    This is still my go-to video on Bahn chiao. I’m a useless Cambodian cook and being Cambodian, it’s an embarrassment🥰🥰🥰 my mum is a horribly impatient teacher, so I come to your page. You and your mum comes to the rescue every time. Thanks. xxx

      +Moms Cambodian Recipes I know right? My mom would teach me to to cook a lot of these dishes but it's always funny to see her say in Khmer, "just a little of this, alittle that, slice it like this, stir it like this." But I'm all like, should I Even use the spoon since you're using the palm of your hand to measure?" And my mom looks at me for it moment, "whichever, spoon, hand, it's all the same."
      "Yes mom"

    Can't say I've ever had it with Coconut. My mom usually makes it with either ground chicken/pork and shrimp. Thanks for the video and I was laughing when you said "I would've mixed it all in a big bowl and ate it like that but my mom said don't eat it like that for the video." Typical Cambodian mom as my mom would've said same lol.

    I've seen that also. Its hard to say since my mom never buys it like that. She always makes it on her own. Although I know in Asian markets they have frozen shredded coconut meat. That may work better.

    Better no need use MSG in the powder... for sugar if you don want put just use fresh milk instead is Ok. Thanks n appreciated your cook anuty. :)

    • @followufollowme
      @followufollowme 10 років тому

      MSG is fine, as long as you don't use it too much.
      to go a bit further with your post, You don't need sugar. Sugar is gonna take over the natural taste. Garlic & Onions are already sweet when cooked. The problem with coconut is it's also going to cover the taste of spices. It's typical of Chinese to add coconut/sugar to south east Asian food to cover the spices because they aren't use to flavored food. Remember that ALL south east Asian REAL culture is "mainly" from India, NOT China.

      This is a Cambodian version on Vietnamese Banh Xeo. That's why the name of the dish is pronounced in retaining Vietnamese name. If you travel to Thailand, Thai people like Vietnamese dish called "nem nướng" in Vietnam and it becomes "Naem Neung" in Thailand.
