Great idea, versatile!! Better commentary on it's use. I watch lots of youtube video's where operators do not properly ballast their tractor. Good message and reminder!!
@@danimalshouse I have a 13 year old New Holland 26 HP, but I have always had John Deere envy. JD is Americas tractor. They just wanted too much money.
That's a great idea! I'm doing something a little different but kind of the same. I'm taking PVC pipe and filling it with concrete (probably make my video in a week or so). I can lift them out by hand and use them for ballast on other projects (tent weights, holding a tarp down, etc) without needing the loader to pull them out. As a dedicated item I think I like your idea better but I'm a multi-use kind of guy
Hey Danimal, I am pretty green with tractors. I just bought a 2023 JD3039r with I-Match and a ballast box. I have the loader on the front. When I simply park my tractor on flat level ground and lower my 3-point hitch all the way down, my ballast box sits about 3-4” off the ground. Is this standard or can adjustment be made? Or do you always need pallets or something similar where you permanently park so that you can actually set it down and take the pressure off of the 3-point hitch? Thanks and great videos you have here on UA-cam :-)
Yeah, right on, same thing with my setup. You can adjust the arms to go down lower but then it takes down the maximum height they can be raised to. I just use a small pallet I made to set it on so it's the right height. That pallet also helps make it easy to pick up the ballast to move with the front forks if needed.
Subscribed. I have a very similar tractor (3046r open station) and also a ballast box. Mine is filled with sandbags and some fill in the base. I wish I would have only done sand bags or concrete like you. I did recently fill my tires with beet juice. Not sure if you’ve considered that at all…
Thank you. I haven't heard of the beat juice idea for compact tractors but do know that some old farmers have done that on their 2-wheel drive tractors for better traction while working land. They swish and sway when driving down the road though but it's still kind of cool. Thanks for subscribing!
This basically is filled with concrete, it's just able to be removed. I would guess if you filled it with concrete 100% it would only be maybe 25-30lbs heavier but then you'd be locked into it being that way unless you wanted to chip out all that concrete later someday. Thanks for watching!

Glad you liked it!
That is very clever! Thanks for the great idea.
You bet!
Having a removable concrete insert in a box is a great idea.
Thanks! I have this on my tractor any time there isn't another 3pt implement being used. It makes everything safer and smoother.

That's a great idea too. I like the universal coverage as well. Do more with less, good thinking.

I wonder how much it would weigh if you just completely filled the box with concrete?

What do you have in front and back of the removalbe block?
Two more blocks that are built in the same way just thinner and shorter. I wanted as much weight in the box as possible.
Damnit- i filled mine w concrete already! ugh
LOL, now your committed. Thanks for watching!
