    Tip number one: Try not to clean a bike in the blazing sun for obvious reasons. If however you happen to be an incredibly important UA-camr with a Thomas the Tank Engine voice who’s been been experiencing a heatwave for over a month and simply can’t afford to put your videos on hold for any longer, then get out there and get on with it!

      I feel your pain! I'm a self employed valeter and had to clean two cars yesterday (16th July). It was 35 degrees, in a car park with no shade, and my big ol' generator running as well. Not the nicest experience!

    I’ve watched probably 1000’s of youtube detailing videos. You sir, have the best video editing of them all. And you are a top level pro detailer to boot.
    The craziest part is you are actually working will filming which makes the video that much better. Very satisfying to watch. Thank you

    My favourite part of bike cleaning is once it looks perfect taking it for a blast.. Where more often than not, within about 30 seconds, a swarm of about 1,000 or so flies decide that they'd prefer to be squished all over my pride and joy rather than doing fly stuff. Usually within about 10 minutes the seagull heard in this video at 4:35 has tracked me down and launched a couple of his bike-seeking missiles all over it!! I've found that paraffin works just as well as the commercial chain cleaners (if not better) and is cheap as chips by comparison. Follow that with a thin coat of chain wax and Bob's your uncle.

    Nicely done, it's worth rubbing a bit of ACF-50 over any parts that could rust for extra protection, great stuff. Obviously stainless steel and plastics won't need any, you can mask the disks and calipers and tyres to do nuts bolts and forks. It's good on electrical connections including battery terminals too.

    For future reference... when re-lubing the chain, you lube the inside, not the outside as you did in the video. Centrifugal force will push the lube to the outside of the chain giving it full coverage and there will be less fling onto the back wheel.

      Niamh Healy Well not a lot, sometimes lol, it does depend on many factors.
      I had someone come over from the other side but not fully so was no issue really, still pissed me off of course.
      It is in a recent video but the gopro dose not show distance well due to the fisheye lens, he came further over than it looks.

    I first switched to two buckets and learnt to machine polish around 2006. I used to have bikes but knocked that on the head around 2003. Wish I had my detailing arsenal and knowledge in my biking days, could have brought them up to such a higher level.

    More tips:
    1) Use something to prevent a lot of water going in the exhaust
    2) Cover clocks.
    3) Don't spray chain cleaner directly on the chain, cause it will break down the grease behind the orings. Prefer to apply on a rug and wipe it clean
    4) Afterwards lubricate the usual bits, and also lube suspension adjusters cause they tend to cease

    • @codenamenel
      @codenamenel 5 років тому +4

      5) When re-lubing the chain, spray the inside of the chain, that way Centrifugal force pushes the lube into the chain when you ride, Spraying the outside makes it fling off

    finally a great how to video on cleaning motorbikes. I notice that you use a wax on the bodywork near the seat. It's worth mentioning that wax is obviously slippy so it's important not to get any on there. seats on motorbikes are usually simple to remove and involve the key and a single latch which keeps it in place with a few tabs to line it up correctly

  • @Treizez34

    First, you're videos are insanely hypnotic. There is no good reason why someone would be up at 12am watching videos on how to clean something. Bravo on the great detailed videos.
    2nd, I own a matte black Honda CBR1000rr (2016 for reference). I live where the weather is more tropical and my rides involve getting bugs smeared all over my front end (and helmet). How do you recommend going about cleaning in order to protect the Matte finish of the bike?

    Hi,
    Please can you do a video of how to properly clean car glass, inside and out, without leaving streaks or fluffy bits off of the microfibre cloth. And what products and cloths to use?
    Many thanks,
    Ps, love the vids 😀
    Shaun.

    • @CroIntr00X
      @CroIntr00X 6 років тому

      simple as this
      1. low pile microfiber for glass (dedicated for glass only)
      2. small bucket, warm/hot water and few drops of dishwash soap
      3. normal microfiber towel
      4. spray bottle with clean water
      order: damp 3 into 2, wipe glass, spray glass with 4, and buff with 1
      Result: no nicotine, no streaks, no fluffy bits, fast, easy, cost effective and most important safe to all glass including tints. Working with detailing cars for over 10 years. Glass cleaners often leaving coating over glass, looks ugly on sun, you can spot smudges, nicotine and dirt sticks to it lovely. That's why im never using it for years. They are often not strong or too strong which is not good either. Dish soap with hot water is just perfect to dislodge caked dirt, also to remove any dirt "film" on your glass, while low pile microfiber cloth buffs it to "no glass" effect. Regards

    One tip, you touched on it by saying, avoid getting water in critical areas. Just thought I would call out one area in particular. Avoid spraying water with any force at the center of the wheels. The wheel bearings are not as protected as on a car. I know they are by name, sealed bearings. However, that seal is NOT very tight against the inner bearing race. Think of them more as dust covers, not seals.

    Well done. I was hoping for a clay bar and polish, though. BTW, WD 40 works great as a wheel cleaner and to keep the locks lubed as well.
