    Nice system. I was just waiting for the whole thing to tip over when trying to lift the logs. Might consider limit switches so you don't need to hold the switch, and an alternator on the motor to keep the battery topped off. Thanks for posting-- I'm definitely putting one on mine.

      Thanks 🙏 The switch is non momentary, so I don’t have to hold it. It automatically stops when fully extended or retracted. I have drop down stabilizer legs to prevent tipping. The alternator is a great idea. 👍

    Using it as a staging table looks like it saves a bunch of time! That splitter setup is really nice! I need to work on upgrading mine.

      Thanks. There are limited options with no hydraulics to tap into. Still beats hammering wedges imo.

    I would like to see this machine split a 24 to 30 inch diameter twisted birch round, then I will be impressed. Thank you for the factory tour and the idea of your lift.

    The object is to eliminate lifting the round into the jaws with your back. Just lower the jack stand and put the tongue on the ground and then either get on your knees or sit on a stool or a round and use your shoulders to roll and wrestle the round into the jaws. A lot of difficult tasks become easier and more pleasurable when your on your knees.

      Being in construction for a long time, my knees and lower back both have issues. I think you'll like these Swedish made pants with built in knee pad protection.ua-cam.com/video/04zL6VCojRI/v-deo.html

    That is a good setup! I'd like to improve my setup so I can avoid at most any bending. Working at a proper level makes a world of difference! Thanks!

    I don't know how much you have into that lift, but I've seen splitters with the same overall capabilities plus a lift that cost a TON of money - seemingly for that extra utility. Could air struts on the lift help it out any? Cool video as always, Case!

      Thanks David. The actuator, switch, battery, and steel was around $280. I had the paint, wire, and electrical connectors.

    Nice work. I've been considering making a lift powered by either a windscreen wiper motor, a capstan winch driven by the of the splitter or using a cordless drill. I have a number of linear actuators so that's now an option.

    The lift works great as a staging table too. If it is dropping a bit, it sounds like you are probably close to the weight limit of the actuator

    You can put a storm door spring inside each of the large diameter springs, it works great. Your trailer is about the same height as the splitter, hint, hint. : )

    After watching this video, it makes me appreciate my Wolfe Ridge Splitter even more. Just use the wagon as your staging table and forget the battery powered log lift.

    • @BuildALotAcres
      @BuildALotAcres  Рік тому

      And how much was the Wolfe Ridge? I appreciate the SS costing a third as much

    • @larasea741
      @larasea741 Рік тому

      @@BuildALotAcres My splitter was at least twice as much and is at least twice the splitter compared to the SS. You get what you paid for. You bought a cheaper splitter and trying to improve with all your add ons.

      @@larasea741 More like three-four times the price , and same cord per hour output, but that’s ok. All the money I saved can go through towards tractor implements. Thanks for watching 👍

      @BuildALotAcres  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, unfortunately linear actuators that are fast are usually rated for very low amounts of weight.

    That dang log lift is murderously slow, totally against the concept of the awesome super split.
    Why don't you spin the dang machine around and have your back to the pile of logs, you're trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.
    Super split is a great machine, I've commercially split w one for 15 years now but some of you want to talky talk too much when you should be working

      If you actually watched the video, I clearly stated that I was doing it for demonstration purposes. Believe it or not some people actually want to see the lift in action, not me standing in the way blocking the view with my ass. I agree its slow compared to many lifts. It still beats getting a hernia trying to lift 300-400 lb rounds. If all I cared about was workedy work, I wouldn't do YT at all. Speaking of such, why are you watching YT, and commenting on videos you disliked, and not working?
