I can say from experience that the Deckmate lifetime coating does not hold up forever. I have removed many in pressure treated deck boards that are nothing but toothpicks in the middle. On the other hand, it is no fun removing deck boards that have been nailed with 16d galvanized nails.

I’ve found this out the hard way, all my deck mate coated lifetime warranty screws are rusted in half. I’m patiently replacing the boards with new screws. What good is the lifetime warranty if you have to redo all of the work?

@@furysactorslounge3956 Agreed. My original 16d galvanized nails are a B#@ch to get out even after 30 years.

Don't know about you folks, but I'm using SPAX Decking/Framing Exterior Screws. They're Made in The USA 🇺🇲 and they are designed patented and The screws themselves are Heat Treated they don't break even in the hardwoods or pressure treated lumbers and I've been using them for years. Yep! SPAX Fasteners both Decking/Framing Screws and Powerlag Screws. SPAX Powerlag screws is what I uses for Heavy Carpentry applications like Decking, Attached Deck and Post Framings. They're Heat Treated and they have an excellent Pull Out Value (Meaning you can Use them again)

Good info and well researched. I only have issue with a few points. 1) Saying all three screws are formulated the same is an assumption because they are coming from Taiwan and from the same procurer. It is an assumption. 2) I'm not sure they are true Bugle screws as Bugles flare out. These are closer to Flat screws. Sheetrock screws are more indicative of Bugle screws.

Thanks for your input, I also am not sure I would refer to them as bugle heads, however all of the info from the manufacturer refers to them as bugle heads so I went with that. Thanks for watching.

Wow, you've answered all my questions about screws for my deckboards which are 2 x 6 and 16 ft long. My question is can I use these for this type of treated deck boards. I would need about 500 screws to get the deck floor done. Thank you

All 3 of those screws are designed for use in treated wood. For use in a 2x6 I would recommend using a 3.5 or 4 inch screw. Thanks for watching.

I want to build a 10 X8 foundation for my 10X8 Arrow Galvanized Metal Shed. I'll be using 2-2X6X10 and 9-2X6X8 and 3/4 inch plywood all pressure treated lumber, which of those pressure treated screws would you recommend me using and how long should they be? Any help would be appreciated....

    • @detroitdiy

3.5 or 4 inch screws to attach all of your 2x6 materials together. I would use structural screws for treated wood. The plywood flooring I would use 2.5 inch Deckmates. Thanks for watching.

@@detroitdiy Thanks for responding, I'm trying to buy all my material from Home Depot and I found the 2.5 Deckmates but I'm confused about the, "Structural screws for pressure treated wood." Can you share the link or name for the 3.5 inch structural screws for treated lumber on the Home Depot website and share it with me?....
