We are considering the change from the stock speedometer to the Opmid on a couple bikes here in Thailand. I'm thinking it might be best to take my bike to the Cub House and let them install it as my eyes don't see so well anymore and I really don't like tearing into that much of the electronics. Thanks for showing this video for us and there is a surprise on its way to you.......
Hi Eddie, so nice to hear from you again. After watching all the stuff you have installed, I gotta tell ya the Opmid will be a piece of cake installation for you, and actually kinda fun. But I understand about taking it to the Cub House. As I've gotten older, I often choose to hire others to work on my vehicles when I used to do all my own work. I don't even like changing the oil on my cars anymore. I did install towing mirrors on my RAM truck the other day which involved taking the inside of the doors apart, but it was very easy. Then I had to take it to the dealer and get the computer re-flashed so the existing connectors in the doors would recognize the new mirrors and let the turn signal and puddle lights work, and that job which should have taken them 15 minutes and $30 took hours and cost $177. I know you'll love the Opmid. It's the single best accessory I've added to the bike. I've got an exhaust pipe crash bar coming and a front carry rack too. And thanks for the surprise too! You are super!
Thanks for running through this, I'm due for a gear readout - now that I've stopped trying to grab a clutch lol. Negotiating with my wallets conscience about this one.
I wanted one of these speedometers, but they are too expensive. Then I got a chance to sell my motorcycle lift, which I thought I'd really like, but never actually used because it's a lot of work to drag it into the middle of the garage then load a bike, tie it down, and raise it up. Takes a lot of time. So much easier to drop to my knees and work on the bikes like I've done all my life. So with the extra cash in hand, I decided to throw it to the most expensive option on the bike. And I'm glad I did. I really like it. On the side stand disable, I grew up on bikes without it and I hate having the government dictate safety features to me. They are not my keeper. My Vespa 300GTS had it (since they have no neutral so you couldn't get around it by putting it in neutral to open my driveway gate) so I disabled it. On the CT125 I dislike having to go all the way down to neutral, then when I get back on it, I have to shift it back into gear. No worse than a bike with a clutch, but I still like to leave it in low gear so I disabled it, more out of hatred for the government control. If it's not dangerous in Thailand, why is it dangerous here?
The best upgrades have been gearing it down for more power, handlebar risers, and the speedometer, not necessarily in that order. I love that speedometer, but it's also the most expensive upgrade I did.
As soon as you mentioned it on the other video I knew you were going to get it, looks awesome. I'll have to save the pennies for that one for sure. Freaking 19F here, way to cold for anything. Toss in the link where you purchased it, looks to be around 250+shipping, maybe at during the summer eh.
Yeah, I wanted it, but couldn't afford it. Then I sold my motorcycle lift that was sitting around in the garage taking up space and I never used it, so then I had the money. I really like this. It's way too expensive but if you can afford it, it's worth the money. This is the speedometer Honda should have put on the bike, and it probably wouldn't cost them anymore than that piece of junk they stuck us with. I got it at hardracing.com, but they are in short supply. also, steadygarage.com is supposed to be getting some. Opmid in Japan won't have anymore until May. It cost me $274 shipped. It's almost 70 degrees out here but very windy. My KLR650 battery went bad to ordered one on Amazon and it came yesterday so I got it installed and took it for a ride. The big, heavy, powerful bike handles the wind better than Honda. I was looking at selling the KLR and getting a lighter enduro bike like the fat tire Yamaha TW200 (it would great in the sand out here) or the Kawasaki KLX230 or even the Honda CRF300L for better road speeds, but for now I think I'll keep the KLR a little longer.
@@spydie Mine should be in this week, I went to steadygarage.com but seems FedEx is having issues, must be weather. Supposed to be in on Tuesday but who knows. I am added a 6.5" spot light to the front along with my ambers and a new battery tender connector (cover broke off the old one) while I have the bike apart. Snowing and icing here, no riding today.
@@SpyderTom1 I have other friends who's order for the opmid and for a rear sprocket have been held up almost a week now with the bad weather (in Arkansas). You have my email address. Send me a picture of your spotlight and your battery tender connector. I'm going to email you a picture of my connector I just put on my Vespa.

The mileage can't ever be put back on it because it only records miles while it's hooked up to the bike. The bike itself doesn't store mileage so it can't dump it back onto the odometer when you re-install it. Basically it's like putting a new odometer on the bike if your original one fails. The dealer can't restore the miles to the new odometer.
Thanks . We don’t have these bikes in Uk as Honda don’t sell them here . There’s one for sale second hand that would have been imported but the clocks have been upgraded too the one you fitted and this is why I thought that if you at some stage wanted too leave her back too original then mileage will be incorrect. Also Cam was done so I’m thinking maybe this is too high a risk as it’s still priced above a brand new Grom .
@@therobinlad They will always cost more than a Grom because the MSRP is quite a bit more. I sold mine to a guy in Poland because they didn't import them there either. No, I'm sorry. I don't remember how to do it. I sold the bike a year ago with 1500 miles on it to a guy in Poland. I just didn't like the bike. But instructions come with the Opmid that tells you how to do it. It was very simple.
I got two of these (448 and 536) and will do the OPMID when I can get one. I heard you say in an earlier video that you added the golden plug as soon as you got the bike by laying it down on its side and replacing stock plug? Which side did you put down and didn't you lose oil? Was going to drain mine from center stand and put in golden plugs which I got before the bikes where delivered. Seems your way easier and no oil loss? I only got a mile or two on bikes having just run up and down the street to try.
So Hard Racing still has stock and I ordered two of the OPMIDs. Ammo sales of old stock I had paid for them. Who would've thought that a 15 cents round bought 20 years ago brings $1 now? Was for the zombie apocalypse but how much is enough when you now live on a mountain top in Northern Alabama? Bikes go up and down the mountain just fine carrying all I need to make sure they don't get up here..... LOL! Actually bought the bikes the same way too. Crazy times. Think the 100mpg will come in handy when gas is $10 a gallon?
@@opforsix1582 I'm surprised they still have stock. A friend ordered one and they backordered it, then sent it out a day later. But it was supposed to be there today so he could work on it while the weather turned bad, but the post office screwed up and delayed it till next Tuesday. Yeah, gas is going up, mostly because summer is coming. But with Biden cutting out oil production, states like mine (New Mexico) that depend on the oil production will put an end to the production and gas prices are going to sky rocket, just in time for summer vacation. Last year I didn't get to use my new $24,000 camper to go anywhere because of Covid and now I'll have to stay home because of gas prices. We've got snow on the ground, wind, and 2 degrees wind chill temperatures. It will be in the 70s a week from yesterday, supposedly. I hate it when I can't ride my bikes every day.

@@opforsix1582 Who got in 15? Yes, I posted on the advrider forum and the Hondatrail125 forum about steadygarage.com getting in their shipment. Thanks for thinking of us!
Bikes with automatic 0r semi-automatic transmissions like this bike and my Vespa really need the side stand switch disabled because there are many times you want to hop off the bike for a minute to raise a garage door, get mail from the mailbox, open or close a gate, etc that you don't want or need to be re-starting the bike every time. It was a foolish thing to protect "noobies" from forgetting to put the kickstand up. Just more government control trying to protect us from ourselves. I rode bikes for 50 years without any of that foolishness. besides, if you forget to put it up, if it contacts the ground after you take off, it puts itself up because you are going forward and it swings the kickstand to the rear, so the danger is very minimal.
I thought I told you where I got it? Anyway you can google it. There’s only two places in the US and I can’t think of their names right now. I’m traveling so can’t look up my receipts.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it was pretty easy. All plug and play. I thought taking the bike apart was going to be a lot of work, and aside from a couple pieces being tricky to get off/disconnected, it was all actually pretty easy. I used the Opmid meter to turn off the ABS light so it won't be coming on and flashing (fault) when I'm running the 13t front sprocket. The ABS is disabled when the fault light is flashing, but it doesn't really make any difference as this bike really didn't need ABS anyway. I was able to get the speedometer error corrected (off by 2 mph, same as the factory speedometer) by decreasing it 5% (for a 2% error). Now the GPS and my speedometer agree. I hope it's got enough adjustment to offset the 13t sprocket too. It makes the speedometer off by 5 mph from the gps. It has an adjustment range of 80-120%
Good deal. Thanks for sharing. It has a program to change sprocket size as well l believe. But it's not accurate without the speed healer, isnt that correct? Looks really easier to read for sure .like the gear position and temp and tach for sure. Good Job!
It does have a sprocket change setting. It comes with it set to 15t and you set it to 14t in the initial setup. The speedometer was off about 2 mph (same as the factory speedo) and I had to drop it a full 5% (95%) to get it to read the same as my GPS. I would have guessed 1 or 2%. That makes me wonder if I can drop it enough to offset the 5 mph difference between the old speedometer and GPS when running the 13t? It only has a range of 80-120%. The speed healer only heals your ABS I think, with this speedometer, (since this speedometer supposedly can "heal" speedometer error). But the speed healer is necessary to heal the speed and ABS with the stock speedometer. If this speedometer can't heal a 13t completely, then a speed healer will make up the difference, if I understand right.
I'm sure you realize there is absolutely no difference between the 2021 and 2022 model? Anything that works on the 2021 will be identical on the 2022. It also works on the Grom and probably the Monkey.
