Yamaha R15 V3 Carbon Fibre Wrap In India: Here's How I Did It
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2018
- When I bought the 2018 Yamaha R15 V3, the goal was simple. Ride it on the race track, gain enough skills and apply them to my bigger bike. Little did I know that I would fall in love with this mini-supersports package so much that I would end up customising it to this extent.
I have made a lot of mechanical upgrades to it already (documented as videos on this channel), and now it is time to up the ante cosmetically as well. I love the Yamaha Blue, but I think instead of glossy black, it goes better with carbon fibre finish.
I got all black parts of my bike wrapped in carbon fibre vinyl. That includes the front fairing, front mudguard, all the area around the instrument console, the black strip that runs across the spine of the fuel tank, the panel behind and under the pillion seat and even the little rear mudguard.
Material used: Generic carbon fibre vinyl wrap (Quality is not bad, but in no way is it comparable to 3M wraps)
The cost: Rs, 2000, including labour
I was very happy with the wrap, but after a point, it started to come off from a couple of rough plastic edges. I was warned about that when I got it done - that it won’t stick well to non-glossy, rough surfaces, but I still insisted and got it done.
I got a lot of queries on UA-cam, Instagram and Facebook about this wrap, so I thought why not get it fixed and make a video for you guys as well.
And so, here it is.
I’ve tried to keep it simple and linear. The video is pretty much self-explanatory.
But let me tell you about how the wrap is holding up, since I am uploading this video a month and a half after shooting it.
It is doing just fine. Hasn’t come off from anywhere, and the secret to that is all the edges that don’t show, put black electrical tape on them. That keeps the wrap extremely secure. It should, in my opinion, last a year, easily.
I would recommend hiring a guy who has some experience doing this, otherwise you will end up with a lot of air bubbles and rough finish. It is not very expensive either.
I hope I have covered most queries about this carbon fibre wrap in this video. If you have read this description this far, please leave me feedback on the video. The edit, the music, the pacing, the structure, the content. It would mean a lot to me and help me improve leaps and bounds. I am relatively new at this. Using my phone and GoPros to shoot and basic iMovie software to edit (which I absolutely don’t know how to).

Had been waiting for this video from ages! Yes after wrapping the entire front panel, it looks meaner. Great mod for a great motorcycle. Love it. ❤️
Thanks, Ayan. Hope the wait was worth it. Cheers
Absolutely worth it.
Honestly your accent is much better than most of the Bollywood stars. By the way R15 V3 looks stunning. NS rider here. Stay safe ✌️
Edit: New sub 😁
Thanks Lio. Have you ridden the R15 V3? If so, what's your take on it in comparison to the NS200.
Abhinav Bhatt No I haven't and that saddens me. None of my friends have V3. Mostly ns200, KTM and V2.
It is the opposite for me. None of my friends have Pulsars or KTMs :)
Lol let's switch sides 😁
Hahahhahah. Sure. Why not.
The motorcycle looks epic no doubt.
But your beautiful gesture of properly giving the credits to Mr. Sachin makes me feel sooo good! ❤️

Your Modifications
(Please excuse if I get them wrong)
Master Brake Cylinder
Brake line (Pulsar 220's)
Brembo brake pads
Radiator grill
Daytona exhaust
Stickier rubber (Metzelers)
No rear footpegs
I wanted to know if I can do all those mods on my bike too ?
I own a Yamaha YZF R15S
(Mainly the brake setup and mods regarding brakes)
Yes, of course. Why not. In fact, all these mods paid off this Sunday. A dog came in the middle of the road from nowhere while I was overtaking a car at high speed. I was barely 10-20 metres from the dog when I slammed the front brake and the bike stoppied and halted a few feet from it. Definitely saved the life of the dog and mine. All the money I spent I have already earned back.
I have more brake updates planned. I have a 300 mm petal disc and a four piston front brake caliper that will go on the bike next. That's should complete my braking set up.
@@abhinavbhatt Glad that dog is safe and so are you.

Most welcome, Aryan.
Hey Buddy, thank you so much for this video. I remember requesting for this video just a few days back and finally here it is. I must say, the bike looks "Menacing" in a more macho sense :)
Like I mentioned earlier, I am definitely getting the tank middle strip & the plastic panels around the console carbon wrapped for sure. But not sure where to get it done in Bangalore. Also, access to the panel on the tank looks cumbersome and unnecessarily tedious. So, yeah will have to get it done by someone skilled as well who can put it back again in one piece.
Also, good luck on your other modifications pertaining to engine, ECU, USD forks and also the rear Ohlins. Would love to keep watching your hard work buddy. Enjoy & Ride safe..
Thanks brother. Yes, get work done by someone who knows their way around this bike and have done it before. I just hope all this hard work pays off and this bike becomes track ready soon.

Great video man. You get the r15 v3 serviced regularly right. So the next time can you film the entire process and upload it.
It will be useful for all the DIY freaks out there. More over its basic maintenance every v3 owner should be aware of, right?
Hey man. I did film the entire process of my second service which I did not get done at a Yamaha service centre, rather a superbike workshop. I still have to edit the video. Let's see when I get the chance to do that. Cheers
Abhinav Bhatt that would be immensely appreciated
Also can you make a video about the ergonomics of the bike?
For the whole body part to prevent from scratches , i recommend u to do a SERAMIC COATING, your bike will looks shining all day long for 3 years like that. 😊
Ceramic coating is very expensive, man. I can probably buy new panels for the bike for that money.
Heyy, where have you been it’s been like a month since you’ve uploaded a video. I remember you saying that you’re gonna change the ecu of your bike when is that video coming up? can’t wait for it! Waiting for the reply! Hope you hit a million soon!🖤
Hello Saif. I have been extremely occupied with work and that is why I have not been able to make time for videos. But I will soon. Don't worry about plastics, etc. It is a non-issue. Quality of parts is good enough. Just enjoy the bike when you get it. Cheers

Great videos and have become a sub because your videos seem more down to earth than other moto vloggers, please keep up the good work. So I am confused on getting a new bike and thought of getting your opinion too. I have been a fan of Royal Enfield fan and have Thunderbird 500 back home... now I have joined job in Bangalore so was wondering to get a bike here, so I was thinking to get The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 as it felt different from other bikes in Royal Enfield due to low vibrations and cornering, also wanted to try the adventure types of bikes and this was the cheapest option to get into one. But soon I see they have the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 to be released soon... so *my question is should I get the the Himalayan right now or should I wait and get the 650 later? Just what you feel about the 650 from leaked and official videos and images.* I would be glad to get your answer also it would maybe be a good video Idea. I am a tall guy 6ft 4in btw and have plans to get a Harley Sportster Roadster in an year or two. :) thanks
Hi Pallava. Thank you for the kind words. Well, how urgently do you have to buy the bike? The 650 Himalayan is a year away at the very minimum. If you want a bike that would be comfortable for your size, why don't you look at a used Ninja 650. I reckon it should be about 3 lakhs max. And the engine is indestructible. It would take you wherever you want, and in relative comfort too. Or just wait for the 650cc Royal Enfield Interceptor. However, I am not sure how good the quality of that bike would be. I want to also recommend the BMW GS310 if you can stretch that far. No-nonsense bike that is built to last. And honestly, instead of a Harley, look at a Tiger 800. Would serve you well.
Oh I thought interceptor is gonna be released in November or December. But I can't wait for an year long. Also thanks for your advice on Tiger 800 looks great and would drive well too being a bike from Triumph but I never had a Adventure bike so I have to see if I like adventure bikes before changing my mind from Harley Sportster Roadster 1200 that being a sport cruiser. Personally I took test ride of of 750s and Iron 883 and 1200 but 750 did not seem like authentic Harley also too small for my body proportion. Personally if I have to get a cruiser from Triumph in place of Roadster 1200 it would be Bonneville Speedmaster. Also for your input on Ninja being a sports bike I don't know how easy it would be on Indian Roads. This here is gonna be my 4th bike as I had Karizma R, Thunderbird 500 and CBZ 150.
I think I gave you the wrong idea. The Interceptor will release around November. I was talking about the Himalayan 650. That is at least a year away. And don't worry about the Ninja 650. It is an easy bike for Indian conditions. And I would still consider you going in for an ADV instead of a cruiser. I've ridden all Triumphs and even own a Street Triple 675. Trust me, you'll enjoy the Tiger more than other bikes. Try taking test rides. Cheers
Thank you soo much for your time and yeah I have seen your Triumph street 675 video it was really good test as you tested it directly and while riding gave your opinion about it without any script. And yeah I will go for Adv if I get and like the Himalyan. The 310gs from BMW is attractive but I will go in those foreign brands like those for a powerful bike maybe the Tiger 1200 or BMW R1200GS but I wanna try to know what an Adv really is before it. Having personally Karizma Thunderbird and CBZ, cruiser became my favourite going long distances so was leaning towards Harley. Thank you soo much for your time and Ride safe. Peace ✌
You are most welcome. If you do get a big ADV, don't get the 1200. 800 more than adequate for all our conditions. Nice chatting with you. Cheers
Wrap it all carbon with red accents! Would look dope!!
Interesting.
looks so mean now.loved the video, but 2000 is quite expensive IMO
here it could have been done in around 800 to 1000 for that work but i live in chandigarh.so maybe its expensive there.
Thanks man. Well, the work was very intricate. All the wrapping on all the black panels. It took him an entire day, so I felt it was worth it. And that's what matters at the end of the day, right :)
yah that's right :D .
Try jheel... Waha sasta h,
N one more thing from where u have got the led indicators??
And how to fix it since the hole is large in bike??
Plzz make a short video on it
The LED indicators are KTM/Bajaj. Got them from Karol Bagh in Delhi. I'll make a video on how to fit them soon. Cheers
@@abhinavbhatt thank u
how you installed those ktm indicators? because r15 v3's indicators are socket system but ktms are bolt system. can you please tell me?
The guy who did it put a little latch. It was fairly cheap too. Rs 10 for one.
dude how did u get the dashboard (or the inner side of the fairing) carbon fibre'd , i herd that taking out the v3's fairing is quite complicated...
Hi. Similar way I got the rest of the panels wrapped. It is hard work, no doubt.
your r15 looking like Yamaha r1m
Would love to know if the wrap will not come off again over to a especially near the gills?
I think in time it will. What can be done though is to secure it from inside by applying a thin strip of black electrical tape.
Hey Abhinav, how r you? I had the similar carbon fiber finish on my Apache with 13 written on top of it in yellow. It looked killer IMO just like ur R15 is looking.
Hi Kunal. I'm good. Didn't Apache also come with plastic in carbon fibre finish?
Newer generation Apache had some carbon fibre plastic near the tank but not on the head.
Oh, okay.
Looks nice, gives the bike the touch from Red and grey that this colour lacked. Show us how the headlight looks after tint
Thanks man. The headlights are pretty much useless after tinting.
@@abhinavbhatt ohh, still would love to see it in upcoming videos
Sure. Why not.
Aftermarket Brake & clutche levers along with USD fork and with a rear seat cowl would give the bike more agressive look...
Yeah. However, difficult to source. Believe me, I tried.
@@abhinavbhatt the only way to get it is to import it from Indonesia but the custom duty charges will costs an absurdly high amount for the usd forks.. so i think it would even look great with aftermarket adjustable matte grey, blue or black levers...
I tried to get USD forks from Thailand. Had gone there to buy them, but it didn't work out. Remember, you will also have to change the front mudguard, upper and lower clamp, clip on bars.

Front no. Plate n ho to allow h kya
No. Definitely not allowed. I'm still trying to figure out how to mount it without it breaking the visual flow of the front end.
A lot cheaper than places in UK that do wraps... I think you should try spraying clear coat over the carbon wrapped pieces, then you would get that shiny CF look as on Paganis, etc... But liked it anyway
Hi Prakash. I actually prefer the matte finish. Once this wrap starts to come off, I will go in for a 3M carbon fibre wrap that is glossy. Should get that shiny CF finish then. And I love Paganis. Have a soft spot for the Zonda R ever since I drove it in Gran Turismo. Think I am getting that itch back to build another sim set up. Maybe a direct drive wheel this time with a proper chassis, shifter, load cell pedals and hand brake.
Also an unrelated question. Should I buy the V3 now or should I wait for the ABS model to come? I stay in goa and it rains here for 4-5 months. I won't be riding while its raining but when I do, the roads will be wet. Please suggest what to do. Its not sure whether the ABS will be single channel or dual.
I would say wait for the ABS model now that it is less than six months away.
Abhinav Bhatt the wait is killing me 😂
Me too. I really need to sit down and start working on a new video.
Sir plz made a video on golden alloy rims
I'll try, Tushar. Cheers
How did you get the wheels painted gold? Did the colour come stock with the bike?
Hello. No. It only comes with black wheels. I got them painted golden from an automobile painting shop in Delhi's Karol Bagh.
Dear bro
I need Pulser F250 headlight modeling to 3 eye
Where I can made custom visor with head light
Can u make a video on the gold rims tht is quite unique from stock rims that company provides
I didn't shoot a video when I got them painted. So a little difficult to make a video on them.
Is this a matte black?. . Which one is better you prefer the gloss carbon fiber or matte carbon fiber?.
I'd prefer a gloss carbon fibre but that wasn't available.
Does wrapping your bike leave any scratches/cutmarks from the blade?
Not really.
If u add a winglet to ur bike... It will lit🔥 and u can also add the mirrors with indicators... It will help to look more premium... Cheers bro
Let's see man. Going to Thailand next week to buy parts. Will check everything out there. Cheers
Good luck my bro💪

Hello bro i saw the tank grip installed in your bike, does it help while riding? Please give me some idea from where should i purchase.
Yes, it helps with a bit of traction when you are leaned over and during hard braking. You can find it on Ali Express. Cheers
@@abhinavbhatt thanks bro
Will the stock r15 hit 150 km/hr with a 93 kg rider?
I am asking you this because the showroom dealer is not going to allow to rip the bike on the highway.
Under the right conditions, it might be possible. But remember 150 Will be touch and go. You won't be able to hold that speed for over a couple of seconds. What matters is this bike will hold 130 on the highway.
Anything about the Headlights? Are they good enough for night rides?
They definitely could be better. Not very confidence inspiring at night. However, my opinion is based on just one ride in the dark. I don't ever ride when it is dark and in fact have my headlights tinted black.
Bro sir tank par aur handle par and interior par kitni charge Lete hai
Dekho, maine saare wrap ka 2,000 diya tha. To sirf this much would be about 1000. I think. Why don't you call Sachin. He'll give you a better idea.
What's the cost for wrap and wheel painting bro
Rs 2,000 each for wrapping and wheels.
How is the brake doing? Did it ever failed on you? I have seen the instalation video , and i want to buy one set , but i am afraid of them to fail as they are not brembo or nissin
The brake is doing phenomenally well. Very good feedback and progressive power. What also helps is my brake pads are a high grade Brembo and I also have Motul brake fluid and a steel braided brake line. And sticky Metzeler M5 tyres. So the combination helps me shed speed with a lot of confidence.
@@abhinavbhatt ok that is fine
Just a question , if you need in case to rebuild the piston or to add the rubber seals, where do you buy it? That is my afraid of buying it and then not having the work around of iit
But thanks for your answer! :) realy does help me
Do you have any friends who have the same master cylinder with feedback? Thanks
Nope. No clue how I will rebuild the piston if I have to. And I don't even think spares will be available since it was bought from AliExpress. I'll probably have to replace than rebuild. And no, nobody else I know has this mod so far.
I have been thinking of exchanging my FZ25 for V3 .... do you have any opinion of the performance differences between the two bikes??? thanks
They offer similar levels of straight line performance. The FZ would have better torque, easy riding position, but dynamically, the R15 better overall. I am not sure if it is worth losing money on the FZ to go for the R15. Maybe look at a category higher?
I had fz25, now have a V3. The main difference is the riding position. But there are many other differences like looks😃
