      I have a little story about CVN-65 from when I in the Naval Communication Unit on Midway Island 1966-1968. A big purpose of our unit was to relay message traffic. The Enterprise was passing fairly close once and Midway radioed them asking if they would like us to help handle some of their message traffic. They responded, "We don't think you could handle our level of traffic." Sort of good natured snub, and probably partially true. We had many transmitters, and many Technical Materiel Corporation 10KW transmitters, but they had some Technical Materiel Corporation 40KW versions.

    It’s cool seeing this. My dad served from 90-07 in the NAVY and he was stationed on the USS Enterprise before. He ended up working at the shipyard after getting out the service and he’s told me countless stories of working on many decommissioned aircraft carriers that he and some of his colleagues have served on. He said it hits hard seeing the ships they once lived on for weeks to months at a time so consistently end up not being functional anymore and just being broken down for parts. Love the video btw. Keep it up 👌🏿💯

    True story
    My brother was on the Enterprise
    He was an S-3 Viking computer guy.
    And he was in port at Fremantle AU.
    My ship was USS Tripoli
    USMC. Machinegunner
    We were ordered to drop anchor about 1 mile
    Outside of Fremantle. They didn’t want two
    Military ships in at same time.
    I walked up to my 1st Sgt and said
    “My brother is on the Enterprise
    can I go visit him ?”
    1st Sgt said
    “What the F do I look like, a tour guide ?”
    LoL.

    I'm happy to say that my father and I have made that \same exact carrier, CVN-65< over the years has he worked on it (in the 94-98) as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and its fun to see that someone else has made an exact copy of the ship. I've been on it myself before it was scuttled and it is amazing how well you done with it, impressive indeed.

I have no idea how many Cat shots and arrested landings. Once went off the angle deck with out a Cat. The plane was fully loaded and we went down 1/2 way to the water. Once we took some boiler repair supplies to USS Independence so one time on and off her.

    I do HO model railroading and decided to add aircraft to my layout eventually deciding to purchase some carriers. My first purchase was in 1998 when i purchased a 1/400 USS Enterprise by LEE that came with a motor. Then i got a 1/400 Enterprise by Revell in 2001. THEN i got a 1/350 CVN 68 Nimitz made by Trumpeter that i purchased in Japan. Not seeing the time to put them together, i started looking for diecast carriers and opted to buy a few of the GI Joe Saratoga carriers by Hasbro. Now i have two of those and ended up selling my LEE and Revell carriers some years ago on ebay. I still kept CVN 68 for the effort i put in to mail it and just can't find something like that normally.

    Great models with superb detail and so much that looks just right. This is not meant to be nitpicking, but from a constructive point of view, on an Invincible class carrier at Flying Stations, the Harriers are generally arranged around the fantail and the helos are generally parked either below decks, alongside the island, or in the Graveyard (0 spot area) unless they are being prepared for launch or recovery. BUT, it's absolutely your model and is still a superb piece, either way. 👌

    Wow, that´s REALLY impressive. I build some carriers about a decade ago, but like most people in 1/720 scale, so nothing special. The Enterprise and Nimitz, too, an Wasp class and two Russian carriers, one of the older ones with Yak-38 and Kamov copters, I think the Kiev, and the Admiral Kutsnetsov with MiG and Su-fighters on it. They are all waterline models, but forgotten in the showcase and a little dusty over the years, sadly :-(

The problem is that they break when he plays with them. When I was a kid I used to play with GI Joe. Is there anyone who can tell me if there is today something similar that is just realistic as the building kids but more robust like the gi joe vehicles?

    Please can you stop making a similar nice videos like this one. I week ago i had no clue or though about models till i sow your video by coincidence and now I endup by buying 4 kits one : revell entreprise 1/400 which i found is not same like yours so i had to buy another one tamiya 1/350 CVN-65 than i found a deal for U190 1/72 so I bought it and today bought triptiz 1/350 . I spend a fortune and now i have to buy airbrush and some colours and glue to build them from no experience. Be ready if i don't make them as nice as yours i will send you the bill

    FYI that's the wrong version of the F35, the one you show is a C model they only fly off the big deck carrier's you can tell cause they are the only version with folding wings, the B model is the one you need they fly off the LHD they are the stovl ones

    These are beautiful.. I have always loved the look of US carriers over all other carriers.. They look so formidable compared to other nations carriers!.. When I was a child I had a model of the (then) USS Enterprise sitting amongst all my girly stuff lol.. I still have it in my room at my parents lol.. I want to get it but my mother loves keeping my room as is.. I NEED that model so bad lol

      KNIFEGUY1701 Crikey! Talk about Ye olde nostalgic walk. What can I say - mois aussi, peut être. Well, French was not my strength at school. Come to think of it I was not too good at any of the other subjects. You are lucky that you did not keep those early model builds, heartache. Just like the real deal, they age - they come unglued, fall apart - a truly sad spectacle. Best to start anew. New models look better on 4K.

    Not to nit pick. But having grown up in the Navy during the Vietnam war era. The CV-11 USS Intrepid would not have carried A-1 SkyRaiders and A-7 Corsair II’s at the same time. The last A-1 squadrons were retired in 1966, the first A-7 squadrons deployed in 1967. I know because I lived at NAS Lemoore when this occurred.

      Oh, well thanks for the feedback. Both planes came with the kit so I assumed they would be suitable. You should email Gallery models and let them know maybe?

    Are you going to make that Nimitz class The Nimitz? If so I hope your remember VF 84 The Jolly Rogers Squadron. Their F14s used to do fly bys of my school in Norfolk Va. When it was its home port. That skull and cross bones on the rudders are to me the coolest Squadron Vandals ever There was a SIFI Movie called The Final Count Down. And The Nimitz gets caught in this odd storm. It travels back in time to Dec 5 1941 and they figure it out. Its a killer movie. Great Builds Sir

      @@JJModelMaking i would love to see a photo of a charlie on an LHA/D. They cannot land on them. The bravos can hover land like a harrier but the charlies need arresting cables.
      Excellent ships. I think you got the colors spot on

      Why? The Marines will be flying the F-35c vertical take-off version. Eventually. When or if they ever figure how to do it with 1 engine.

    • @jeffgarberding4499
      @jeffgarberding4499 4 роки тому

      You could always build a Midway class put some Crusaders, an A-4 or 2 and a couple of A-6 intruders on the flight deck, pour some lighter fluid over it .Strike a match, and ta da You've got the U.S.S. Forrestal.

    USS Wasp is a navy shipand having 2 different era's of aviation wings together is makes me uncomfortable as a navy man

    • @FirstLast-ys6xx
      @FirstLast-ys6xx 4 роки тому +1

      The only reason it's a navy ship is because the marines are too busy eating crayons and working out to be bothered with the ship. Stop nitpicking. Its for the marines, which is part of the navy so he wasn't wrong.
