What an amazing instrument and I'm not going to say what a sad story because we don't know what would have happened with that boy going out on the road with his band in 1912, but I can say that it is a very close story that has been repeated thousands of times throughout the 20th century. Mine was in the 80s when I had to do mandatory military service and after that it was the same story, my father told me that I had to help my family in the best possible way and making money of a dream it was just that, a dream . It's interesting to see the arm of the pickguard made entirely of Tortoise -Shell , we call it Carey in spanish bc the Hawksbill tortoise is called Carey tortoise
Great story to have documented with the L-4. I hope it does end up in a secure collection or a museum. Seems like it was the embodiment of the original owners dreams.
Ummm, the Gibson L4 has had a replacement tailpiecemade in wood (the originals had a celluloid one that often disintegrated), the bridge is a replacement and the pickguard seems to be missing one clamp so I would guess it has had a bit of history but it is still a wonderful bit of guitar legend. Can you possibly give the serial number?
I love your videos guys and I agree about that 113 year old L4, they could go for a lot more money considering their age and story! I think my favorite today was the SRV strat or hotrod tele!
@@GHguitarauctions I have a UK made VOX bass which is the same as yours. They did move production to Italy, however the first ones were made in the UK. You can tell by the truss rods on the UK ones are flush with the heal at the base of the neck. Whereas the Italian ones the truss rod nut sticks out..The UK ones are more valuable as they are rarer...hope that helps.

Same story even now. I had the same in my late teens. In some ways I’m glad as I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now otherwise! 🙂👍
Oooh, that Gibbo arch top at the end. Gorgeous.
It is 😃👍

Hopefully it will be carefully played and enjoyed 🙂
Iron Maiden strat for me. HIgh output, Floyd-Rose and a free mirror. Five Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent choice. Great quality guitar. Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Superb. Huge thnx
Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Super to start with that wonderful Red Star bass!
It’s a beast of a bass!
Haven't seen you lust for a guitar like that in a long time mate.
Great video as always Luke & Chris. The way Luke was eyeing up that black SG Junior, I'd be surprised if it makes it to the auction 😀
Class show thanks.
Thank you 🙂👍
Excellent, Luke!
Thank you 🙂👍
Nice, very nice!.

The hot-rod tele is particularly nice! Thanks for watching 🙂👍
@@GHguitarauctions yes it was and my pleasure!
Just for once can't we have a lefty De Pergo and a righty Warlock..... :o(
Should possibly be March 2025 guitar auction, not 2024, I could be wrong.
Yep! Still can’t accept it’s 2025 😅
I like everything I don't own.
What you couldn't strum that Gibson L4 even once? 🙄
Not allowed 🚫.....😂
I thought these things were supposed to go in glass cabinets on not get played?! 😉
@ Is that a polite way of saying it sounds like a bag of spanners? 😂
Fender has not owned Guild for around 10yrs. From 2014 until 2023 it was owned by Cordoba. Yamaha now own Cordoba and Guild.
Why does *”The Gibson”* sound so intimidating
It does! 😅
UK made VOX bass not Italian made.
I’m pretty sure production shifted to Italy in 1966. This bass is from roughly 1968. 👍
