I remember watching this few months ago when I was just starting out with my guitar and I almost gave up because I couldn't change chords easily and it takes me a while to do it. Now watching this video again made me realize that it takes practice to improve in guitar and it's not impossible. It took me months by practicing everyday. I'm still a beginner but I was getting better at it and faster than I thought. Don't give up and practice at your own pace and remember have fun playing it.

Hi Nate, I have been trying to learn to play the guitar, (I would love to play in the clasical style,) on my own. I am 72 years of age and have been teaching myself to play the guitar for a couple of years now. I should also say I am left handed. Now I have had the chance to look at your free lessons, I have to say that I have found them to be very interesting and, in the main, easy to understand. I have a couple of things I am not 100% shure about but these problems will come to me in time. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and putting in the effort to make these lessons happen. They are the best present I could wish to have. I am very grateful to be able to find someone who does not try to make the learning harder than it needs to be. John.

This kind of thing is so odd, how muscle memory just sets in eventually. When I first learned ukulele, the G chord was such a nuisance. Now I can change between chords with my eyes closed.

Thank you, Venus. I needed that. Learning guitar for 1 month now and it feels as if I'll never learn to do my cords smoothly, let alone switch between them. Using a mirror, and I feel I can't play without it, lol. Thanks again, I trust muscle memory will kick in eventually for me too. I have hope.

Yep, I was the same way w/ the G on guitar. I didn't think I'd ever get it. In my experience you go from seeing little improvements, to not realizing you are improving and getting frustrated to all of a sudden, "wow, I'm getting it" and finally, "I forgot how hard that was" hah

Thank You Nate Savage for doing this....My husband Doug was the worship leaders at our church. Doug was an exceptional rhythm player and I strummed (unplugged) behind him because I can sing and I was usually learning something. He passed away from Covid in January and I became our church's only option for music. He was always buying me instruments Dobro, Mando, Banjo, a giant stand up bass, which we experimented with through the years. When he passed on I was on the Ukulele.
Have great rhythm, but Doug used to say I had weird strumming pattern. So many times he tried to show me....so many times I just wanted to get practice over with and onto whatever thing I thought was important at the moment.. What a hard lesson.. This has been a blessing to me. Thank you again and God Bless You.
