I live in Corozal, and I agree. Quite a place with great potential. I am not the typical 'gringo'; I'm actually French, my wife is Cuban, and my two daughters are Spanish. We, however, live in a street of amiable people from the United States and Canada. Schooling is excellent, people are very friendly and most importantly, no stress!
What is the crime like in Corozal? I was concerned with the idea of drugs moving through Mexico and using it as a hub potentially because of its location?
@@KynamiiiteGaming Corozal is a small vilage. The crime rate is very low and is mainly related to North American expats. As far as I know, the Belize/Mexico border is not highly used for drug smuggling. It is a very low-traffic place compared to the Guatemala/Mexico border.
Belize sounds like the medicine that my body and soul needs. Everything about the people, the culture, and the environment resonates with me. I'm looking forward to visiting. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. 🎉
Gosh Laura, that was so well done and quick. Super informative and you are so well spoken, I am highly impressed. They all sound great in their own way.
Nice video with Good information. Maybe you can do a video on how inflation in affecting Belize, since it's so bad in the States and elsewhere. Keep up the good work.
The currency is pegged to the USD so as the dollar continues to be debased I suppose it will have an equal effect. There would be local effects as well such as land costs presumably rising.
I'm surprised that you never made mention of Orange walk as it is very centrally located and has many shops and a great market. It has always seamed one of the safer communities and is approximately one hour from airport and an hour from Chetumal Mexico. There is two local mennonite communities and Lamanai Mayan Ruins etc.
Thanks 4 the info. Are U currently there in Orange Walk? If not, are U planning a visit next year? Would like to gain more insight B4 my visit. Chat soon 😉
Orange Walk is similar to Corozal. Biggest difference is density, more people is smaller space. Slightly more visible poverty in Orange Walk. Is halfway between Corozal and Belize City.
Lol corozal is not similar to orange walk, as a fellow corozal person I'd say orange walk is hot, very hot you get breeze but hot breeze that's the only thing about it when you are driving from ranchito corozal and reach Tony's in and get the blast of a view from the bay and fresh bay breeze, that's when you know you are in corozal
Being living in the town of Belmopan for the past two years. Very quiet and laid back town surrounded by all of the government buildings and embassies. I like action so Ambergris would be my option if it wasn’t for my son’s school which by the way is great for my son (Belize Christian Academy). Other than that, I good place to stay health. We feel very safe here and whatever we can, we take small trips to explore the nearby mountains, adventures, the islands or the rest of the country.
How do you like BCA? I have been looking around for schools for my children. Have you heard of QSI? I was looking at that school as well. Having a hard time deciding between Belmopan, Corozal, and Belize City
Very informative and interesting. Thank you for sharing. I’m learning a lot from watching your videos. Three weeks later, and I’m watching this video again.
All your videos are great. I see one, I watch it. I look to you for the truth. In this one i would have loved if you were able to put a map of Belize on screen and highlight the area you are speaking of.
I live in BC Canada, so I would assume Sea can from Vancouver and through Panama to which port..? I want to live off grid and do my own bit of farming and building. What would be the best route to bring in Solar panels, battery packs, power tools etc? Thank-you.

Hi Laura how are the land prices in the plascencia area, I build my own houses, and some information on materials prices would be great..I think your video on Belize is the best one I've seen, so thank you...all the best 😎
A lot of people bash Belmopan as being boring and kind of plain vanilla compared to be many other areas of Belize. However, over the years, I’ve seen it come into its own. For one, it’s centrally located and is the main corridor to the south and west of Belize. There are also an increasing number of retail and service outlets that have opened in recent years. And, actually, the outdoor market isn’t half bad (although it can’t hold a candle to the Saturday morning market in San Ignacio). Finally, it’s the center of government and if you’re dealing with Immigration or the Lands Department, Belmopan is where you have to go.
PG is safe for the libertarian lifestyle. See Century 21 Yemeri Grove Estates. We are off grid and farming. Have lived in Dangriga, Hopkins, Placencia and Punta Gorda(PG)
My wife and I are healthcare professionals and we have 2 young children. Any recommendations for us to be close to a medical facility for work as well as good schools?
I see a lot of stories about not moving to Belize City. What if you are moving there for work as an Expat and don’t really have a choice? Are there nice and safe areas for professionals?
If I had to live in Belize City, I'd live on the northern side of Belize city, along the northern highway, towards the airport. Technically I think that's more like Ladyville but within an easy drive of anything in Belize City itself. I've stayed near the tourist village and felt fine walking around. Driving in Belize City, however, is scary. The streets are not laid out in any kind of grid, it's confusing to try and find your way around, not many stop signs, NO stop lights, and there are police all over, stopping cars as they go by. As an American tourist, I know they're not looking to mess with us, but for me was still scary to see so many armed cops just standing around on the streets. Taxi cabs are very reasonable, if it was me I'd probably live on the outskirts and take a cab in to Belize city if I had to go into the city for business
Caye Caulker is beautiful but extremely Boring. Corozal is great and close and easy to get to Mexico for a change of view. The expat communities in Corozal are a magnet for criminals to prey on innocent expats. Ambergris Caye too expensive.
@EEG-ud8vl I love Belize 🇧🇿 ❤️ I am belizean, and my kids are born there. I am just saying the truth. Belize is very expensive. Belize is beautiful. My mother and brothers are still there, so I visit at least twice a month. And I will keep on visiting until I die.
Hello, Are you by any chance Dave's wife. Dave and I went to OSU together. WE bought a home in placencia and I knew u guys had a resort there. Are you still there?
Does anyone one in here live or know about Belize and where it's cheap to live by the ocean . Looking to find a small apt for under $900 or less is even better.. I'd appreciate some info .
Punta Gorda - "Beautiful P G by the Sea!" --it's far south Belize, almost to Honduras, but it is peaceful, lovely, and inexpensive. There's a Cacao festival every year in May.
Appreciate the information, really helpful and full of sights , guess 1~2 hrs drive from international airport should be a good destination for gringos’ plan B .
I remember when Cayo was just four house and nothing but bush and hills.. same reason I don't like the bronx.... try sliding down those hight of winter p!!!
There appear to be inland mountain regions in Belize where you could get some relief from the heat. Plus the elevation would offer protection from any type of hurricane storm surge or flooding. These places are completely absent from your video. Are they uninhabitable, or just too dangerous?
Caye Caulker is terrible. I'm here now in an Airbnb in an area called The Bahia. It smells like swamp. I rented for a month, but I'm leaving ASAP because it stinks of swamp and garbage. It's literally HORRIBLE here in rain season. Roaches are huge.
Did you leave? Where are you heading? We are going there in 2 days. There are so many different opinions. Make sure wherever you go, you choose a place where you can get in and out of without flying.
My friend is building a house in Belize. It's 2 hours from Belize city, up by Mexico. I'm not sure the name of the town or area. I'm worried about her being there because the healthcare isn't as good as in the US, and she isn't the healthiest person. It will be just a vacation place she'll go to a few times a year, but, many of the meds she NEEDS to live, they don't have anywhere in Belize.
If where you go looks civilized and clean your safe. If it looks like Belize city and under development…I recommend you go back to the civilized part. 😂 Also as a person who lives in Toledo who migrated from Belmopan. Toledo is boring. Unless you want an off the grid kinda cut off life then it’s perfect.
