to Premium Economy MEL to LAX?

- Yelana and I struggled to click the button when booking these flights. Premium economy is 2-3x the price of economy and we didn't know if it would be worth the extra money.
So, we decided to film the whole thing so you can come on the ride with us and see if premium economy is worth the cost in 2024.

Well done guys !!!!!! Love this honest review !!
Thanks, we really appreciate it!
So good we can still see you guys when we miss you.
Great job! Sharp editing too, which I know is a pain, but we appreciate it! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks so much for the kind comment and sorry it took me so long to reply!
Yaaaay for more videos.
They’re back!
Great honest review! Just discovered your channel.
Thanks, more to come for sure!
PE is a good compromise between Business &Economy. I’m going to Florida in July. SYD-DFW-MCO. I managed to snag Business class on sale, and the return flights in Business the whole way… only a couple of hundred more expensive than the most expensive PE option. Did you work out the trick with the pillows in PE? There is a long slit across the back of the pillowcase. This allows you to slide the pillow over those winged headrests, so your pillow won’t fall down but it will bend with the headrest. Also, the aisle seat in PE… the wall can drop down so you can turn your legs and put your feet into the aisle when you go to stand up. It makes getting up easier, and you don’t need to ‘pull’ on the seat in front as you do.
Man business class for that trip will be amazing!! I'm going to try to get an upgrade on the way home but I think it's out of our price range.
Great tip with the pillow! I'll definitely give it a try!
Thanks so much!
@@Justin-Castles This is the first time I have paid for Business Class. Previously, I had enough Qantas Frequent Flyer Points to be able to request the upgrade & not need to pay. The bonus though of paying for my two return trips is the number of status points I will earn (the 2nd trip was not only at a cheap price, but earns double Status Credits). I should be Platinum when I come home the 2nd trip. That means being able to use the 1st Class Lounge when I fly next year… bonus,
Great review guys, the food looked ok, but not great. I look forward to your next adventure. Cheers
Thanks! The food wasn't great, just better than economy haha!
I'd love to see you do a review of a propper business class seat. enjoyed this review too. We fly PE with BA regularly and have Business booked for later in the year, we regularly fly to the same places, so it will be interesting to compare. Here in the UK if you fly from remote airports you don't pay any of the taxes you would pay from london or edinburgh, so the tax savings make the upgrades free lol 3k$au is a fair belt, but it was 14 hours and thats a long time to be squished in economy. 3k Au$ is about £1500 return and thats cheap from a UK perspective on a 14 hour flight. MEl to LHR is $1800AUS one way
We would LOVE to review business class, unfortunately it's a bit out of our price range but when we finally get there we will make a video for sure!
Enjoy your trip later this year, make a video and show us what it's like!
I Like The Product Premium Economy.Great Video And Info
Thanks for watching, we really enjoyed premium economy and will be trying it out on other airlines in the future.
Nice video. FYI, the reason there are no bins on the side of your seat is because there is a plugged door at that seat. It’s actually a door they no longer need to use with the new lay out do that cover it and add a row of seats. Check out pics of the A380 and you’ll see.
Haha I thought they just had to taper the cabin or something, super interesting that there is a plugged door! Thanks so much for the comment!
Enjoy your holiday
Real cutlery?! I’d be happy to eat with my fingers if it meant that I’d be able to sleep for part of the 13 hour flight.
Haha very true!
How was the recline on the seats? Same as economy? Also make sure you go to Zion N.P.
Sorry for the delayed reply, we did go to Zion. It was amazing!!!
The recline of the seats is noticeably more than economy, we didn't even feel the need to recline until we were ready to try to sleep.
Playa del Carmen and Cancun is not that great. It’s very touristy, very expensive and the beaches are just ok. Go to Merida in yucatan. Easy to get to from Cancun if your flights are from there. In Merida there are some great Mayan ruins that are not touristy. And quiet cenotes. It’s a really nice town. Oaxaca is also amazing. Food is great in Oaxaca. Cool art scene also. We just got back. Also flew premium on the airbus. Have a great time!
Sorry for the delayed reply! Really appreciate your insight. After speaking to more locals they have given similar advice to you, next time we will be adding these areas to our plans. Thanks!
Why is the cutlery so cold? Do they store them in the freezer?
That's an interesting question, I'll ask the cabin staff on the way home!
Don’t get those white shoes dirty Yelana!
They are filthy now!
shit.....im eating a 16oz rib eye whilst viewing this, I need to clip back to the last point I understand where the video is going. I'm distracted by food seeing it's the first in 24 hours,,,,,wouldn't you be? ,SEEING IT THE FIRST IN 24 HOURDsine this is the first meal in 23?24 hours
