I was serving at the Naval Communication Unit at MIdway Island (Technically, the "Midway Islands") at the transmitter site in the late 60's when the Enterprise cruised by pretty near. We asked them if they would like us to handle some of their message traffic. They answered something like "You couldn't handle our message traffic". We had a number of 10KW transmitters and so did they. But they also had some 40KW transmitters and we didn't.
@@southernwolfgaming Actually, it was extremely rare that Morse code would be used once vastly better methods developed. Most communication was teletype and used multiplexed single sideband transmission which meant you could have 16 channels on the upper sideband and 16 channels on the lower. The only time Morse code would be used if there was no other way to communicate or if there was some problem and that was the only way to tell the other end to shift to a different frequency or something. The Enterprise was my first 1/350 scale aircraft carrier. Spend six years building it off and on to her mid 60’s configuration. Even built the hangar deck and both bridges from scratch.
Love your collections. As a retired US Navy person i would just add that on any amphibious ship that LCAC's would never be bow out in the welldeck, they always pull in bow in and back out.

I still have my 1/350 Revell Bismarck which I built nearly 40 years ago and it is still in fabulous condition. I recently got back into model building again and have completed the Trumpeter 1/350 Admiral Hipper and the Graf Spee. I have yet to build the 1/350 Revell Platinum series Tirpitz with over 2200 parts and so much PE. The build and camo on this model will really test me. Your collection is beautiful and I will hope to build a US carrier soon
I have a very small model of the USS Arizona and the USS Missouri. I want to get the bigger models, but I have nowhere to put them. I want a Bismarck model. It is my favorite ship of all time.
Do you have the Yamato? where do you keep all this large models? They must have taken a huge space in your house. I used to collect Tamiya waterline series when I was a kid.
No I don't have the Yamato yet, am saving up. I put the kits on two IKEA bookshelves in my man cave, there's a video ot two on the channel if interested. Which models did you have?
You mention that the model is dusty; how does one remove dust without damaging the (finer points) of the model? Unless one puts them it in a sealed case, dust will always be an issue? I have to say that you really did a great job with augmenting that Bismarck model! Revell are decent kits (?), but not that detailed out of the box right? Favourite has to be the USS Enterprise though, a fascinating ship all around, and you spent 4 years building your model? Wow, what a result!
Hi. I’m Daniel from Singapore. During my younger days . I love to own built an aircraft or war ships from scratch. Then teenagers. I built at Fighter Aircraft or Aircraft Carrier. All 6 was scale 1/700 and one 1/350. Therefore, I'm seeking USS Midway 1/350 ( 80's version ) after the 3rd modernization transformed. Ever think to do a mould, same as USS Enterprise?
And also nice collection I just started collecting 1/350 scale ships. If you remember that last time I told you I just got my uss new jersey that model is my first 1/350 collection. But next year I'm getting my uss Nimitz but the problem is, is that I don't have enough space to put my 1/350 nimitz😅
I wish they made the FFG7 in 1/200 scale. I served on FFG43 The USS Rentz who rests on the floor of the Pacific now. I was a ssonar tech who was tatally jazzed when Hunt for Red October came out. They make Jonsey to be a super tech. They strech things a bit. It was fun just tthe same.

I know this video is a few years old. But is there a kit you’d recommend to convert to RC?
what do you use for modern US haze grey?
I still have my 1/350 Revell Bismarck which I built nearly 40 years ago and it is still in fabulous condition. I recently got back into model building again and have completed the Trumpeter 1/350 Admiral Hipper and the Graf Spee. I have yet to build the 1/350 Revell Platinum series Tirpitz with over 2200 parts and so much PE. The build and camo on this model will really test me. Your collection is beautiful and I will hope to build a US carrier soon
I meant Tamiya Bismarck- sorry
Would you ever consider showing them off in a video?
Should do a few more British ships. Type 42 batch 3 is a suggestion. Wow 4yrs to build a ship. That's a lot of patience. Really nice vid
I have a very small model of the USS Arizona and the USS Missouri. I want to get the bigger models, but I have nowhere to put them. I want a Bismarck model. It is my favorite ship of all time.
Live these .what are the metrial you use for this
are these kits motorizable? can the be converted to RC?
They don't come motorised but the bigger carriers and battleships, definitely yes
t I think Bismarck had her cutters removed by the time she had that camo (The baltic sea camo are removed for the super strucutres) on?
Thank you! I have to remove the dust very carefully!!
Nice video. Hope you'll have timw making some ww2 ships like the fletchers and some gearing class and some cruisers.
I'd certainly like to - which ones would you recommend?
And also nice collection I just started collecting 1/350 scale ships. If you remember that last time I told you I just got my uss new jersey that model is my first 1/350 collection. But next year I'm getting my uss Nimitz but the problem is, is that I don't have enough space to put my 1/350 nimitz😅
outstanding work
Outstanding.i love it.
My Favorite is the USS Enterprise CVN65
I visited Coronado one year and saw the USS Coronado depart san Diego
By any chance do you make 1:87 scale models?
I wish they made the FFG7 in 1/200 scale. I served on FFG43 The USS Rentz who rests on the floor of the Pacific now. I was a ssonar tech who was tatally jazzed when Hunt for Red October came out. They make Jonsey to be a super tech. They strech things a bit. It was fun just tthe same.
