I remember watching this few months ago when I was just starting out with my guitar and I almost gave up because I couldn't change chords easily and it takes me a while to do it. Now watching this video again made me realize that it takes practice to improve in guitar and it's not impossible. It took me months by practicing everyday. I'm still a beginner but I was getting better at it and faster than I thought. Don't give up and practice at your own pace and remember have fun playing it.
Very inspirational words - thanks for sharing! I am just beginning myself and this kind of encouragement is helpful!
Update?
Thanks. This is encouraging.
Thanks you for the nice advise to beginner like me God bless you.
Hi Nate, I have been trying to learn to play the guitar, (I would love to play in the clasical style,) on my own. I am 72 years of age and have been teaching myself to play the guitar for a couple of years now. I should also say I am left handed. Now I have had the chance to look at your free lessons, I have to say that I have found them to be very interesting and, in the main, easy to understand. I have a couple of things I am not 100% shure about but these problems will come to me in time. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and putting in the effort to make these lessons happen. They are the best present I could wish to have. I am very grateful to be able to find someone who does not try to make the learning harder than it needs to be. John.
I"m a left-handed 58 year old trying to learn. I'm a drummer and don't read a bit of music so it's an uphill battle but I"m going to keep at it. My fingers hurt!
@@instanding9528 well that took a dark turn 😂😂
John Jackson how’s your playing going?
Are you guys still alive?

This kind of thing is so odd, how muscle memory just sets in eventually. When I first learned ukulele, the G chord was such a nuisance. Now I can change between chords with my eyes closed.
NeonLights how long did it take for that to kick in
Eric Follendorf a few months
I just picked up the ukulele last week and you're so right about the G chord! Em is tough for me to switch to, as well.
Thank you, Venus. I needed that. Learning guitar for 1 month now and it feels as if I'll never learn to do my cords smoothly, let alone switch between them. Using a mirror, and I feel I can't play without it, lol. Thanks again, I trust muscle memory will kick in eventually for me too. I have hope.
Yep, I was the same way w/ the G on guitar. I didn't think I'd ever get it. In my experience you go from seeing little improvements, to not realizing you are improving and getting frustrated to all of a sudden, "wow, I'm getting it" and finally, "I forgot how hard that was" hah
a good song to practice the exact chords mentioned in this video is "Hotel Yorba" by the White Stripes. Its a simple song and the chord progression is G-C-D-G for the whole thing. cheers
All of Nate lessons are the best Tom Knight

I've seen so many tutorials on guitar and Mr. Savage definitely lives up to his name =P
This is by far the best instructional source for guitar on UA-cam that I've encountered so far.
Thank you.
This is one of most helpful series I have found on UA-cam an absolutely fantastic companion to my weekly lessons. Thank you!
This is such a great lesson! Thank you so much. I love how you broke it down to smaller steps to make it feel easily achievable! Thank you! 🙏🏽🤘🏽
I've been trying switching chords for a few days and your video really helped me out!! Thank you Nate!!
Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼 I’m a beginner and your tutorials have helped me get through the frustrations and progress forward 👍🏼
Even after 8 years this jam session has given me hope. Literally the best tutorial video for chord switching.❤️
Hello Nate I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, your videos are great help for me. I have learned a lot from your lessons on UA-cam. You have a simple teaching method, in simple language, which every body could pick up easily. You have taught things which other guitar teachers generally miss out. Keep it up brother. Thank you ..
For awhile I skimmed through a lot of guitar channels, but I always ended up coming back here. You've got a really no BS approach to teaching that really works for me. No fluff, straight to the point, while still being entertaining.
Thanks for this lesson Nate! I've now been able to play more songs, even ones that I don't know. All my chord changes also are efficient. I hope you post more goods soon!
After playing along with the Jam track I Finally feel like I've heard music from my Guitar for the first time in months. Thank you
thank you so much! this is really helpful! i can already see myself improving- not just in changing chords either. the elbow thing was really useful!

How the heck are you doing a G chord using your pinky? My fingers don't bend like that.
Thats what I said 6 months ago, keep trying it will come
Look up essential hand stretches for guitarists. The video helped me use my pinky finger and ring finger while playing cords.
Abe Unger I

Thanks, Nate, for a great video about cord changes. I am left handed and find I am a little slow in my changes but now I have seen this video I am going to try what you suggest.
Had a guitar lesson for 2 months about 5 years ago, stopped getting it because the guitar broke (it's an old 1980s guitar) and lost interest in it. Just got it fixed. See the whole Beginner Guitar Lesson from Guitareo, made more progress in a week than 2 months 5 years ago. Can't wait to see how far I'll go in a year. Thanks for the lessons!
Awesome tips, seeing super quick improvements and it feels great! Thanks :)
This is excellent. you are an excellent teacher. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much..I will keep on practising those 3chords...Its helpful as a beginner ( self train)
Hi Nate, I am a beginner. Got my brand new Taylor 214 ce today! So excited to play it. Thank you for the video, it will help me a lot!
I've made more progress in the last 5 days, than I had in the last 6-7 months.. Many thanks
I really like that you give a practice track at the end to play along to
Thanks for this video. I am new and having trouble changing chords with speed.
This was great. Thank You. I will need a lot of practice to master this, but i believe i will eventually get it.
Thanks this helped me a lot I started in January and I was thinking of giving guitar up bu t this video really helped me thanks
Lots of great information in this video, and I've just discovered I've been positioning my left hand incorrectly. I thought my fingers were too short for some challenging chords, they weren't. Thank you!
I've been playing bass for about 10 years, and just picked up my first 6-string acoustic guitar. It's a whole new world. I'm looking forward to expanding my musical/instrumental horizons! Thanks for the awesome vids.
+Yieldman You're welcome. :)
Thank you so much for the advice! Its very obvious that you really want to help us less experienced guitar players to be better, and thats really what made this video feel so encouraging. Thanks a lot for the resources you provide. =)
Great lesson. Thank you 🙏.
Thank you for a very informative and practical lesson. A rank beginner at 77 years of age and your tips here have already increased my interest as the chords become recognisable in a progression. Stay safe and keep well.

Nate, you are awesome. Your lessons are helping me so much. I am learning guitar just with the help of these tutorials.
Thanks. That's awesome!
Nate u have been such a great help to me learning guitar
Thank You Nate Savage for doing this....My husband Doug was the worship leaders at our church. Doug was an exceptional rhythm player and I strummed (unplugged) behind him because I can sing and I was usually learning something. He passed away from Covid in January and I became our church's only option for music. He was always buying me instruments Dobro, Mando, Banjo, a giant stand up bass, which we experimented with through the years. When he passed on I was on the Ukulele.
Have great rhythm, but Doug used to say I had weird strumming pattern. So many times he tried to show me....so many times I just wanted to get practice over with and onto whatever thing I thought was important at the moment.. What a hard lesson.. This has been a blessing to me. Thank you again and God Bless You.
go to the top of the tutors you are a star!! thanksxxx

You're a great teacher. I wish I'd found you sooner. The "234" g shape makes it so much easier in transition to other chords. THANK YOU!!!!
Great! You're welcome. :)
See, I know that 234 makes some transitions easier, but I just can't do it without accidentally touching the A string
I was getting so frustrated trying to switch and play G major before watching this, thank you so much you techniques are so helpful
