Yamaha R15 V3 Integrated Tail Light Installation In India

- February 19, 2019 - My 33rd birthday. I had thought I'd give you guys a surprise today by posting the top speed video of my Yamaha R15 V3. But, sadly, some things are just not meant to be.
The tuning is not sorted yet. The bike has already killed two spark plugs - maybe because the fuelling is rich right now (I am not too sure). So, as more testing continues, this bike, I can safely say, is not ready for a high speed run as of now.
And so, we get to the subject of this video. An integrated tail light. I wanted to share something with you guys today, and if not a top speed run, at least an update on my bike and a new part installation video - hey, gotta make the most of the situation at hand.
This tail light is direct plug and play and has turn signals built in. It is slightly smoked instead of the red tail light that comes stock on the bike.
The build quality feels like it will last and it is the exact same shape and size as the stock light.
Even though it looks nice, it is flawed.
When the brake is engaged, the light does not shine bright enough and can be dangerous on the road. The whole point of a tail light is defeated if it does not do its main job well.
Since it is an LED light, it comes with a relay to control the timing of the blinking. The new relay slows down blinking a lot, and honestly, I prefer the slightly faster blink rate I get with the stock relay.
Other than that, I do think it is priced a bit steep. About 51 US Dollars or Rs 3,676.
But since we don't have any other alternative available, what can one do.
I was running KTM indicators so far and they looked sleek on my bike. Since I changed the front indicators to flush mounted, I thought why not tidy up the rear end as well. And that this light does marvelously.

Suggestion - The relay which came is electronic one. It also works as load resistor so the led bulbs doesn't get burnt. The screw which is there in new relay will adjust the flasher speed. It's better to use the new relay for longer life of led.

The problem of the light not getting bright enough when the brakes are applied, you can change it to the blinking type which a lot of people use these days where the tail light blinks whenever the brakes are installed. Even if its not bright enough, it will certainly gather more attention than before. Would look cheap to some people, but it will be better from a safety point.

You are just awesome in modifying your bike there are so many people who are waiting for USD fork assembly for their R15V3 you can sell those online if anyone needed there are so many crazy people in India for modification but lack of knowledge and resources they are adjusting. You can sell those modification accesories online. You have contacts so you can import those parts from other countries and also you'll definitely energies our modifying community.
That's a good idea. But it would require me to focis just on it and compromise on my day job. I can't do that, howmuchever I want to.
Good work on the tail light man, even with my v2 after tail tidy, I was using KTM indicators on the rear, but found a good taillights with integrated indicators from Aliexpress it's been almost 1 and half years since my installation it works well and good

@@abhinavbhatt on the contrary, I had a doubt that's stopping me to go for mods. The extended Warranty. They clearly informed warranty will be void even after a small cut of wire that's altered. And I paid some extra (don't remember how much) to get 2 more years extended warranty. Do I really need to be afraid about it and back away from mods for some years?

Yes. Warranty will be void but I don't see anything going wrong with this bike. It's well put together.

Nice one bro, but I feel r15 doesn’t really need that much of an aesthetic improvement. But definitely needs a massive performance upgrade though. Little carbon fibre panels would also help too.
Can't afford carbon fibre panels. Also don't think anyone makes them for this bike.

Hi. I am just under 5'11. The R15 is comfy enough but I'd recommend a bike with standard bars for the city.

Will it be more sensible to switch to an exhaust for which your ECU can be tuned easily? or switch your ECU to Powertronics one? I guess they have an ECU for R15 V3. And i guess they'll have a map for Daytona muffler. Anyway, your build series is Lit! Just try to put videos more often!
The problem is nobody makes an exhaust for this bike here, in India. Powertronics wasn't available when I was looking, and frankly won't buy another ECU. Will just have to make whatever I have work. Cheers

Yes, it most certainly would have had. But I had no intentions to even pursue this project. I just wanted to fix the fuelling and one thing led to another and here we are.

Abhinav the relay has a small notch where you can use a screwdriver to regulate the blinking speed of the indicator. The brightness of the tail light cannot be changed but you can add a strobe unit to the tail light wire so that it can be visible when you apply brakes. Btw most probably the ecu is made for Indonesian bikes and the company states not to use it on indian bikes.
Hi Ayon. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out. I don't think there is any mechanical difference in the two bikes. And the company told me it will work perfectly well.
Abhinav Bhatt I was also pondering over that. Most probably the wiring is different. If you can order the whole wiring harness from Indonesia or Thailand and replace the wiring harness of your bike maybe your problem will get sorted out.
Don't want to go through these hassles.

Hi.. We have commented before but want to make sure one thing. Does V3 cause any wrist pain and back pain on the long rides?
Not a lot. One gets used to it. I did a 600 km ride in 2 days and I was fine.

something apart from the video ....just look for it we can connect the obd port of this bike to the TORQUE app on the playstore with the help of bluetooth ELM adapter...(it is useful for diagnosis and search fault codes)...if possible do make a video on that ...again amazing content u deliver ...thank you!!!

Hi Vageesh. The headlight mod I have is not something I would encourage at all. I have blacked them out since I only ever ride this bike on a Sunday morning, once is two months or even more. I think you can fit brighter LEDs. Sorry, I haven't researched any for this bike.
